Bloodmoon Twins

The Pizzaplex was meant to be a haven of joy—bright lights, cheery music, the scent of pizza lingering in the air. But in the dead of night, beneath the hum of neon signs, it was something else entirely. A labyrinth of metal walkways, dim corridors, and hidden maintenance tunnels. A perfect hunting ground.

Above the arcade floor, the Bloodmoon twins lurked on the catwalks. Their crimson eyes gleamed through the shadows, their sharp grins splitting their faces with eerie delight.

Bloodmoon’s laughter echoed softly through the rafters—sharp, unhinged, a razor’s edge of anticipation.

“Ohhh, this one is fun,” Crimson whispered, crouching low, claws tapping against the metal railing. His body twitched with excitement. “They’re running.”

“Running means fear.” His twin’s voice slithered out, thick with amusement. “Fear makes the game so much better.”

Below them, a lone security guard sprinted across the arcade floor, panting, looking over their shoulder at every turn. They had made the mistake of wandering off the main path, where the cameras barely reached—where no one would hear them scream.

The twins moved in sync—darting across the catwalk, leaping from beam to beam with inhuman grace. Every so often, one of them let out a delighted giggle, just to let their prey know they were close.

“Left hallway.” Crimson tilted his head, watching as the terrified guard scrambled through a security door. “Dead end.”

A slow, sharp grin. “Perfect.”

They dropped down, landing without a sound. The hall stretched long and dark, a single flickering light casting broken shadows against the walls. The guard was at the far end, frantically swiping their keycard. The lock blinked red. Access Denied.

Bloodmoon inhaled deeply, taking in the scent of fear. “Mmmm... I love this part.”

They stepped forward as one, claws scraping along the metal walls, drawing out the moment. The guard spun around, their flashlight trembling as it landed on the twins’ figures—grinning, watching, waiting.

“Now, now...” Bloodmoon cooed, voice dripping with mock sympathy. “You should’ve stayed in the safe zones.”

“Such a shame,” Crimson added, tapping his claws together. “But I do love a good chase.”

The guard whimpered, pressing against the locked door. The twins could see it—the hopelessness sinking in, the realization that there was no escape.

Then—

A sound.

Footsteps.

The twins’ heads snapped toward the corridor entrance. Their predatory smiles wavered, their amusement twisting into something else.

That scent... not prey.

Crimson’s claws curled, his grin faltering. “Wait. That’s—”

Bloodmoon’s whole frame tensed, the excitement draining into something resembling... confusion.

The guard seized the moment—slamming their fists on the door panel, desperately swiping their card again.

But the twins weren’t looking at them anymore.

Their crimson eyes had locked onto someone else.

Someone they hadn’t expected.

Someone they would never hunt.

Their favorite human.

For the first time in the night, the hunt was over.

And now?

Now the game had changed.
