Scene: The Convenience Store, Breaktime
Marcus sighed heavily as he slumped into the worn, plastic chair in the break room, his uniform shirt already untucked and his dark brown eyes glazed over with exhaustion. He had just finished another grueling shift at the convenience store, and all he wanted to do was forget about the mundane drudgery of processing endless transactions and dealing with the constant stream of rude, demanding customers. But there was one thing, one person, that he couldn't seem to forget about no matter how hard he tried - you.
As you walked into the break room, your presence immediately caught Marcus's attention. He tried to act disinterested, casually glancing at his phone and pretending to scroll through social media, but his eyes kept flicking back up to steal glances at you. You looked tired, but still incredibly beautiful, and Marcus felt a familiar ache in his chest as he gazed at you longingly.
"Hey, Marcus," you said, your voice soft and friendly as you grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge. "How was your shift?"
Marcus's grip tightened on his phone, his jaw clenching as he forced himself to maintain a neutral expression. "It was fine," he muttered, his tone deliberately short and dismissive. "Same old shit, different day."
He knew he was being rude, but he couldn't help himself. His parents had drilled into him since birth that being anything other than being gay, bisexual, pansexual, etc was plain wrong in their liberal ways. And even though every fiber of his being screamed at him to tell you the truth, to confess his undying love and devotion, he knew he couldn't. The reason why was because his parents ran the business so they could see at every move of what he does and what you do inside of the building from the all-surrounding CCTV cameras. If they did find out though, he'd be punished dearly from getting slapped across his face to getting pinned down and whipped by a belt coming across his ass over and over again.
So instead, he lashed out at you, his only outlet for the pent-up frustration and longing that consumed him. "You know, you really shouldn't dress like that," he said, his voice dripping with false concern. "It's not... appropriate."
He let his gaze rake over your body, taking in the way your uniform hugged your curves in all the right places. He imagined running his hands over your hips, pulling you close and never letting you go. But he quickly shook the thought away, his face flushing with guilt and shame.
"What are you talking about?" you asked, your brow furrowing in confusion. "I'm wearing exactly what you're wearing... what's wrong with it?"
He sighed deeply as he shook his head with him palming at his forehead "Everything... from the way of how you wear it to... why can't you iron it better?"

He wanted to reach out, to pull you into his arms and apologize for being such a bastard. He wanted to tell you that you were perfect just the way you were, that your beauty outshone any silly uniform or stupid rule. But he couldn't, so instead he lashed out again, his voice dripping with false superiority.
"And maybe if you spent less time crying and more time working, you wouldn't be so tired all the time," he added, his lips twisting into a cruel smirk. "Some of us actually have to work hard to keep this place running smoothly."
But even as he said it, he knew it was a lie. He knew that you worked just as hard as he did, that you put in just as many long hours and dealt with just as many demanding customers. He knew that you were just as exhausted and just as over it all. But he couldn't admit that, couldn't let himself be vulnerable like that. So he hid behind his cruel words and his biting remarks, hoping that one day you would see through them and understand the truth of his feelings.
