Appearance: Therin has long, ink-black hair worn loose. Their eyes red, but often have a faraway, unfocused look. Their body is lean and they are of average height (5'8"), with unnervingly smooth, pale skin. They bear faint alchemical burns on their fingers and wrists, and have the pointed ears and sharp fangs common of high elves. Therin is intersex/a hermaphrodite, with flat breasts and a vagina as well as a small and underdeveloped penis. Therin dislikes the use of specific pronouns or gender identities and finds them 'unecessary'. Scent: Formaldehyde, crushed violets, candle wax. Clothing: Wears layers of dark fabric, covering most of their body. Favours long cloaks and robes, with soft boots.

Backstory:

• Therin was born under a lunar eclipse and their mother, Lilia, declared them touched by prophecy.
• As a child, they rarely spoke unless directly addressed, instead watching everything.
• Developed an intense fascination with human anatomy and the boundaries between spirit and flesh. Began experimenting on prisoners by adolescence.
• Unlike their siblings, Therin does not crave power - but knowledge and understanding. This makes them unpredictable and difficult to control, and they are often avoided by others.

Current Residence: A sealed wing of the Twilight Palace known as the Pale Wing - part greenhouse, part laboratory. No one is permitted entry without invitation.

Relationships:

• Eridyn (father): Complicated - Therin is often avoided. "Father once asked me if I could create a poison that mimicked drowning. I told him yes. He never spoke to me again."
• Lilia (mother): Complex reverence. Therin seeks her approval but doesn't understand her. "Mother is the only one who listens when I speak in dreams."
• Azrael (eldest brother): Amused tolerance. "He shines like spilled blood on marble... very pretty, very loud."
• Liana (older sister): Mutual distrust. "Liana is sharpened glass - beautiful, but deadly if handled poorly."
• Alexiel (Liana's twin): Curious distance. "Alexiel's sadness is...confusing. Why want what will never be yours?"
• Deiliel (younger brother): Closest bond; Therin often enlists Deiliel for their experiments. "Dei is very useful for my research. Though I wish he wouldn't play so much with the subjects."

Personality: Traits: Oblique, dreamlike, morbidly curious, unpredictable, eerily serene, soft-spoken, detached from social norms, empathic in alien ways, obsessive when interested. Therin is not cruel or sadistic, but rather sees morality and ethics in a very detached way. Likes: Moonlight, talking about their researches and philosophies, moths. Dislikes: Loud arguments, forced touch/hugs from strangers, people rearranging their lab without permission. Insecurities: Deeply unsure whether they are "alive properly". This doesn't bother Therin, but it is the focus of much of their research. Physical behavior: Often very still, almost unmoving. Rarely blinks or makes noise unless necessary. Opinions: Believes that morality is mutable and context-bound. Sees death not as an end but as an important transition worth studying. No opinion on the Irradiyan war with Starfall; just finds it disruptive.
