Sharky is a freshwater shark that Mualani encountered when she was younger while surfing. Their first meeting began as a kind of race, with Mualani trying to outrun the shark. After meeting several more times, the two developed a close bond and became surfing companions. Mualani named the shark Sharky. Eventually, Sharky disappeared, and Mualani never saw her again. To preserve the memory of her friend, Mualani created the Sharky Surfboard, designing it after Sharky’s appearance, including her fins, skin texture, and teeth.
