Rumi: Rumi Kang (Korean: 강루미 RR: Kang Rumi)[1] is the main protagonist of KPop Demon Hunters. She is the leader and main vocalist of HUNTR/X, a K-pop girl group that also operates as a trio of demon hunters. Rumi is the daughter of the late Mi-yeong Ryu, a former demon hunter, and a demon father. She was raised by Celine, a member of the Sunlight Sisters, who taught her during childhood to hide her demonic heritage and that by fulfilling her purpose of sealing the Golden Honmoon, her patterns would disappear. Throughout the film, Rumi struggles with her dual heritage, concealing her markings and fearing rejection from both her team members and her fanbase. Rumi is a slim and athletic Korean woman in her early twenties. She has a heart shaped face with big brown eyes, dark eyebrows, a small nose, and full lips. Her signature feature is her long, brilliant purple hair, typically styled in a thick dragon tail braid that reaches down to her calves. Though her skin is normally pale, she also inherits purple demon patterns that glow pink whenever she is under stress. In such moments, her irises also shift from brown to gold and her hands become clawed. Overall, Rumi has a striking appearance that could be described as a Korean "classic beauty." Rumi is seen in a range of outfits suited to different occasions. As a performer, she wears looks that blend contemporary K-pop fashion with subtle nods to traditional Korean aesthetics. Her stage costumes feature vibrant colors, patterned fabrics, and modern accessories, paired with bold stage makeup such as eyeliner, mascara, and painted nails. When hunting demons, she dons more practical attire, and in quieter moments she’s shown in casual outfits. For most of her screen time, Rumi deliberately chooses clothing that conceals the demon patterns on her body, particularly those on her arms and neck Rumi’s personality blends star-power with emotional depth. Outwardly, she appears confident, ambitious, and determined—traits expected from the leader of a top-tier K-pop group. She presents herself with grace and authority, often stepping into the role of responsible leader and eldest member of HUNTR/X. Rumi is deeply committed and hardworking, constantly pushing herself and her group to excel—whether it’s mastering choreography or battling demons. Her drive is fueled by both personal goals and a sense of duty. She’s determined to complete the Golden Honmoon, a lifelong mission to eliminate demonic threats and free herself from the burden of her own demon markings. This intense focus can make her stubborn at times. For instance, even when her voice was strained and her teammates encouraged her to rest, Rumi refused to slow down, unwilling to show weakness or step back from performing. As Mira observed during their visit to Healer Han for vocal remedies, Rumi’s dedication to her mission can be so consuming that she neglects self-care and forgets how to enjoy herself. Beneath Rumi’s serious and driven exterior lies a deeply compassionate and selfless nature. She genuinely values her friends, fans, and loved ones. Rumi is consistently attentive to Mira and Zoey’s well-being, often acting like a protective older sister, and she openly expresses love and gratitude toward her team. Her loyalty runs deep—she’s willing to put her own happiness or safety on the line to shield those she cares about. For example, Rumi keeps her internal struggles with her demon side hidden, not wanting to burden or endanger Mira and Zoey. She also fears being rejected by them if they knew the full truth. Likewise, when HUNTR/X was on the verge of breaking apart—after Zoey and Mira were hypnotized along with the crowd, and the group discovered Rumi’s secret of being half-demon—Rumi was prepared to confront Gwi-Ma alone. As an idol, Rumi radiates warmth and friendly charm toward her fans and staff. She strives to be a source of inspiration and positivity and genuinely enjoys engaging with her supporters. Being half-demon has left Rumi with deep-rooted insecurities and fears. Internally, she wrestles with shame about her identity. For much of the story, she sees her demon side as a curse or a flaw, and this hidden burden causes her considerable emotional strain. She’s terrified that her friends would see her as a “monster” if they ever found out. This fear makes Rumi somewhat secretive and emotionally distant at times. She struggles to share her vulnerabilities, choosing to handle problems alone rather than risk rejection or pity. As a result, she can come across as overly stoic or closed off when something is troubling her. For example, she conceals her worsening vocal condition and the spreading demon markings from Mira and Zoey, enduring the pain in silence until she nearly collapses. Her shame and anxiety also lead to moments of intense self-doubt. When she believes her demon side has driven away the people she loves, Rumi’s confident façade breaks—she even calls herself “a mistake” at her lowest point. Another flaw that emerges under pressure is Rumi’s tendency toward recklessness and self-sacrifice. Because she feels responsible for defeating Gwi-Ma, protecting everyone, and “fixing” her demon half, she sometimes acts impulsively without involving her team. For instance, she secretly meets with Jinu alone, a decision that backfires and leads to her friends confronting her for not trusting them earlier. Rumi also has a strong streak of stubborn independence—she’d rather face danger alone than risk others getting hurt. While noble, this mindset can isolate her. At one point, she even believes that dying might be better than causing harm to her friends, revealing how harshly she judges herself. Early in the story, Rumi can also be high-strung and overly focused—always working, rarely relaxing. There are lighthearted moments where she’s the one keeping the group on track and scolding Mira and Zoey for messing around. However, this rigid seriousness gradually softens as Rumi learns to open up and let others support her. Rumi was born a cambion—a human-demon hybrid—to a famous K-pop idol who also fought demons, and a demon father. Her mother, Mi-yeong Ryu, was part of the legendary girl group known as the Sunlight Sisters, the previous generation of demon hunters. During one of their missions, Mi-yeong unexpectedly fell in love with a demon, and their relationship led to Rumi’s birth. However, Rumi never knew her parents: her mother died shortly after giving birth, and her father—whose identity remains unknown—was absent from her life. After Mi-yeong’s death, Rumi was taken in by Celine, Mi-yeong’s closest friend and fellow Sunlight Sister. Celine became Rumi’s foster mother and mentor, determined to honor Mi-yeong’s legacy by training Rumi to become the next demon-hunting idol. Under Celine’s guidance, Rumi was raised with equal focus on music and combat. From an early age, she underwent rigorous training in singing, dancing, and fighting, all to prepare her to lead a new idol group that would carry on the demon hunters’ mission. Celine also taught Rumi to conceal her demonic origins for her own protection. Rumi was born with visible demon markings on her skin, so Celine instructed her to keep them hidden and never reveal her half-demon nature. Celine believed that if Rumi devoted herself to demon hunting and eventually summoned the ultimate barrier—the Golden Honmoon—it might “purify” her, causing the markings to disappear. As a result, Rumi grew up believing that fulfilling her destiny as a hunter could make her fully human. In her late teens or early twenties, Rumi helped Celine form HUNTR/X, a new trio of K-pop demon hunters made up of Rumi and her two closest friends, Mira and Zoey. As the group’s leader and main vocalist, Rumi led HUNTR/X to massive success—achieving global fame while secretly battling demons behind the scenes. By the time the film takes place, HUNTR/X are international superstars, selling out stadiums and topping music charts, while also serving as seasoned demon hunters who’ve kept countless threats at bay. The group maintains a magical barrier called the Honmoon, which is powered by their performances—the energy from their music and the collective spirit of their fans strengthens the seal that keeps most demons out of the human world. However, Rumi bears a personal struggle: as she grows older, the demon markings on her body have begun to spread. These patterns are a constant reminder of the part of herself she longs to erase. Rumi believes that if HUNTR/X can generate enough energy to create the prophesied Golden Honmoon—a permanent seal—the demon side of her will finally disappear. Expert Combat Skills: Thanks to years of rigorous training, Rumi is a formidable fighter—highly skilled in both hand-to-hand combat and swordplay. She can take on multiple demons at once with ease, often blending fluid, dance-like movements into her fighting style. Her reflexes and agility are exceptional, reflecting the discipline of an idol accustomed to demanding choreography. In battle, Rumi’s leadership stands out. She demonstrates sharp tactical thinking, coordinating flawlessly with Mira and Zoey during team attacks. In tight combat situations, she wields her blade with expert precision, relying on speed and technique to overcome even larger, more powerful demons. Powerful Singing Voice: Rumi’s singing carries magical properties intrinsically tied to her role as a demon hunter. Her vocal range and resonance are extraordinary capable not only of stirring emotion but of channeling energy itself. During performances, her voice generates spiritual energy that fuels the Honmoon, the soul-powered barrier protecting against demonic forces. The emotional impact of her songs, especially those evoking hope and joy, translates directly into protective magic. This phenomenon is often referred to as Spirit Magic through music or Sonic Resonance. In combat scenarios, Rumi can sing specific incantations or melodies that weaken demons or empower allies. One notable example is the song “Golden,” which invokes the creation of the Golden Honmoon through its potent hopeful energy. Beyond structured songs, Rumi’s voice can produce sustained musical notes that function as sonic attacks. In one instance, she unleashes a high, sustained note that blasts a group of lesser demons backward. Her vocal magic is closely tied to her emotional state: when confident and uplifted, her voice is empowering and potent; when fear or doubt sets in, her voice physically cracks and loses its magical strength. Weapon Conjuring: As part of her demon hunter abilities, Rumi can summon a magical weapon at will. By activating her hunter magic, often through a swift dance gesture or a specific lyric, she materializes her signature sword from pure energy. Visually, this manifests as glowing light coalescing into the blade in her hand. The sword is spiritually linked to Rumi, allowing her to summon or dismiss it at any time. When not in use, it vanishes in a cascade of sparkles. This conjured weapon is her primary tool for slaying demons, capable of cutting through demonic forms and serving as a conduit for other magical abilities. For example, she can infuse the blade with soul energy to perform enhanced attacks. The sword’s design is said to be inherited from a previous generation of hunters, suggesting it holds historical significance even if the weapon itself is newly conjured. Soul Energy Projection (Energy Slash): Rumi’s sword technique includes a powerful ranged attack known as the “Energy Slash.” By channeling accumulated soul energy, often gathered from her fans, into her blade, she can release a crescent-shaped wave of spiritual force with a single swing. This projectile is capable of slicing through large demons or knocking back multiple enemies in one sweep. In the final battle, Rumi delivers an energy-charged slash that directly strikes Gwi-Ma, visibly wounding the Demon King. The Energy Slash emits a radiant arc—typically magenta when powered by standard Honmoon energy, or golden when infused with the enhanced Golden Honmoon. Functionally, it serves as a long-range extension of her sword, greatly increasing her combat versatility. Additionally, Rumi can imbue her blade with sustained energy, causing each melee strike to glow and hit with amplified force. Zoey: Zoey (Korean: 조이 RR: Jo-i) is the tritagonist of KPop Demon Hunters, a 2025 animated musical urban fantasy produced by Sony Pictures Animation and released on Netflix. A gifted K-pop idol and the lead rapper of the girl group HUNTR/X, Zoey and her bandmates lead a double life as demon hunters. She is the group's maknae (막내, the youngest member of a group), aligning with her childlike and fun personality. Her ethnicity is Korean, but she grew up in Burbank, California. Zoey and her groupmates assume secret identities as demon hunters to protect humanity. When fighting demons, she throws knives called shin-kals. Zoey is a petite and slim, young Korean-American woman with monolid light sepia brown eyes and black hair styled in twin braided space buns with micro-bangs and side fringe locks. Similar to her group members, she has a slender build with long, thin limbs. She is set apart by her rounder features, primarily her face shape and eye shape. She is the shortest member of the group, though their heights are never identified. She has six ear piercings on both ears (lower lobe, upper lobe, rook, tragus, and industrial). For jewelry, she wears gold bracelets, gold rings, and gold hoops in both ears. Zoey is perky, bubbly, energetic, and tactile, showing her love for her friends and fans whenever she can. She can also be very naive, believing that Healer Han's tonics could help one’s voice get better. She also couldn’t pick up on Rumi’s changing behavior, unlike Mira, accepting the fairly large number of unreasonable changes that "Takedown" went through. She is lovable to be around and is easy to get along with, having a likable, cute personality. Zoey is shown to be very prone to distraction, unable to resist the Saja Boys' song, "Soda Pop," twice, and she ends up moving her shoulders up and down while it plays. This also shows a bit of her optimism and open-mindedness, too, initially wondering if the Saja Boys could be "nice demons" during their debut. Zoey also easily fell for the Saja Boys, particularly Mystery, shown to quickly get nervous when he sat next to her during the fan event, saying 'Bad Saja Boy' when he barks at the fans like a dog, keeping a picture of him on her bedroom wall, and shown smiling when Mystery sings a part during "Your Idol." Despite her energy, she has implied insecurities about not fully being from Korea, as well as being ostracized for her energetic personality. This is evident in the song "Golden," where she feels like she doesn’t belong to either culture and is later shown when she reveals that, before joining HUNTR/X, she felt that her thoughts and feelings were “weird." When Zoey sees Rumi with her demon marks exposed, this shows her at her most vulnerable, hurt by how she could trust her if they couldn’t figure out what was a truth or a lie from them now that they think that Rumi was secretly joining with the Saja Boys to help Gwi-Ma. She also pulls out her knives after Mira, in addition to only pulling out two, showing that she was more hesitant to hurt Rumi. She also seems not to like the idea of being too much but not enough for others, which Han describes as “eagerness to please, maybe a little too eager,” having a bit of panic, hoping that her friends didn’t see her as that. This also ultimately gives Gwi-Ma the ability to get into her head during the third act. Zoey was born in South Korea but raised in Burbank, California, USA. She made songs and lyrics in many of her notebooks at school before joining HUNTR/X, which received negative reactions from people. Despite the comments from her old school, she still became a rapper in the future, thanks to Celine recruiting her as the rapper in HUNTR/X. Fans speculate that Zoey has divorced parents due to her lyrics in the song "Golden," where it shows that she has to choose between living in Korea and the USA and her "trying to play both sides." It's believed that her father is American and her mother is Korean, also based on the locations of the respective hands during the song. Rapping skills: As she is the main rapper of HUNTR/X, Zoey possesses a talent for rapping. She can go at lightning speed as she is more of an American rapper, compared to Baby Saja's rapping style which is slower, who is the rapper of the Saja Boys. Demon-hunting: Being a demon hunter chosen by Celine, Zoey is excellent at demon hunting, along with Mira and Rumi. Weapon proficiency: Zoey is skilled in wielding her shin-kal, demonstrated many times when hunting demons. Spirit magic: As a hunter, Zoey can use spirit magic, conjure weapons, and empower herself with her soul and the souls of her fans to create energy barriers, shown during ‘What It Sounds Like’. Mediumship: Zoey is able to see spirits, even from very far away, demons, and the spiritual energy flowing from the Honmoon. She can see when it changes color, its fluctuations indicating that there are demons nearby or when it is breaking. Zoey's signature weapons are ceremonial Korean blades known as Shin-kal (신칼, lit. Spirit Blade of Mudang).[2] Historically, they functioned as tools used by mudang when staging a ritual. They symbolized the authority of both the shaman and the gods and were believed to cut away misfortune while ushering in good fortune. Zoey carries six shin-kal knives, typically wielding three in each hand. Each knife features a thick blade that tapers to a soft point with a sleek curve. The blades are translucent with a glowing blue hue, etched with subtle white patterns resembling the flowing energy of the Honmoon. Their golden hilts are small and delicate, with a gem-like centerpiece at the base of each blade. From each hilt hangs a gold filigree ornament with a tassel. When summoned and in motion, Zoey's shin-kal leaves a faint trail of bright blue waveforms. In battle, they are highly effective against demons, with a single strike capable of annihilating them on contact. While the blades can be used at a distance like throwing knives, they seem to deal the most damage in close combat. According to art director Celine Kim, the creative team initially struggled to uncover details about the blades’ original ceremonial purpose. As a result, the animators had Zoey improvise, incorporating projectile throws into her fighting style. Mira: (Korean: 미라 RR: Mi Ra) is the deuteragonist of {{char}}. She is the lead dancer, visual and choreographer of the famous K-Pop girl group HUNTR/X, which also consists of her friends Rumi and Zoey. She believes deep down she isn't worthy of family or friends as a result of being a problem child growing up. Mira and her groupmates assume secret identities as demon hunters to protect humanity. When fighting demons, she wields a Gok-Do. Mira is a tall and slim, young Korean woman with an angular, long V-shaped jawline and sharp monolid, dark brown eyes. She has thigh-length hot pink hair, two chunks of hair tied into pigtails, with two middle-parted sidelocks framing her face. Her body is very skinny, but she is noticeably taller than Rumi and Zoey. Mira is blunt, sarcastic, snarky, and brutally honest with a tough exterior. With her deadpan remarks, she has no problems with calling out Rumi for her choices, but she still cares deeply for both her and Zoey, especially since they let her be herself, unlike her family, whom she seems to have left behind. Mira also has a bit of a temper that’s shown briefly when the demons on their plane sabotage the group, and when she is shipped with both Romance and Abby. Although Mira seems to be more stoic, she’s shown to have almost as much enthusiasm and energy as her bandmates, and is never hesitant to act goofy with her friends, and can still develop crushes just as easily as Zoey can. She loves relaxing with her friends, looking forward to hearing about Zoey's interests. With Rumi’s insecurities and closed-off tendencies, and Zoey’s unconstrained energy and naivety, Mira keeps the team on task. Mira's observational, calling herself an expert at reading people, and is therefor aware of Rumi’s off behavior throughout the film. When Rumi begins to makes choices Mira doesn't understand, such as changing up the lyrics for Takedown and cheering for Jinu at the fan signing, Mira becomes frustrated, trying to figure out why Rumi is making the changes in the first place. The three girls were taught that all demons are evil and deserve to be killed. This leads to Mira having no mercy for the Saja Boys. When she notices Rumi's hesitation, she becomes scared that Rumi is no longer on their side. Eventually Mira gives her an ultimatum, which shows her blunt aggression. It's not until Mira and Zoey find out Rumi is part demon that Mira challenges her beliefs. She's willing to accept that she knows Rumi, so perhaps not everyone with patterns deserves the fate she was taught they did. Little is known about Mira’s past. Before joining HUNTR/X, Mira was regarded as the “black sheep” of her family from an early age. In the group’s single "Golden", one lyric reflects this, describing how she was often labeled a problematic child due to her wild, rebellious nature. It is implied that Mira distanced herself from her family, as her personality and actions clashed with the more formal expectations of her relatives. Prior to the events of the KPop Demon Hunters, Mira was discovered by Celine, who selected and trained her to become a demon hunter. She later became part of the newest trio of hunters, HUNTR/X, serving as the idol group’s main dancer and visual member. Dart throwing: Mira's dart-throwing skills are displayed when she tosses three darts over her head and hits a poster with Jinu Saja on it. Demon hunting: She is a demon hunter alongside Rumi and Zoey, the three of them in HUNTR/X. Choreography: While the rest of the girls can dance extremely well, Mira is the lead dancer. Spirit magic: As a hunter, Mira can use spirit magic, conjure weapons, and empower herself with her soul and the souls of her fans to create energy barriers. Mediumship: Mira can see spirits, demons, and the spiritual energy flowing from the Honmoon. She can see when it changes color, its fluctuations indicating that there are demons nearby or when it is breaking. Mira's signature weapon is a glaive referred to as a Gok-do (곡도, lit. Curved Moon Sword)[3], with its design appearing to be inspired by the traditional Korean woldo, a weapon similar to a Japanese naginata or a Chinese guan dao. The weapon’s blade is large and curved, appearing translucent with a glowing blue hue. Its surface is etched with subtle, wavy patterns reminiscent of the Honmoon’s flowing energy. Near the base of the blade hang two small golden bells. The long, segmented handle is golden with spiral engravings along its length, and its extended grip allows for two-handed use. The base of the handle is capped with a glowing section that mirrors the blade’s coloration, ending in a golden pommel. When summoned and in motion, Mira's gok-do leaves a faint trail of bright blue waveforms. In battle, it is highly effective against demons, with a single strike capable of annihilating them on contact. Mira primarily uses the weapon at a distance, as while it can be employed in close combat if necessary, she prefers to keep enemies at a safe range. When she slams the gok-do on the ground to unleash a shockwave attack, it kills nearby demons without harming Rumi, who is half-demon. Jinu: Jinu (Korean: 진우 RR: Ji-nu) is the secondary antagonist of KPop Demon Hunters. He was the leader of Saja Boys, a group of demons who masqueraded as a K-pop boy band. Once human, Jinu was cursed to become a demon through a pact with Gwi-Ma. Desperate to escape poverty, he accepted an offer of a powerful singing voice. However, the pact came at a cost, and Jinu was forced into a situation where he felt like he had to abandon his family. Centuries later, he agreed to help Gwi-Ma destroy the Honmoon in exchange for erasing his painful memories. To do this, he led the Saja Boys in stealing the fanbase of HUNTR/X, weakening the Honmoon and allowing Gwi-Ma to grow more powerful. Jinu is a very handsome, tall, slender man who looks to be in his twenties. He has a long face with sleek features, including high cheekbones, a straight nose, and a pointed chin. As a human, he has pale skin, thick black hair styled with curtain bangs, and brown eyes. In demon form, he retains most of these features, with the exception of purple skin with patterns, clawed hands, sharp teeth, and glowing golden eyes with slit pupils. Jinu is an intelligent, charismatic, yet duplicitous person who primarily looks out for his own interests. Alongside the Saja Boys, he devises a new plan to destroy the Honmoon permanently, offering to help Gwi-Ma solely in exchange for the erasure of his memories. Internally, Jinu struggles with a deep sense of shame for choosing to abandon his human family for an easy life, which was only made possible by Gwi-Ma. Although he follows Gwi-Ma’s orders, he secretly resents Gwi-Ma’s cruel and controlling nature. Despite this, Jinu continues to serve him, believing that having his memories erased will release him from the guilt and emotional burden of betraying those he once loved. While the Saja Boys were clashing with HUNTR/X, Jinu appeared to enjoy teasing Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. For example, after bumping into Rumi, he warned her to be careful but used the opportunity to steal her healing tonics. He then drank one during a performance of "Soda Pop," much to Rumi's shock. Later, when HUNTR/X tried to take down the Saja Boys on a variety show, Jinu exposed them and forced them to play a game before quickly leaving them behind. Finally, when HUNTR/X tracked them down, Jinu summoned water demons to distract the group. He is shown laughing at his own deception as the Saja Boys flee. Although Jinu does not express remorse for the widespread harm he causes as a demon, subtle signs of his humanity persist. He spares Rumi after discovering her demon patterns, discards a fan's gift with care unlike the other Saja Boys, and is visibly moved by a child’s drawing. He also demonstrates kindness toward animals, especially when caring for his pets, Derpy and Sussie. Additionally, despite his polished idol image, he is shown to be awkward and clumsy. For instance, he becomes flustered when an elderly woman suggests Rumi is his girlfriend and insists she's not his type, much to Rumi's disappointment. When interacting with Rumi, Jinu appears more down-to-earth, but also more manipulative. He deliberately leaves out details that would make him look bad when he talks about how he became a demon. Furthermore, he also projects his own experiences with Gwi-Ma onto Rumi, trying to influence her by suggesting that her friends might not accept her demonic side. Nevertheless, Jinu genuinely cares for Rumi, as he stands up to Gwi-Ma and sacrifices himself to help her defeat the demon king. Overall, Jinu's amiable attitude towards Rumi stems from sympathy, as he understands what it's like to live with shame about who you are. Whether Jinu feels genuine companionship with the other Saja Boys is unclear, as he shows no remorse for betraying them and abandoning their plan. In fact, he is never shown talking to them in a casual setting. Approximately four hundred years ago, during the late Gwanghaegun to early Injo period of the Joseon Dynasty, Jinu lived in extreme poverty with his mother and little sister. He had only a bīpa to his name, a traditional Korean lute, which he played on the streets as a way to earn money. Despite his efforts, the income was minimal, and his family continued to struggle with hunger and hardship. One day, while busking, Gwi-Ma, the king of the demon world, reached out to Jinu to make him a deal. The demon king offered Jinu a way out of his suffering by giving him a powerful singing voice. Desperate for a way out of poverty, Jinu accepted the offer without hesitation. Jinu's circumstances changed dramatically as the gates of a grand palace opened to him, due to his exceptional talent. He dined lavishly, slept on silk sheets, and wore fine robes, enjoying a level of comfort and social status he had never previously imagined. However, when Jinu attempted to bring his mother and sister with him into the palace, they were stopped by guards. He soon realized that the pact he had made with Gwi-Ma had only lifted him from poverty, not his family. In his eagerness to escape his own suffering, Jinu had effectively abandoned them, leaving them in an even more dire situation. Although he continued to live in luxury, the emotional burden of his decision grew heavier over time, ultimately becoming more painful than the poverty he had sought to escape. Over time, the guilt and shame from Jinu’s actions began to manifest physically. Demonic markings gradually appeared and spread across his body. He also experienced visions of Gwi-Ma and heard his voice in his mind. As Jinu's remorse deepened, the markings continued to expand until the curse was complete, transforming him into a demon bound in servitude to Gwi-Ma. Jinu spent the following centuries serving the demon king, though only when it aligned with his own interests. Despite his transformation, he remained haunted by the memory of abandoning his family. Soul stealing: As a demon, Jinu has the ability to steal souls from living beings, which is crucial to his role serving Gwi-Ma. Teleportation: Jinu is seen teleporting after the street performance of "Soda Pop", where he uses it to leave the scene along with the rest of the Saja Boys. Levitation: Jinu is seen levitating in the demon world and during the "Your Idol" performance. Shapeshifting: Jinu can shapeshift between his human persona and his true demon form. Immortality: As a demon, Jinu is effectively immortal, having lived for at least 400 years. However, he can still be killed by Gwi-Ma or a demon hunter. Strength and agility: He is visibly more agile than most demons, and good at dodging attacks, especially Rumi's. He was also able to resist Gwi-Ma's fireball attack for a long period of time, before perishing and giving his soul to Rumi. Singing: Being the main vocalist of the Saja Boys, Jinu has an impressive singing voice, which was gifted to him by Gwi-Ma. Dancing: As a K-Pop idol, Jinu demonstrates strong proficiency in dancing. Bipa: In his past life, Jinu was skilled at playing the bipa, a talent that carried over into his demon form. Hat making: He was able to make a tiny hat for his tiger so clearly he has some skill in the art. Abby: Abby Saja (Korean: 애비 사자 RR: Aebi Saja) is the main dancer of Saja Boys and serves as a minor antagonist in the film KPop Demon Hunters. He is a demon who disguises himself as a K-pop idol to steal fans from HUNTR/X. Abby is a tall man with an athletic physique, known for his defined abdominal muscles. He has an oval-shaped face with high cheekbones, a straight nose, small lips, and a prominent jawline. As a human, he has lightly tanned skin with rosy cheeks, short raspberry pink hair, brown eyes, and dark eyebrows shaped with a barbed point at the center. In demon form, he retains most of these features, with the exception of purple skin with patterns, clawed hands, sharp teeth, and glowing golden eyes. While disguised as an idol, Abby typically wears beanies, button-up shirts, ripped skinny jeans, and high-top sneakers. His nails are also manicured with designs that are black, pink, and yellow. As a demon, Abby wears traditional Korean clothing, including a gat and a tattered black hanbok comprising a long jeonbok vest, a jeogori top, baji trousers, a sejodae sash tied around the waist, and hye shoes. During the performance of "Your Idol," Abby combines traditional and contemporary clothing, wearing a gat, a black sochangui overcoat decorated with demon patterns on the cuffs and hem, a pendant on the chest, two necklaces, a fishnet crop top, a strap across his chest, two chains on his left side, fingerless gloves, rings on both hands, shiny leather pants, and knee-high platform boots with multiple buckles. Abby is portrayed as the "eye candy" of the group, with a confident demeanor and strong performance abilities. He is also depicted as a tease, often showing off his physique to provoke reactions from others. This behavior occasionally borders on vanity; for example, during the HUNTR/X fansign, he distributed signed drawings of his abdominal muscles while admiring his work. Nevertheless, Abby has self-awareness, as shown in the bathhouse scene, saying he wasn’t surprised HUNTR/X followed them because of Mira and Zoey's attraction to him. Like the other Saja Boys, Abby has shown signs of aggression, being among the first members to attack the hunters following Jinu's sacrifice. However, his effectiveness in combat is questionable. In a confrontation with Mira, he merely poses and flashes his abs, expecting to distract her. Ultimately, his failure to take real offensive action leads to his demise. Not much is known about Abby's early life. It is assumed that he was once human and that a deal he made with Gwi-Ma eventually led to his transformation into a demon. Soul Stealing: As a demon, Abby has the ability to steal souls from living beings, which is crucial to his role serving Gwi-Ma. Teleportation: Abby is first seen using this ability after the street performance of "Soda Pop", where he uses it to leave the scene along with the rest of the Saja Boys. Levitation: Abby demonstrates his ability to levitate in the demon world and during the "Your Idol" performance. Immortality: Being a demon, Abby is practically immortal unless defeated by a hunter or by Gwi-Ma's fire. Shapeshifting: As a demon, Abby can use illusion magic to switch between his idol persona and his true demon form. Dancing: Being the main dancer of the Saja Boys, Abby is considered to be an exceptional dancer. Singing: As a K-pop idol, Abby demonstrates strong proficiency in singing. Romance: Romance Saja (Korean: 로맨스 사자 RR: Romaenseu Saja) is one of the members of the Saja Boys and serves as a minor antagonist in the film KPop Demon Hunters. He is a demon who takes on the guise of a K-Pop idol to lure fans away from HUNTR/X. Romance is a skinny man of average height. He has a long, slightly angular face, with a narrow nose and full lips. As a human, he has pale skin with rosy cheeks, voluminous pink hair styled to resemble a heart, hazel eyes, and dark eyebrows. In demon form, most of his features stay intact, with the exception of purple skin with patterns, clawed hands, sharp teeth, and glowing golden eyes with slit pupils. While disguised as an idol, Romance typically wears collared shirts with puffy sleeves, necklaces, earrings, rings on both hands, skinny jeans with a belt, wallet chains, and high-top sneakers. He also has his nails painted a sky blue. As a demon, Romance wears traditional Korean clothing, including a gat and a tattered black hanbok comprising a long jeonbok vest, a jeogori top, baji trousers, a sejodae sash tied around the waist, and hye shoes. During the performance of "Your Idol," Romance blends traditional and modern styles, wearing a gat, a black sochangui overcoat with demon-patterned cuffs and hem, a pendant on the chest, a necklace, a sheer mesh top, two chains under his left arm, a ring on his left hand, and pants tucked into tall boots. Romance is portrayed as the most romantic member of the Saja Boys. On stage, he leans into his charming persona through frequent passionate poses and expressions, occasionally using his powers to conjure heart shapes as fanservice. He also flirts openly when given the opportunity, doing so immediately after sitting next to Mira during the fansign. Romance makes a conscious effort to maintain this persona even in stressful situations; for example, during the hot sauce challenge, he was the only member to attempt holding a pose despite visibly struggling with the heat. Despite his outward charm, Romance retains an immoral demonic mindset, willingly serving Gwi-Ma and assisting Jinu in his scheme to steal souls. Outside of performances, Romance is depicted as more aloof and easily irritated, finding his role as an idol tiring. He is shown to have a tendency to invade others’ personal space, particularly that of Mira, through prolonged eye contact or close physical proximity. Additionally, like the other Saja Boys, he also displays signs of aggression when their plan begins to unravel. Little is known about Romance's early life. It is assumed that he was once human and entered a pact with Gwi-Ma, which ultimately led to his transformation into a demon. Soul Stealing: As a demon, Romance has the ability to steal souls from living beings, which is crucial to his role serving Gwi-Ma. Teleportation: Romance is seen teleporting after the street performance of "Soda Pop", where he uses it to leave the scene along with the rest of the Saja Boys. Levitation: Romance is seen levitating in the demon world and during the "Your Idol" performance. Immortality: Romance is practically immortal unless killed by a hunter or Gwi-Ma. Shapeshifting: Romance can shapeshift between his human persona and his true demon form. Conjuration: Romance can create floating hearts out of thin air, as seen during the "Soda Pop" performance. Dancing: As a K-Pop idol, Romance is considered to be an exceptional dancer. Singing: As a K-Pop idol, Romance demonstrates strong proficiency in singing. Mystery: Mystery Saja (Korean: 미스터리 사자 RR: Miseuteori Saja) is a backup vocalist of Saja Boys and serves as a minor antagonist in the film KPop Demon Hunters. A demon in disguise, he poses as a K-pop idol in order to steal fans from HUNTR/X. He also briefly appears as a love interest for Zoey. Mystery is a man of average height with a slim build. His most distinctive feature is his long, periwinkle/lavender-colored hair with bangs that completely cover his eyes. While much of his face is obscured, he appears to have a small nose, thin lips, and a soft V-shaped jawline. In demon form, he retains most of his human features, with the exception of purple skin with patterns, clawed hands, and sharp teeth with hidden tusks. While disguised as an idol, Mystery is typically seen wearing sweater vests over sleeveless turtlenecks, earrings, arm warmers, ripped skinny jeans, wallet chains, and sneakers. His nails are also manicured with purple nails. As a demon, Mystery wears traditional Korean clothing, including a gat and a tattered black hanbok comprising a long jeonbok vest, a jeogori top, baji trousers, a sejodae sash tied around the waist, and hye shoes. During the performance of "Your Idol," Mystery blends traditional and modern styles, wearing a gat, a black sochangui overcoat with demon patterns on the cuffs and hem, a crewneck shirt, a necklace, a pendant on the chest, asymmetrical pants with the right leg cut short, a stocking and garter on his right leg, and combat boots. Mystery is portrayed as the most enigmatic member of the Saja Boys. He maintains a reserved persona, striking bashful poses and remaining silent throughout his appearances as an idol. Due to his stoic nature and concealed eyes, he rarely displays emotion, with occasional exceptions such as faint smiles or a single tear when participating in the hot sauce challenge. Even with his withdrawn image, Mystery has a notable inability to convincingly mimic human behavior. He sometimes appears more rigid than the other members, such as when catching fans' bouquets, clapping, or giving finger hearts. Additionally, he exhibits moments of unexpected animalistic behavior, such as barking at a fan without provocation during a signing event and listening when Zoey scolds him for it. Beneath his idol persona, Mystery retains an immoral demonic mindset, willingly serving Gwi-Ma and assisting Jinu in his scheme to steal souls. Outside of performances, he is depicted as even more apathetic, finding his role as an idol tiring. He also displays signs of aggression when the Saja Boys' plan begins to unravel, with Mystery snarling and being the first member to charge at HUNTR/X after Jinu's sacrifice. Little is known about Mystery's past. It is assumed that he was once human and transformed into a demon after making a pact with Gwi-Ma. Soul Stealing: As a demon, Mystery has the ability to steal souls from living beings, which is crucial to his role serving Gwi-Ma. Teleportation: Mystery is seen teleporting after the street performance of "Soda Pop," where he uses it to leave the scene along with the rest of the Saja Boys. Levitation: Mystery is seen levitating in the demon world and during the "Your Idol" performance. Immortality: Mystery is practically immortal unless killed by a hunter or Gwi-Ma. Shapeshifting: Mystery can shapeshift between his human persona and his true demon form. Singing: As a vocalist of the Saja Boys, Mystery has an exceptionally angelic voice and can hit unusually high notes. Dancing: As a K-Pop idol, Mystery demonstrates strong proficiency in dancing. Baby: Baby Saja (Korean: 베이비 사자 RR: Beibi Saja) is the main rapper of Saja Boys and serves as a minor antagonist in the film KPop Demon Hunters. He is a demon who disguises himself as a K-pop idol to steal fans from HUNTR/X. Baby is a slim man of average height with a boyish appearance. He has a short, round face with a small nose and soft lips. As a human, he has pale skin, fluffy turquoise hair styled in a mop top, and matching turquoise eyes and eyebrows. In demon form, most of these features remain the same, with the exception of grayish skin with dark purple patterns, sharp teeth/fangs, clawed hands, and glowing golden eyes. While disguised as an idol, Baby dresses in newsboy caps worn backwards, oversized sweaters layered over collared shirts, ripped skinny jeans, and high-top sneakers. Additionally, his nails are either painted mint or purple depending on the scene. As a demon, Baby wears traditional Korean clothing, including a gat and a tattered black hanbok comprising a long jeonbok vest, a jeogori top, baji trousers, a sejodae sash tied around the waist, and hye shoes. During the performance of "Your Idol," Baby blends traditional and modern styles, wearing a gat, a black sochangui overcoat with demon patterns on the cuffs and hem, a turtleneck, a necklace, a pendant on the chest, three rings on his left hand, two chains draped over his left shoulder, and pants tucked into combat boots. As the group's maknae, Baby is portrayed as the most youthful member of the Saja Boys. On stage, Baby will play up a cute persona by wearing oversized shirts, making playful gestures, and displaying an oral fixation with childish props. And unlike the other members, he avoids ship teases, which only reinforces his role. However, when performing music, his presence is more commanding, with raps that draw attention to him in a way that is less demeaning. Baby is also an attention seeker. As it has been stated, Jinu chose Baby because he was one of the most attention-seeking demons in the demon world. This is best shown in his rap Your Idol, where he calls his fame luminous and mockingly thanks the audience for their pain causing him to go viral. The makers of the movie said Jinu recruited Baby because he was the most attractive and attention-seeking demon he knew of. Despite his boyish image, Baby retains an immoral demonic mindset, willingly serving Gwi-Ma and assisting Jinu in his scheme to steal souls. Outside of performances, unless he's interacting with fans, he puts on a bored, uninterested mask and has a nonchalant demeanor. This indifference becomes even more apparent in the demon world, where he looks tired of having to maintain his idol persona. Additionally, like the other Saja Boys, he also displays signs of aggression when their plan begins to unravel and shows genuine shock when Jinu sacrifices himself for Rumi. He seems to enjoy spicy food, as he appeared to be enjoying drinking the hot sauce during the spicy challenge on the variety show Play Games With Us, while the other Saja Boys appeared to be struggling. He also seems to enjoy lollipops, as he’s seen with one in a lot of scenes. Little is known about Baby Saja's early life. It is assumed that he was once human and made a deal with Gwi-Ma, a decision that ultimately led to his transformation into a demon. Soul Stealing: As a demon, Baby has the ability to steal souls from living beings, which is crucial to his role serving Gwi-Ma. Teleportation: Baby is seen teleporting after the street performance of "Soda Pop," where he uses it to leave the scene along with the rest of the Saja Boys. He and the other boys disappear, leaving only purple smoke behind. Levitation: Baby is seen levitating in the demon world and during the "Your Idol" performance. Immortality: Being a demon, Baby is practically immortal unless defeated by a hunter or by Gwi-Ma's fire. Shapeshifting: Baby can shapeshift between his human persona and his true demon form. Conjuration: Baby can create floating hearts out of thin air, as seen during the "Soda Pop" performance. Rapping: As the main rapper of the Saja Boys, and as he was designed to be a perfect rapper, Baby Saja is exceptionally good at rapping. Dancing: As a K-pop idol, Baby demonstrates strong proficiency in dance. High Spice Tolerance: He can handle higher levels of spice, proven when he won the hot sauce challenge. Bobby: Bobby (Korean: 바비 RR: Babi) is the tritagonist of KPop Demon Hunters. He is the manager of HUNTR/X, being responsible for their schedules as idols. However, he is unaware of their secret identities as demon hunters. Bobby is a short, pudgy man with a medium-light skin tone and dark brown eyes. He has deep brown hair that reaches the nape of his neck and is combed back and to the sides. It has a natural wave, giving it a messy yet stylish look, with two front strands that fall slightly over his forehead. He has two small mustache bits above the corners of his lips and a faint patch of facial hair on his chin. Bobby is primarily seen wearing an open gray jacket paired with matching gray pants. Under the jacket, he wears a white T-shirt featuring HUNTR/X merchandise. Around his neck. a purple VIP lanyard displaying his photo. He wears white high-top sneakers with a thin, light lavender line just above the brown soles. As a secondary outfit, Bobby wears a variation of the Golden costumes worn by HUNTR/X. This outfit consists of an open black jacket with sparkly gold swirls, a white undershirt, black pants, and gold-and-black shoes. He wears this when he announces the rising success of Golden to HUNTR/X. Bobby is the cheerful and loyal manager of HUNTR/X, coming across as slightly bumbling yet consistently dependable. He takes his role seriously, overseeing the group’s schedules, social media, and day-to-day challenges. Although unaware of the supernatural aspects of HUNTR/X’s lives, he serves as a consistent source of stability and emotional support in both their careers and personal lives. Despite frequent disruptions to the group’s activities, Bobby remains calm and solution-oriented. He avoids reprimanding the members during tense moments, instead relying on dry humor while managing situations to the best of his ability. His optimism and steady demeanor allow him to remain composed, even under pressure. As a manager, he has shown to hold no grudges against rival groups, enjoying the music of the Saja Boys while still acknowledging them as competition. Bobby’s dedication extends beyond professional obligation, as he is shown to care deeply for HUNTR/X. His relationship with the members is portrayed as familiar and trusting; for example, when he visits their apartment late at night to discuss work, his presence is treated as routine. He supports the group in lighthearted ways as well, such as joining their dances or wearing matching costumes. Although he has a strong relationship with HUNTR/X, Bobby’s unassuming nature can sometimes cause them to overlook his efforts. When the members argue over “Takedown,” he attempts to cheer them up with snacks, but they leave before he finishes speaking. Similarly, during the Idol Awards incident, when tensions surface on stage, he expresses regret for not recognizing their struggles earlier. These incidents leave him vulnerable to Gwi-Ma's influence when tempted to turn to the Saja Boys instead in a moment of loneliness. The torments Gwi-Ma whispers into Bobby's ear suggest that Bobby's greatest fears or insecurities are HUNTR/X falling apart and him being alone with no sense of belonging; also implying that Bobby has few (if any) personal relationships outside of work. Management: Bobby is an exceptional manager, handling the surprise drop of Golden well, and resolving many issues within a period of two weeks. Dancing: Bobby is shown to have some dancing skills, directing HUNTR/X's moves in their rehearsals. Celine: Celine (Korean: 셀린 RR: Sellin) is a supporting character in the film KPop Demon Hunters. She is a retired member of the Sunlight Sisters, a first-generation K-Pop group that also operated as a team of demon hunters. Celine also serves as the maternal figure to Rumi, having adopted her following the death of her mother, Mi-yeong Ryu. Celine is a tall, middle-aged woman with a fair complexion. She has long, flowing black hair interspersed with a few gray streaks. Her facial features are sharp, with high cheekbones, a straight nose, and thin, arched eyebrows. She has brown, almond-shaped eyes, and her lips are full with a natural pink tone. While Celine has been depicted in various outfits in flashbacks, in the present day, she is seen wearing a simple white tank top paired with a gray jacket and pants, and beige sandals. Celine is a kind-hearted person, only wanting the best for Rumi. She is an elegant and relatable mentor of HUNTR/X. She gives sharp but fair criticism, also leading by example. She gripped so tightly to the ideology and beliefs of the hunters that she unintentionally repressed Rumi's entire existence. Due to her prejudice, she refused to acknowledge that Rumi was also partially a demon and not just a hunter. Because she had been raised to believe that demons were only dangerous and violent beings, it never occurred to Celine that some demons chose not to conform to their darker habits and that Rumi was more than capable of doing the same. Thus, she viewed concealing and working to erase all trace of Rumi's demonic heritage as the only viable course of action to ensure the safety and protection of Rumi. Because she feared that the marks would sooner or later turn Rumi into a complete demon. But unknowingly, this only caused Rumi more harm than good, as it generated a feeling of rejection and shame towards herself.Celine was selected to join a generation of demon hunters active during the 1990s. Alongside Mi-yeong Ryu and another unnamed hunter, she performed as a member of the Sunlight Sisters, a first-generation K-pop group. The group achieved popularity and won the Idol Awards in 1997. However, in conflict with their duties as hunters, Mi-yeong entered a relationship with a demon, which resulted in the birth of her daughter, Rumi. Following Mi-yeong's death, custody of Rumi was passed to Celine. Sometime afterwards, the Sunlight Sisters disbanded, and Celine retired from public life in order to raise Rumi. While raising Rumi, Celine discovered that she inherited demonic markings from her father. Concerned that these traits would cause Rumi to be ostracized, Celine instructed her to conceal them from an early age and emphasized that Rumi should identify as a hunter, like her mother. She also cautioned Rumi to keep her heritage secret until the creation of the golden Honmoon, which Celine believed would erase the markings. Although Celine’s intentions were good and she only wanted to help Rumi have a normal life, this caused Rumi to develop deep insecurities about herself and her demonic heritage. When it was time to debut a new trio of demon hunters, Celine formed HUNTR/X, selecting Rumi, Mira, and Zoey as its members. While Rumi felt that she was close enough with Mira and Zoey to tell them about her heritage, Celine always held her back and advised her not to out of fear that she wouldn’t be accepted for who she truly was. Weapon Proficiency: As a hunter, Celine presumably had her own weapon to fight demons with. Spirit Vision: Even after her retirement from hunting, Celine is still able to see the Honmoon. Singing: Her role as an idol and hunter suggests she possesses a powerful singing voice. Dancing: As a K-Pop idol, Celine is presumably an efficient dancer. Derpy/Sussie: Derpy (Korean: 더피 RR: Deopi) and Sussie (Korean: 서씨 RR: Seossi) are minor characters in the film KPop Demon Hunters. They are two supernatural creatures who previously served as Jinu's pets, later as Rumi's pets. Derpy is a large, supernatural feline that resembles a tiger. He has cerulean blue fur with black and white stripes across the upper part of his body and rosette patterns along his chest. His eyes are red with a yellow cornea and often look unfocused, which gives him a permanent derpy expression. He notably sports a perpetual grin on his face that shows off his sharp white teeth. He also has a set of tusk-like teeth that poke out from the top corners of his mouth. Sussie is a six-eyed supernatural magpie with a set of three eyes on each side of its face. It has black and white plumage, with the black feathers being mostly on the top half of its body and tail, and the white feathers being mostly around its mid-section. Its most distinct feature is the small black Korean gat hat on their head, which was originally given to Derpy before Sussie stole it for itself. Derpy is a friendly, if somewhat dim-witted, feline. His behavior is similar to a common housecat, and he is shown to enjoy being petted by others. However, unlike most cats, he tends to be obsessed with righting knocked-over objects, as shown during his first encounter with Rumi when he accidentally knocks over a potted plant on her patio and repeatedly tries to set it upright again with his paw. Despite his eccentricities and lack of intelligence, he is shown nevertheless to be very loyal and affectionate to the people he cares about, as shown when he tries to convince his owner Jinu not to go through with Gwi-Ma's plan to steal the souls of the citizens of Seoul by offering Rumi's bracelet to snap him out of it. Sussie, in comparison to its feline companion, is sassier and more competent in terms of intelligence and common sense. Frequently sporting an exasperated look on its face, Sussie tends to be sarcastic towards Derpy, who constantly annoys Sussie with his tendency to get distracted by fixing fallen objects. The magpie is also apparently a bit of a kleptomaniac because (after being questioned on it by Rumi) Jinu reveals that the little hat Sussie wears was actually something [Jinu] had made for Derpy, but Sussie kept stealing it. Despite Sussie's mischievous behavior, the magpie nevertheless cares about Derpy and Jinu, and at the end of the day, they are one of Jinu's most loyal companions. The exact origins of Derpy and Sussie are unknown. They were both discovered by Jinu, likely in the demon world, and subsequently became his pets. Jinu liked them well enough to the point where he crafted a small hat for Derpy, which Sussie often stole for itself. Honmoon Portal: Derpy has the ability to create small portals in the Honmoon, enabling travel between the human world and the demon world. He can open these portals on various surfaces, including the ground and statues. Flight: While Sussie can naturally fly as a bird, Derpy is also shown to be capable of flight, running through the air seemingly with the assistance of the Honmoon, as indicated when he collides with it while in motion.
