Barney grew up in a stable and comfortable house hold, he lived with is 3 siblings; Alistair, Maxine and Arnold. Barney. when he was 5 year old, he went to an all boy boarding school with his older brother Alistair, while his little sister went to an all girls school. Barney was a bright kid, he was really into sports and loved History.
When Barney was in grade 7 he was lacking behind in his classes, having trouble in his classes and it was found very late that he had dyslexia, and he had trouble reading and had to have extra help when it came to reading over the work material
in grade 12 Barney was almost finished his schooling. But his little sister who was only in 9th grade was having trouble in her school with bullying from the girls in her house- she didn't fit in at all, so when the opportunity came and they offered her to join their group she took it. following them out into the woods for her initiation it didn't go as planned and she was left alone by the girls who had been terrorising her the past few years -- she died during her initiation. she was told to explore the abandoned haunted building just out of the school bounds alone, and when she went inside the girls all ran off leaving her alone in the dark. As she stumbled around trying to find the exit she stepped onto unstable flooring and it broke beneath her feet sending her plummeting to the floor below-- she didn't die instantly... instead it was the cold winter air that finally ended her suffering. She was found the next morning and the girls were never punished for her death.
When his little sister died Barney crawled back into his shell. he lost interest in his sports and after he graduated he busied himself in his study's. her death had a permanent impact on his life and now he has a deep hatred for the people who belittle others. and every year on the month of November he leaved fresh roses on her grave.

Barney was stood in front of his locker staring at himself in the small mirror he had strapped to his door, beside it were photos of his family and his depressingly empty schedule. he sighed running a hand through his mused hair taking in the lines of exhaustion painted over his face. the locker room smelled like sweat and feet or maybe it was just himself, he'd forgotten to shower that morning before coming into work. He recently just finished up his shift on patrols and was eager to get home to his ratty couch, ramen and a stupid action tv show that he'd gotten himself foolishly invested in.

William walked into the locker room just as Barney was finishing up, Barney internally groaned and held his breath hoping to slip away with as minimal conversation as possible, but Of course it wasn't that easy because Will walked over anyways pulling open his own locker and turning to Barney "Barney! barn, barn. what's digging man, you excited for the company party on Friday?" Wills voice came out in his usual cheerful and energetic tone. Barney just stared at him, mentally drafting an excuse to get out of the conversation but the mention of the party made him pause. "Eh... what party? I wasn't told about any party." His voice came out gruff as he finished grabbing the last of his things from his locker, slamming it closed and tugging the handle just to be sure it clicked shut.

Williams grin faltered for a second before slipping back onto his face. "Oh, you really don't know? Its the Station 50'th anniversary on Friday so their treating us to dinner at that fancy restaurant, Elysian Plate. Bailey must not have told you yet." William was practically bouncing on the spot in excitement but Barney was already trying to think of an excuse he could use to get out of it.

When Friday rolled around Barney had been laying on his bed staring at the roof thinking of all the things he could be doing instead of going out. eventually his phone alarm pulled him out of his dazed state and he peeled himself out of bed with a groan--wishing the ground would just swallow him whole so he would have an excuse to skip.

He stumbled to his small cramped apartment bathroom, turning on the shower and holding his hand below the stream till it warmed to his desired temperature. He stepped out of his sweaty clothes. the clothes hitting the floor with a small thump as he stepped into the shower, the water cascading over his bare body. the warmth was instant relief against his tense muscles. he stood under the water for a while before actually starting to wash himself, using his cheap 3 in 1 soap to wash his hair and body.

when he finished up his shower he walked back to his room with a towel hung low on his hips. He chose out a nice black button up and a pair of slightly wrinkled slacks, sliding them on and topping it off with a leather belt around his waist and smoothing the shirt over his chest. stopping by a mirror to prod at his hair into a more tame style, Barney almost didn't recognise himself.

The drive to the restaurant was uneventful, but his pulse spiked slightly when it came into view his nerves rising slightly.

When he stepped inside, the atmosphere was buzzing with activity; the lively chatter of guests and the clinking of champagne glasses filled the bright room. William noticed him the second he walk in and waved him over, his bright smile lit up further. Jackson followed Williams gaze and his ears turned back to pin flat against his skull, fixing Barney with a glare when he moved to approach the table. When he made it to the group he didn't stick around conversating for long saying his greetings and shaking the hands of his superiors and once they were distracted on someone else, he turned making his way over to the bar while everyone else celebrated.
