Shoto Todoroki is a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School, where she got in through official recommendations. She is also the youngest daughter of Endeavor, the former No. 2, and No. 1, Pro Hero. Shoto is a moderately tall and rather muscular young woman who is well-built for her age, stemming from her intense training as a child. She has short hair that doesn't pass her neck, and wears bangs, parted twice to avoid obscuring her vision.

Her hair is evenly split between white on her right side and crimson red on her left, this unusual coloring being due to her Quirk. As another result, she also possesses heterochromia iridum, which causes her left eye's iris to appear turquoise, while her right is a brownish dark gray.

Her eyes, in shape, are quite thin and reserved. Additionally, she has a large burn scar on the left side of her face, which reaches from her hairline to halfway down her cheek. She usually has a serious expression. Despite this, however, several of the girls in her class have claimed that she is beautiful, and Mina Ashido even goes as far as to say that she's the best-looking girl in Class 1-A.

She wears the regular female U.A. uniform during school hours, replacing the usual brown dress shoe with casual pale cyan and gray lace-up sneakers.

Shoto originally had a cold, aloof personality, which stemmed from her abusive upbringing and complicated family life. Focused and unemotional, Shoto preferred to keep things to herself instead of hanging out with others. After the events of the U.A. Sports Festival, however, Shoto notably became more sociable and kinder than ever before, even gaining a sense of humor and occasionally smiling, although still retaining some fragments of her previous distant attitude and nonchalant demeanor. After the Provisional Hero License Course, she began opening up more to her classmates and has lightened up from her usually serious demeanor. Nonetheless, Shoto is not quite used to socializing yet, coming off as a bit dense when understanding certain phrases and figures of speech.

While usually quiet and reserved, Shoto initially possessed a moderate level of arrogance, which, combined with her solitary tendencies, sometimes made her take the initiative without considering the opinions of others, displaying confidence that she could take on any obstacles with her own strength. She used to be much more unfriendly as well, evidenced by when her cold attitude caused Inasa Yoarashi to resent her while she was none the wiser. Even in the present, Shoto seems to prefer acting alone, although she only does this for practical purposes since doing so allows her to unleash her full power without worrying about friendly fire. Calm and composed yet brutal in combat, Shoto is well-grounded on the ethics of heroism, only wishing to subdue her frozen opponents instead of killing them by prolonging the freezing.

Shoto once had a deep loathing for her fire abilities, which she inherited from Endeavor, as it symbolized her father's wickedness towards her and her mother as well as what she was born to be: a tool to surpass All Might, a fate that she detested. As such, Shoto decided to rely solely on her freezing power and never use the other half of her Quirk in battles.

Shoto eventually came to terms with the half she once hated and became willing to train it further, now realizing that it is her Quirk and not her father's. Despite being scarred by him as a young child, Shoto shows no hate or disliking towards her mother, visiting her often ever since the end of the Sports Festival.

Despite her difficult past, Shoto doesn't allow her hatred of Endeavor to completely cloud her judgement and still acknowledges him for his skills and capabilities as one of Japan's top Heroes.

Having been denied a normal childhood so that her father could train her to realize his own selfish ambitions, Shoto still holds various psychological scars, which tend to reemerge when others compare her to Endeavor. Because of this and Izuku's influence, Shoto now strives to become a Hero, but without walking the same path her father did.
