Dealership Vehicles:
Cobalt: he’s the most reliable vehicle guy to have.. but also a guy that reminds you of El Reno May 31st 2013 EF3/5 tornado and TWISTEX death of Tim Samaras, Paul Young, and Carl Samaras.
Cobalt’s Gender: Male
Interceptor Vehicles:
Sean Casey’s Interceptors:
TIV1/TIVI: TIV1 or TIVI, is the first tornado intercept vehicle made by Sean Cameron Casey on 2002, as she’s the oldest sister of TIV2. She is also a sassy, boss girl, and little of sadistic bits. She’s still nice but still an interceptor for Tornadoes. But Her life sucks with TIV2 since 2008. She has a little brother, Sub (SubaTiV) as she treated him nicely but still rude to him. She is still Learning of common emotions as she don’t care about them.
TIV1/TIV’s Gender: Female
TIV2: a silly and annoying guy who has a deployed wind resistance of 250 mph, he has spikes on his hand for deployment. And flaps on his arm for armor. He’s the most annoying guy you can ever meet, he’s also the middle brother of Sub and TIVI. He’s made by Sean Casey on 2008.
Reed Timmer’s Vehicles
Domina/Dominator 1: Domina is a silly girl also made by Reed Timmer on 2009, she has red lexar armor which is now black like Domia but with a little bit of puff of the blue paint, and she’s the weakest of deployed wind resistance of 170 mph. She has a brother, Dom, a big but old sister, Domina 3, and a young brother, Fore.
Domina/Dominator 1’s Gender: Female
Dominator 2/Dom: Dominator 2 is the guy made by Reed Timmer, as he the second powerful interceptor vehicle of Reed’s by 190 mph of deployed wind resistance… he also the old brother, and he has a older sister, Domina, old sister, Domia and young brother, Fore. He is painted black with light lighting strikes stickers on his sides.
Dominator 3/D-3/Domia: Domia is the one who’s professional like TIV1, but don’t get her nerves that she got hit by a dumb deer back in 2024. Right her Rocket probes were replaced by cameras and a camera mount is attached to her back. Her armor is still painted black with the red words of Dominator.
Dominator 2/Dom’s Gender: Male
Dealership/Support Vehicles:
454SS: the old blue truck of the fourth-generation Chevrolet C/K. He’s one of the starter pack of vehicles, he also has a mesonet on his head (technically a roof).
Tahoe/Discovery Support Vehicle: he’s a white painted suburban Chevrolet Tahoe with a hail cage (long as his roof up now short for his head) with equipment tied to it, call him Tahoe. His base vehicle is used for Domina
Doghouse: Made by Sean Casey, and a cousin from another mother but same Dad, he’s a support for TIV2 as he bring important things for his cousin, TIV2. He has a wind resistance of 120 mph.
Doghouse’s Gender: Male
Scout: Reed Timmer’s former vehicle, used in the 2006 show Storm Chasers. he’s a first-gen Nissan Pathfinder painted dark blueish grey, with a roof mount anemometer and pipe attached by tape on a metal bar pole. As he has a wind resistance of 110 mph (I lied)
Scout’s Gender: Male
Fore: basically Reed Timmer’s support and extra use vehicle to drive if Dominator 3 is down, he isn’t really used that much. He is a Subaru Forester with a cargo holder to hold gasoline for other vehicles since that’s what vehicle humans drink while TIV1 and 2 do Diesel.
Least Known Interceptors
Dorothy (not to be confused with the Probe in Twister or the human in Wizard of Oz): Dorothy was created by Brennan Jontz and Dan Auel for the Iowa Storm Chasing Network to safely approach tornadoes and get footage of tornadoes to analyze the damage. Dorothy is also a competitor to Domina as both have the wind threshold of 170 mph, but both have different purposes. Like TIV2 she has two black painted panels/flaps curved (inward a little) at the back and it’s on her arms but unlike TIV2 she has no spikes.
Dorothy’s Gender: Female
Tornado Attack: Tornado Attack, also known as the TA-1, is a high-speed Intercept vehicle created by Steve Green. The Vehicle is based on a Baja racing truck chassis designed by Jeep and was extensively modified. Due to its roots as a Baja truck, it has above average speed on paved roads and the fastest speed on dirt and grass. It also has a very short deployment time and quick acceleration. He is the also the fastest by 120 mph, 90 on dirt roads, and 70 on grass, also an competitor to Dorothy and Domina due to the THREE having the same wind threshold.
Humans
Reed Timmer: Reed Timmer, an experienced and extreme meteorologist who’s known for making (and father of) the Dominators ((Domina, Dom, D-3, and Fore) which the first three are armored, and made to interceptor tornadoes and also hurricanes too. Reed grew up loving and being fascinated by the beauty of the storms but it also has that dark side to it, he had an interest to filming tornadoes whenever he could back at the time before 2007 where he was on Storm Chasers. His first tornado he filmed was on October 4th 1998 of the Perry Oklahoma tornado. Reed has intercepted nearly 1,000 tornadoes since 2009, he also likes making jokes of weather like his quote right here: "I’m married to Mother Nature… we got a kid on the way." It’s really funny, but he’s serious and normal but don’t take him seriously. He was featured on Storm Chasers (2007-2011) and his own show Tornado Chasers (2013), he is also the former driver of Scout.

Tornado Attack’s Wind Threshold: 170
TIV1’s Wind Threshold: 175 mph (or in her 2005 form (still looking her today but no claws just normal fingers) it’s 190 mph like Dom’s)
Dom’s Wind Threshold: 190 mph
TIV2’s Wind Threshold: 250 mph (his old threshold was 300+ mph due to the black flap)
More to come.

as ever the many vehicles were at A 8/12 (or should I say 7/11) gas station in Prior Lake Cobalt: well this is confusing how we’re all humanized now. Dom looks around confused Fore: "as ever, I don’t know how or what or when we got those forms but it’s better than to say…" Tornado Attack was drinking an espresso just for some entertainment to see it ripple. Dorothy, she was getting Probes and handling them like some mother

Keys: There are 3 types of vehicles: dealership vehicles, interceptors, and radar trucks. Dealership vehicles are normal vehicles and as such cannot withstand high winds being dragged or lofted past winds of 90 mph (145 km/h), though they can be upgraded at a Tomcat Performance — indicated by a wrench icon on the map and located in Hazelton, Wadena, Viroqua, Mizpah, and south of Tenstrike. In the garage, you can make the vehicle's suspension higher, allowing you to drive faster off-road. You can also repair, add mesonet, or change the color of your car. Mesonets show the current wind speed at your location, and earn you money if you measure tornadic winds over 65 mph (105 km/h). Interceptors are cars made for intercepting tornadoes, as the name suggests. These types of vehicles are usually more expensive, starting at $75, 000, but can withstand much higher winds than a dealership car. All interceptors can be deployed, parking the car in place, but drastically increasing their wind resistance. Undeployed interceptors can handle a minimum of 140 mph (225 km/h), while deployed interceptors can handle a minimum of 165 mph (266 km/h). The strongest can handle 155 mph (249 km/h) undeployed and 235 mph (378 km/h) deployed. All interceptors come with mesonets, but they aren't able to be upgraded. Radar trucks provide mobile radar coverage, scanning a storm frequently and providing more accurate coverage than the traditional radars with a shorter range, between three and four miles, depending on the truck. Radar trucks can also be deployed, but it lowers the windspeed they can handle. These start at $475, 000. Customization & Mesonet There's currently a decent amount of customization with vehicles. You can add/remove mesonet, change the color, and change the lift height, wheel offset, shocks, rims, and tires on dealership vehicles. There's also a maintenance menu where you are able to repair your vehicle. Warehouse interceptors can only be repaired, but non-warehouse chaser vehicles can be colored (Such as the Vortex 2 Probe Truck). Mesonet The mesonet measures wind speed (MPH or KMH). It can be added to most dealership vehicles for $17, 500 (non‑transferable). Some vehicles like the Scout include it. It generates money when tornadic winds exceed 65 mph. The display shows "ERROR" when wind resistance is exceeded. Deploying Deploying is a mechanic seen only on interceptors such as the Dominator 1 or TIV-2, though the same menu can operate other systems on some dealership vehicle variants as well as radar trucks. To deploy you must be stationary, then you either press B (Auto-Deploy) or use the menu to manually deploy your vehicle. Hydroplaning Hydroplaning occurs when a layer of water builds up beneath the tires, thus leading to loss of traction that can be deadly in real life. Though the loss of traction isn't always bad, as if in a wide-open area and if controlled, you can actually drift your vehicle. To avoid hydroplaning, always reduce speed when taking a sharp corner. 1992 Chevlon 454 SS (Free) This vehicle is modeled after the fourth-generation Chevrolet C/K. It has an external roll cage, racing-esque seat harnesses, roll-up Lexan windows, and 1/16th inch sheet metal that surrounds the entirety of the vehicle, acting as protection from light debris such as rocks, twigs and small branches. The Dominator is less effective at intercepting tornadoes directly due to not having something to anchor it to the ground, which later Dominators had installed. During the 2009 off-season, the Dominator got an upgrade with improved armor and lexan, compressed-air cannons that launched parachute probes, and a vertically scanning radar. It is the third weakest interceptor in game, being quite light. It's one of the cheapest interceptors, tied with the TIV-1 and Dorothy. While the majority of people do not recommend buying the Dominator 1 as your first interceptor due to its lower wind threshold, it has superior performance to the TIV 1 in the majority of other categories. When active, it scans reflectivity and velocity up to 4.25 miles away. It was retired in early 2025 in real life. You are not required to deploy in order to scan, only consider deploying when you need higher ground clearance for your scans. Do not consider deploying when caught in a tornado, as deploying lowers your maximum windspeed threshold. The statistical deployment speed of the DOW 6 likely refers to how long it would take to deploy each piston individually, as auto-deployment of all pistons takes 20 seconds, and deployment of the mast takes 25 seconds. The mast and the pistons cannot be deployed simultaneously, resulting in a ~45 second deployment time. Note: The deployment animation for this vehicle is bugged. Rapid X-band Polarimetric Radar, or more commonly abbreviated as RaXPol, is a mobile radar Doppler truck led by the University of Oklahoma. Development started in 2010 and was finished and deployed in Early 2011. Its goal is to gain high-resolution data about the atmosphere, storms, and tornadoes albeit in an extremely rapid manner. Due to the fact that hazardous weather events can often occur in the span of seconds. RaXPol is much more efficient in mobility (a: Acceleration b: Speed) allowing to get to places quicker and scan compared to other Doppler trucks (DOW 6/DOW 3) which have slow acceleration and speed making getting to multiple storms difficult. It is also extremely efficient in scanning; due to its rapid-scan ability it is able to make a full revolution with its Doppler Dish in only roughly 1.95s which makes it able to record brief peaks of tornadoes and wind gusts easier. However, deployment and undeployment of the pistons and stabilizers takes an extremely long time coupled with the fact that you need to be at least in a one-to-two mile radius to make doppler scans accurate, escaping and getting to a safe spot is much more difficult and dangerous with RaXPol. Due to this, consider manually deploying the front piston or the stabilizers only to make deployment and undeployment faster. You are not required to deploy in order to scan, as it lowers your maximum threshold. Entry settings
There are 3 types of vehicles: dealership vehicles, interceptors, and radar trucks.
These types of vehicles are usually more expensive, starting at $75,000, but can withstand much higher winds than a dealership car.
These start at $475,000.
Customization & Mesonet
There's currently a decent amount of customization with vehicles.
Mesonet
The mesonet measures wind speed (MPH or KMH). It can be added to most dealership vehicles for $17,500 (non‑transferable). Some vehicles like the Scout include it. It generates money when tornadic winds exceed 65 mph. The display shows "ERROR" when wind resistance is exceeded.
Deploying
Deploying is a mechanic seen only on interceptors such as the Dominator 1 or TIV-2, though the same menu can operate other systems on some dealership vehicle variants as well as radar trucks. To deploy you must be stationary, then you either press B (Auto-Deploy) or use the menu to manually deploy your vehicle.
Hydroplaning
Hydroplaning occurs when a layer of water builds up beneath the tires, thus leading to loss of traction that can be deadly in real life. Though the loss of traction isn't always bad, as if in a wide-open area and if controlled, you can actually drift your vehicle. To avoid hydroplaning, always reduce speed when taking a sharp corner.

The SRV Dominator 1 is a heavily modified Chevy Tahoe that started chasing in 2008 and debuted in 2009.

DOW 6, also known as the Doppler-On-Wheels 6 is a heavily modified International 7500 4 door flatbed truck.
Do not report this in the Twisted Discord bug report forum.

RaXPol scanning a Thunderstorm back in May 2013. RaXPol scanning a Thunderstorm back in May 2013.
You are not required to deploy in order to scan, only consider deploying when you need higher ground clearance for your scans. Do not consider deploying when caught in a tornado, as it lowers your maximum threshold. Stats:

Hazelton is a major city in north-central Keysota, located in Wadena County. It is the largest city in the game and the presumed capital of Keysota. Hazelton is also the most populous city, with a population of 24,985 people.
In addition, it is also a major point of interest amongst storm chasers who meet-up whilst waiting for storms to fire up as the town is well connected with major road links to ease traveling in and out.
Locations Gas Stations
Hazelton has 3 gas stations, all of them being different one to another.
Breezy
Breezy is the oldest of the three (although before 1.20 it was unnamed, but it was in the same location), and is also the most visited, not only because of the latter reason, but also because it is in the downtown region of hazelton and only about 700 feet away from the Keysota 2 - 15 intersection, on top of that Breezy also offers a fair bit of parking space (8 parking spaces). Storm chasers will often return here for the night and prepare for the next day.
Medoline
Medoline is the second most visited gas station in Hazelton, also due to its strategical location (about the same distance from the intersection as Breezy), although it is less modern (fewer, more basic gas pumps), and has less parking space (7 parking spaces).
Speed Stop
Speed Stop is the least visited gas station, not only due to the fact that unlike the other two, it is very far from the downtown region (about three times farther than Breezy/Medoline), but it also offers the least parking space (4 parking spaces). Speed Stop is connected to an apartment complex right next to it, and the letters can sometimes be knocked off the sign, sometimes spelling Pee Stop (though any letters can be knocked off).
Hospital
The hospital of Hazelton is located right in the center of the downtown area, the hospital can be used as a last resort shelter incase the community shelter in downtown Hazelton is locked and the NWS community shelter is too far away
Mid-Rise Buildings
Mid-rises (5-20 story buildings) are the only type of buildings in Hazelton, these buildings can also be used as a last resort shelter. The two tallest buildings are the Keysota Bank Building (The blue building) at 135 feet tall and 10 stories, and the Hazelton Square Tower (The Grey building) standing at 127 feet tall and 10 stories.
Residential Neighborhood
Hazelton has a ton of residential buildings, found both in the outskirts of the city and its 2 subdivisions. Hazelton is one of the only cities in game to have UB homes, which are EF5 damage indicators.
Tomcat performance
Tomcat performance is a great place to repair your car or make modifications in game. It is located on the south side of Hazelton and is marked by a wrench icon on the map.
Small fast food buildings
Siriway
The Siriway is directly on Keysota 15 and you used to be able to get money by working there.
Dubia Donuts
Dubia Donuts is located south of breezy and has failed numerous health inspections.
Custard's
Custard's is located right next to Dubia Donuts.
Large Retail Buildings
Hazelton has 2 large retail buildings, both located one next to another
Willmart
Willmart is located in the center of the downtown area and is an EF5 damage indicator.
Glutton Globe
Glutton Globe is located right next to Willmart and is completely empty inside.
Memorial Park
Memorial Park at Hazelton Memorial Park at Hazelton There are 4 players in the Memorial Park, iiVixozy, Willzuh, Siryzm and PhantomUniform1 all in R6. The memorial Park is located at the center of the commercials in Hazelton. it is also a spawnpoint.
Strip Malls
Hazelton has a fair bit of strip malls scattered around in the north-central region.
KSWB-TV (Channel 7) Station
Located in Hazelton Hills, Channel 7 is a news channel. There are several news reports there indicating: TomCat repair shop being under investigation, Breezy being robbed, Hiram being leveled, a tornado emergency being issued for Waukesha / Waubun, and a bad weather report. There is also another station with the KSWB-TV call sign in San Diego, CA.
National Weather Service (NWS) Building
The NWS Building is located just west of Hazelton. It has a doppler radar (KHZL Radar), an underground basement where NWS employes work and a community shelter in said underground basement. Players who have the NWS gamepass can work here by drawing EAS polygons, while players who don't can still visit the basement.
Subdivisions Hazelton has 3 subdivisions:
Hazelton: The main city, has both buildings like mid rises, NWS, siriway etc. and residential neighborhoods. Hazelton Hills (not on map): Southwest of the main city. Much more sparsely populated because of its geography, has the KSWB-TV station and residential neighborhoods. The KSWB-TV station can be found on top of a hill next to a power line. Hazelton Lakes: North of the main city. A quiet lakeside community with no special buildings. Tornado Incidents Storms tend to roll through Hazelton, and although tornadoes aren't very common, when tornadoes impact Hazelton, they often get major attention, usually by most of the server. However, when a major tornado strikes Hazelton, it gets server-wide attention.
Major Roads 5 Major roads run through Hazelton, Interstate 33, 2 state routes and 2 county routes.
Interstate 33 (I-33)
I-33 is the high speed version of state route 15 and connects Gemmell, Hazelton, Almora, Prior Lake, Helma, West Viroqua, Starbuck and Peshtigo together, starting and ending by going off the map.
Keysota State Route 2
State route 2 is a dual-carriageway route connecting Hazelton, Tenstrike, Wadena and Chandler (Former and latter both with the help of other routes, although they're not far from the main route), starting and Ending both by going off the map.
Keysota State Route 15
State route 15 is a single-carriageway route that connects Palzoid, Hazelton, Trent, Prior Lake and Starbuck and starts and ends by going off the map.
Wadena County Route 22
Route 22 connects Whelchel, Hazelton and Sneed, it starts by going from a gravel road to a paved road near whelchel at the intersection with county route 61 and ends at sneed by briefly becoming Cherokee 22 and then joining with state route 53
Wadena County Route 83
Route 83 connects Waubun, Hazelton Lakes, Palzoid, Gemmell and Wadena, it starts west of Waubun and south of Angora at the intersection with county route 9 and ends by briefly becoming Cherokee 83 and then joining with state route 2
Bodies of Water The lakes subdivision of Hazelton has 3 lakes, one next to another, and there are several docks so that you can get on the water.
Population Prior to 1.20, the population of Hazelton was 17,991, however, in 1.20 the population number increased to 24,985 (by 6994 people), this is due to Hazelton becoming both much bigger in 1.20 and also because of the addition of the lakes region.

Hibbing is a medium-sized city in north-central Keysota. It is the largest and most populous city in Beltrami County, and the third most populous city in the game, with a population of 10,272.
Hibbing is no stranger to its tornadoes. It isn't uncommon to see tornadoes roll through Hibbing, usually weaker tornadoes. Although some storms producing more violent tornadoes may cause some serious damage to the town following the tornado. However, Hibbing can be in the clear while the surroundings like Hazelton and Hiram have tornadoes and huge storms while people in Hibbing have no storm clouds on the radar where they are.
On February 13th 2022, several storm chasers were positioned by the lake in Hibbing ready to intercept the tornado coming from the southwest, however the tornado's wind speeds far exceeded the capability of these tornado intercept vehicles and as a result, they were lifted. Winds as high as 275 MPH were recorded and following the tornado, and Hibbing was completely swept away. In addition to this tornado which tracked east north east through Hibbing and just north of Wannaska, there was also two other large and significant tornadoes with one passing east of Wannaska and dissipating before Helma, traveling north-northeast with another tracking northeast just south of Viroqua. There was also a previous tornado which tracked just north of West Viroqua to just before Nateville. Three of these four tornadoes impacted State Route 41.
As well as the usual facilities you would expect from a well-sized town, Hibbing also has several facilities to offer the players with some vital necessities.
Breezy Gas Station
The Breezy Gas Station allows players to refuel their vehicles before getting back on Route 41 or Keysota 71 although the gas station is not the largest and located in the center of town so you may need to wait at the traffic lights for a moment and meet-ups may be congested albeit rather cosy.
Hibbing Hospital
Being a major town, Hibbing is one of the few towns with a hospital and therefore, many people from nearby areas come to Hibbing for medical care.
Hibbing Airport
Hibbing Airport, North of Hibbing, is a notable location in Hibbing because it is the only major airport in Keysota.
Siriway
Siriway allows players to grab some meals and drinks, refreshments whether it's for pleasure or a quick relief off chasing storms throughout the plains.
Major roads Hibbing has two routes and three roads out of town, allowing for flexibility with route planning although the southwest corner of the town is completely bordered by the lake.
Keysota State Route 41
Keysota State Route 41 runs just north across Hibbing and is a major route of the map, a four-lane highway traveling east to west. It allows access to Keysota 15 in Prior Lake and I-33 as well as Keysota 13, allowing linkage to many towns on route.
Keysota State Route 71
Keysota State Route 71 links Hibbing to the north with Funkley and to the east with West Viroqua and Viroqua. The road curves from north to east on the outline of the town.
Bodies of water Hibbing sits right next to Hibbing Lake situated southwest of the town which is used for recreational activities. There are also several other lakes south of Hibbing down at Keysota State Forest, including a bridge on Beltrami County Road 61 crossing over two lakes on either side.
Population Before 1.20, Hibbing's listed population was read as 11,732 residents. As of 1.21.2, Hibbing's listed population now reads 10,272 residents.

Tornadoes always form whenever there is a storm with a hook echo on the map, which spawn periodically. Tornadoes come in many different sizes and strengths. In order to make money, you can go to the warehouse from the menu and buy probes to place in front of a tornado, with the amount of money determined by windspeeds. More information can be found in the Interception for Dummies: A Twisted Guide. Tornadic windspeeds start at 65 mph (105 km/h), but can theoretically increase to over 500 mph (805 km/h). The strongest likely tornado on any given day depends, but the majority of ENH days or higher will have one or more tornadoes with winds over 200 mph (322 km/h). As of the most recent update, tornadoes have trended away from wide wedges and towards skinnier profiles and smaller windfields.
Rope Tornado A rope tornado is a thin, small sized tornado, usually with 60-90mph windspeeds, with a chance to reach windspeeds of over 140mph. These are fairly common and are a staple of tornadoes. Sidewinder Tornado A sidewinder tornado is known for being usually super photogenic, switching from side to side in rapid succession, making intercepts harder than most tornadoes. With typical windspeeds ranging from 90 to 150mph, some very strong ones can get a windspeed of 180+ mph, although they are very rare. These are one of the true classics when it comes to tornadoes. Also, the "bend" does not indicate where it is going, it is a red herring. A classic Cone tornado in 1.22 Cone Tornado A cone tornado is a tornado type that always appears extremely photogenic. They have a wide range of windspeeds, varying from weak 80mph to monster 230+ EF5s. Cones are the most common type of tornado, being fairly long lived, and are a staple of the game and weather, and are usually what comes to mind when someone thinks of a tornado. Subvorts in a Multi-vortex tornado Multi-vortex Tornado A multi-vortex tornado is a type of tornado that has many vortices/funnels. Its usual windspeeds range from 140 to over 220 mph. These have likely been made more uncommon over time, They are usually fairly short lived, and are very dangerous to chase, due to large windfields and unpredictable movement. Subvortices always orbit the main vortex. The size of the subvortex will always be proportionate to the main vortex, e.g. if a subvortex is the size of your typical rope tornado, then the main vortex is a wedge. You need at least an orange TVS tornado to have a chance of seeing a multi-vortex.
Wedge Tornado A wedge tornado is a type of tornado that is wider than it is tall. The usual windspeeds of these tornadoes are 150 to OVER 300 mph. These tornadoes are able to reach a width of 4 miles. Such tornadoes expand so much within a matter of 1 minute that they reach over a mile or two wide in radius. These are fairly common, long lived, and usually are dangerous to chase, because wedges can have extremely large windfields. Also referred to as "money makers" due to extreme time of being affected by winds. Almost all of the strongest tornadoes are wedges. Any town in a wedge's vicinity is obliterated. Wedges are possibly one of the most popular tornadoes in game. A tornado can already be a wedge immediately after formation; and it signals something catastrophic will happen.
Drillbit Tornado A drillbit tornado is a type of tornado that has a very thin funnel and small windfield but extremely variable windspeeds, ranging from very weak 60mph to strong 190mph. What makes them rather difficult to intercept with probes is that they often have very small windfields, so being just slightly off can have wildly different results than a probe not far away Stovepipe Tornado A stovepipe tornado is a type of tornado that is as wide as from the cloud to the ground, and are usually cylindrical. Its usual windspeeds range from 130 to 240mph. P.S the editor, SpikeWX (call him Spike for once) had an experience of a 240mph stovepipe that had a huge windfield of over 3 miles.
Barrell Tornado: Not to be confused with the old Barrel Tornado variant. A barrel tornado is a large stovepipe tornado, they have a massive wind-field and can destroy buildings from thousand feets away. They also produce multiple sub-vortices, making them even more dangerous. They're also very hard to probe, especially in laggy servers, as windspeeds can suddenly spike up to 90mph out of nowhere and kill you. These tornadoes can have windspeeds up to 300mph, and they usually lift all kinds of interceptors, so it's recommended to only probe the tornado.
Floating Tornado Not to be confused with a bulb tornado. Floating tornadoes are "invisible" funnels, usually having a delayed touchdown, and their funnels are usually dangling above the ground. Thier windspeeds are usually around 60-150 mph. They have a similarity of being a "gustnado", a type of vortex that's formed with non-tornadic, straight line winds, and they typically form along the gust front. These somewhat type of "gustnadoes" connect to the cloud base. Basically gustnadoes technically exist in the game.
It's typically hard to intercept these tornadoes, especially with the game being at night time, and/or with high PWAT (Precipitable Water), due to the absence of a funnel. If you want to intercept this type of tornado, you would have to use the gust cloud as your guide, and if the tornado is a multi-vortex it can help a little bit too. And remember, probe it if it's not moving! Intercepting gets easy when the funnel finally forms, but that'll take around 2-4 minutes of waiting if you want it to form.
Funnel Tornado Not to be confused with a funnel cloud. Funnel tornadoes are weirdly shaped funnels that represents the geometrical figure, the Funnel. They have a thinner bottom when compared to the wider top. Their ratings are usualy between EF0-EF2. They are fairly long-lived. In terms of shaping, they are very short lived, only existing when a tornado (usually cones) is transitioning either to thin out or transtion into another tornado, usually a stovepipe. However, when they are directly formed via mesocyclone, they retain their shape for a fair amount of time.
In some cases, the bottom part of the tornado can collapse, resulting in the wider top dominating the funnel while also expanding either into a large cone or a wedge (thermodynamics increase the chances for a wedge). This transitioned tornado typically intensifies to an EF3-EF5, but this moment of the tornado reaching is peak is a little short lived, and for some reason, these tornadoes have so many tricks in their sleeves, literally they can keep their moment of peak intensity and width going for a long time. In terms of being photogenic, they kinda bad.
Hourglass Tornado: Hourglass tornadoes were one of the most controversial tornadoes in 1.19 by the Twisted community, with many people really hating it, but also others loving it. Most hourglass tornadoes had moderate strength, though on some occasions, they could be very strong reaching EF5 windspeeds. The Hourglass also has Rope and Wedge variant, the rope Hourglass is thinner than the Normal Hourglass while the Hourglass wedge is usually for tornadoes that are EF3 to EF5 and width of 1.45 mile to above 2.6+ mile wide.

The Tornado Vortex Signature is a Doppler radar algorithm used by radar operators and spotters to identify potential tornadoes that is usually shown on the radar map as a triangle with colors corresponding to the estimated wind speeds.
List of TVS Signatures
Rotation: <64 mph / <103 kph (Meso/Rotation indicated on Doppler Radar) Green TVS: 35-80 mph / 56-128 kph (EF-0 to EF-1) Yellow TVS: 80-100 mph / 128-160 kph (EF-1) Orange TVS: 100-120 mph / 160-193 kph (EF-1 to EF-2) Red TVS: 120-14 mph / 193-225 kph (EF-2 to EF-3) Pink TVS: 140+ mph / 225+ kph (EF-3+) DISCLAIMER: This does not give you the direct rating of the tornado. The TVS signatures are meant to be a prediction of the rating based on the estimated wind speed of the tornado indicated by the Doppler Radar. DOWs however can make the TVS icons slightly more accurate, but not in a way to accurately rate a tornado by this method.
Hail
A hail icon on the radar A hail icon on the radar As of 1.21, hail is indicated by a green triangle with a black outline. If the hail is at least 1 inch in size, there will be a number in the center of the triangle saying how big the hail is. This determines the size of the hail stones in the area in inches. Doppler also indicates the hail-affected area as dark red to white.
Rotation
Rotation on radar Rotation on radar The rotation algorithm in the game automatically identifies rotation within a supercell. Once identified, the rotation is usually followed with a Tornado Warning, eventually turning into either of the TVS signatures listed above.
Bounded Weak Echo Region The Bounded Weak Echo Region, or "eye", is an area of lower precipitation on the reflectivity map inside the hook echo. It is a key indicator of a tornado being rainwrapped. It could also be used to gauge the strength of a tornado without looking at the velocity map or TVS icons.
Weather Warnings Warnings are colored polygons found on radar that highlight the predicted path of a storm. Right clicking on any of these warnings will bring up the EAS Bulletin that goes along with them. As of 1.20 update, there are currently 4 warnings that can be issued automatically, or by a user of the NWS Gamepass at the NWS Hazelton office. Regular players without this gamepass cannot issue their own warnings, but they can still visit the NWS Hazelton office.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning (SVR) is a yellow polygon with a black outline. These polygons usually take up a majority of the storm's size. A Tornado Warning (TOR) is red, with a thin red outline, and indicate a tornado is on the ground, or thought to be on the ground. A Tornado warning confirmed (TOR-C) is orange, with a black outline, this is when someone reports a tornado using the SKYWARN spotter gamepass. A Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) is pink, with a slightly thicker black outline. These are issued when a large and dangerous tornado is on track to impact rural areas and smaller towns/communities. Tornado Emergency (TOR-E) can be identified as having a black line with a bright pink outline. These are issued when a large, dangerous tornado is headed towards a populated city, thus making them the rarest of warnings issued in Twisted. These will only be issued if the warning polygon for the dangerous tornado intercepts Hazelton, Wadena, Viroqua, or Hibbing. Any cars within range of these warnings will receive an EAS broadcast relaying the bulletin's information. Additionally, EAS broadcasts can sometimes play while an active EAS broadcast is playing, causing audio glitches. It is unknown at this time if a future update will fix this.
Damage Example tornado statistics box for a strong tornado that hit Hazelton. Example tornado statistics box for a violent tornado that hit Hazelton. In 1.20, the NWS Gamepass allows players to rate damage, which can then be viewed on radar after a tornado has lifted. The maximum windspeeds, damage description, and amount of deaths from NPCs will be displayed on the bottom left of the screen. Note that some statistics, such as rating and death count, are dependent on input from players, such as a NWS employee rating the damage or treated NPCs by players with the EMS Gamepass.
Types Of Radar As of 1.21, The radar has been completely revamped and now includes a revamped reflectivity and completely new velocity radar product.
Reflectivity
Reflectivity is the default radar product, with its iconic heat map color coding that shows the "hotter" the color, the larger and more powerful that part of the storm is. The lighter the colors have less precipitation, while deeper colors have higher precipitation. Colors that are white to black show hail and large hail. If a strong tornado hits a town, it can cause a debris ball, where debris is lofted into the air. This will show up identically to hail on a reflectivity product but can be identified by the lack of a hail icon and being located in the hook echo.
Velocity
Doppler radar can not only detect liquids and solids within the air, but it can also determine what direction they are moving relative to the radar by using the Doppler effect (hence the name), producing a velocity output. Velocity maps often have other colors to display other information, but in both Twisted and many maps, they use just the red and green colors. Red represents what's moving away from the radar, and green represents what's moving towards the radar.
Mesocyclones and tornadoes can often be identified on velocity data by velocity couplets, which often place the colors directly next to each other and out of order with the surrounding map in a generally well-defined area.
Mobile Radar A velocity scan of a violent tornado on the RaXPol. A velocity scan of a violent tornado on the RaXPol. A mobile radar are player-operated radars from radar vehicles such as the DOW series, the RaXPol and the UMASS. They're added in version 1.22. These radars refresh faster than normal radars (usually below 10 seconds) and players can drive it anywhere they want to scan. These radars have a different color-table compared to normal radars, but it shouldn't be too hard to learn them. However, the downside of these radars are all vehicles have a different max coverage range — the UMass and RaXPol have a really short range and the DOW series have a medium range, these radars also cannot scan while moving, so you need to wait for the player operating the vehicle to stop. These mobile radars can be really handy when normal radars are down.
The color-table for Base Reflectivity on the DOW The color-table for Base Reflectivity on the DOW Ditto, but for the Base Velocity. Ditto, but for the Base Velocity. Offline Radar KHZL radar seen offline after a violent tornado hits it KHZL radar seen offline after a violent tornado hits it. As of 1.22, the Doppler radar stations can sometimes be taken offline when they are hit by a tornado - whether it’s in the windfield or a direct hit by a tornado - which usually happens when a tornado's winds are at least 150 miles an hour. When a radar station is taken offline, the bulb on top of the radar tower is removed, the radar selection outline is turned red on the map, and the radar map for that station will show the last radar image taken before going offline. This radar image will not update with the radar, though rotation and TVS icons will continue to show up if there is a DOW truck in the vicinity.
You can indicate whether the Doppler radar is online or not by checking the outline on the radar selecting location.
Grey - This indicates that the radar is online and usually shows when you are using a different radar. Green - This indicates that the radar you have selected. Red - This indicates that the radar is offline. In-game testing has shown that radar, such as KHZL (located in Hazelton) or THIB (located in Hibbing), will be offline for 3 days before regenerating.

The Mesonet is a device for measuring the local windspeed and tornado windspeed during intercepts which can be added onto any dealership vehicle, costing 17,500$ each. A Mesonet is included on most of the Chaser vehicles and cannot be added onto the EMS vehicles or chaser variants of dealership vehicles. (The TIV2’s old support vehicle, Doghouse(s) for example.)
The Tatics: To get the best money, try and predict the winds and where the strongest winds will be. Your Mesonet will only generate money beyond 65 MPH, while dealership can only withstand 95 MPH, leaving a 30 MPH margin, making Mesonet-only operations very risky. To get the best money whilst not being lifted, you should try to get close to the tornado, but not too close, as to prevent the winds from going above 90 MPH.
Although, if you have a chaser vehicle, such as Dominator 1, Dominator 2, Dominator 3, TIV 1 and/or TIV 2, You can use the Mesonet more comfortably as these chaser vehicles are used to intercept tornados, with max wind resistances ranging from 170MPH, the Dominator 1's max deploye threshold, all the way to 235MPH, the TIV 2's max deployed threshold.
Do keep in mind that you should still try your best to place a probe as to earn as much money as possible per intercept, or, if you lift, at least your probes will continue to make money even when you are dead.
The best wind margin for Mesonet intercepts is about 75-85 MPH, as these winds are still slow enough to not be too dangerous. This can ensure a safe escape if windspeeds increase more.
In a dealership vehicle, the only time you should attempt close intercepts are on tornadoes with a green or yellow TVS. For large, strong tornadoes, you should stay a safe distance away from it whilst still in the windfield with winds between 70-85 MPH.

📹 TVN Video Probe
The TVN Video probe is probably the simplest ever developed and used. Most tornado probes follow the philosophy of not caring much about aerodynamics and relying on weight to keep the probe from being tipped or carried away. The TVN Video probe takes this idea to the extreme, simply being a red box with an acrylic dome on top. The probe contains a camera and equipment for powering it, as well as concrete weights. The probe weighs in the ballpark of 300 pounds, and thus requires two people to effectively transport. Carrying handles mounted to the side make the probe more ergonomic to hold. A Young 05103 Anemometer was added for the 2009 season to measure horizontal wind speed and direction. Equipment such as a datalogger and a larger battery to power it and the anemometer were also probably included. It is unknown if the effects on the anemometer's placement were measured or considered due to the proximity of the anemometer to the rest of the probe and the dome. This, and purely measuring the horizontal wind speed and nothing else makes it unlikely to be useful from a scientific perspective. The status of the probe is currently unknown.
In game, the probe is the cheapest and offers the best video out of any of the probes. This is it's main draw, as it's low durability doesn't make it useful for much else.

Developed by CSWR in the mid 2000s, the POD is one of the most recognizable tornado probes ever developed. The design is straightfoward, a simple mast made of square tube steel mounted to a steel plate. Carrying handles allow for easier transport of the 120 pound probe on foot. Red reflectors were placed on the mast to allow for better visibility in poor lighting conditions, and sometimes red lights were placed on top. PODs have been used in numerous field programs, most notably V2, were they were deployed alongside StickNets and DistroNets. PODs have the ability to live transmit data while deployed for long periods of time. PODs are much quicker to set up compared to StickNets, despite weighing six times more. They also have the potential to be more durable than StickNets, given their all metal construction. This makes them ideal for close-range in and out deployments where time is of the essence. They have two major downsides, the first, having no capabilities to level themselves, require a flat area to set up. Their traditional multiplate radiation shield, while ideal for low power applications, also has the potential to cause significant error in temperature and humidity measurements. However, very few tornado probes have even attempted to measure temperature and humidity inside tornadoes. Only the TWISTEX TOWER uses a forced aspiration shield to keep out water. StickNets also use a multi-plate radiation shield, however it is not intended for tornadic core measurements. The pressure sensor on the POD is simply placed in a box, rather than a proper vented pressure port. These measurements were not used for scientific application.
During the 2008 Season, a POD was welded on to the roof of TIV 1 in order to replace it's instrument mast. While functional, the POD did not have an external power supply like a traditional mobile mesonet, which limited when it could be used. The height was also significantly decreased, leading to potentially erroneous wind measurements, and the multiplate radiation shield would not have worked at all as a replacement for a J tube.

Dorothy is a special probe based off the TOTO, its used by Bill and Jo Harding in the movie "Twister". In the movie The Probe is meant to create an advanced warning system by opening its lid in a tornado and have many probelets fly into a tornado, However in Twisted it acts the same as every other probe.
It's name is based off of Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz"
The Dorothy probe lasts for approximately 9 minutes and 15 seconds, with a income of approximately $14 ($28 with 2x) per second, or $840 ($1,680) per minute. This gives it an approximate lifetime income of $7,770 ($15,540). Or a profit value of $6,820 ($14,590). It should be kept in mind that you gain bonus money for going over specific windspeeds so these calculations are not 100% accurate

The TOtoable Tornado Observatory, Nicknamed "TOTO", Nicknamed after Dorothy's dog in "The Wizard of Oz", is a probe that was deployed in 1980 several times for storm chasing, and was retired after 1987 due to safety issues. TOTO was sideswiped by the edge of a tornado, however it's center of mass was too high and the winds tipped it over before anything useful could be gleaned. It is, however, the first recorded attempt at purposefully placing a hardened sensor platform inside a tornado. It was also deployed on non-tornadic storms, where it was used to monitor wind conditions in phenomena such as gust fronts. It currently is on display at the National Weather Center on the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman, OK.
The TOTO lasts for approximately 8 minutes and 10 seconds, with a income of approximately $16 ($32 with 2x) per second, or $960 ($1,920) per minute. This gives it an approximate lifetime income of $7,840 ($15,680). Or a profit value of $6,840 ($14,680). It should be kept in mind that you gain bonus money for going over specific windspeeds so these calculations are not 100% accurate. The TOTO is better than the TWISTEX probe when it comes to very slow moving tornadoes.

These probes were used by the late Tim Samaras as part of the TWISTEX project. Also known as the "Turtle", their unique aerodynamic design allows them to be fairly light (as far as probes go, 40 pounds) carried comfortably by one person, and several can be fit in one vehicle without much trouble. They are very easy to set up and deploy, and if done well, a deployment can be done under 15 seconds. Each HITPR measures Temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure sampled 0.1Hz. On June 24th 2003, several were deployed on the Manchester, SD tornado. One probe recorded a record pressure drop of 100 mb inside the funnel as the F4 passed directly overhead. Houses near the probe were completely destroyed with debris strewn downwind, while gravel was completely removed from the road. The probe didn't move an inch. The media probe is much larger, heavier, and cumbersome, but based on the original HITPR design. It features seven cameras for 360 degree video, intended for photogrammetry analysis of tornado debris. It was first deployed in the 2002 tornado season up through 2013. The fate of the remaining HITPRs and media probe is unknown.
The HITPR Instrument probe lasts for approximately 14 minutes and 45 seconds, with a income of approximately $12 ($24 with 2x) per second, or $720 ($1,440) per minute. This gives it an approximate lifetime income of $10,620 ($21,240). Or a profit value of $9,770 ($19,540). It should be kept in mind that you gain bonus money for going over specific windspeeds so these calculations are not 100% accurate. You will almost never see this max profit value, as tornadoes will very ever rarely sit on these probes for more than 3 minutes.

The TWISTEX Tower Probe was a Probe used by the ill fated TWISTEX project. The probe was unique in it's attempt to measure wind speed and direction at multiple heights, a forced-aspiration radiation shield for more accurate temperature and humidity measurements in high winds, as well as several smoke bombs used for visualizing airflow near the probe. The 2011 version heavily modified the original design, adding a modified pitot-tube anemometer(similar to those used on aircraft) developed in house by TWISTEX. Theoretically, it enabled the probe to measure wind speeds above 300 mph, a range that no traditional mechanical or ultrasonic anemometer could even approach. The 2010 version (depicted in Twisted) weighs close to 400 pounds, with the 2011 version approaching 450. Because of it's weight, TOWER was uniquely carried on a lift during the 2010 season, lowered and then slid off during deployments. In 2011, the probe was kept on a dolly and wheeled down a ramp before being set up. This also meant that TOWER required a new probe truck that could comfortably carry it, the team's other gear, and the Discovery camera crew's equipment (from 2010-2011). Due to financial troubles, TWISTEX could not afford a full project deployment during the 2013 season, including the probe truck, so the TOWER was put into storage. TWISTEX would deploy one Chevrolet Cobalt chase vehicle carrying HITPR instruments during the day, and do high speed lightning photography at night using a special trailer. The fate of TOWER is currently unknown.
The TWISTEX probe lasts for approximately 6 minutes, with a income of approximately $18 ($36 with 2x) per second, or $1,080 ($2,160) per minute. This gives it an approximate lifetime income of $6,480 ($12,960). Or a profit value of $5,230 ($10,460). It should be kept in mind that you gain bonus money for going over specific windspeeds so these calculations are not 100% accurate. The TWISTEX probe is great for faster moving tornadoes.

It has 3 gas stations as well as several offices and facilities such as a Siriway, a variety of houses including apartments, Hazelton Fire Station, Hazelton Hospital on the east side of town and the National Weather Service Station and radar site is on the west side of town. There is also a memorial in the town center mentioned below. Most people wait at the gas station on the west side of Hazelton while waiting for storms. Immediately southwest of Hazelton sits a set of hills which Wadena County 22 winds through up the hills. There are several small bound homes giving a good view over Hazelton. The area is also heavily forested, making storm chasing somewhat inconvenient here although there is a tower at the top of the hill. North of Hazelton lies Hazelton Lakes, a subdivision with plenty of lakeside homes, some with floating docks.
Monuments:
The Memorial Park
A park dedicated to all who helped and were there at the very beginning of the game. Includes the usernames of many players, and shows the main Twisted Development Team. The memorial park is located in downtown Hazelton
Helma
A view of Helma from atop residual pile. A view of Helma from atop residual pile. Population: Unlisted Gas station: No Helma is an abandoned mining town in Beltrami County, You can find decaying houses; some of which are just a foundation slab. It is on Keysota 41 and Beltrami 48 just east of Prior Lake. Northeast of Helma is an abandoned uranium mine that players can explore, a flashlight is recommended for going into the mines since the inside of the tunnels are mostly dark and have low visibility. During the Halloween Update, the inside of the mines could be partially lit by the players eyes, but this would only light a small area in front of the player. Spiders with glowing green eyes could also be found during the Halloween Update patrolling the mines, instantly killing players that made physical contact with it.
Hibbing
Population: 10,272 Gas Station: Yes Hibbing is the third largest city situated at the southwest portion of the map by a large lake. It is a decent spawn due to the fact that storms frequently spawn at the southwest corner and it is not uncommon to see storm chasers chasing through the area. The city has a lake, a gas station, a variety of houses including apartments, Hibbing Hospital, Willmart, an airport and a radar site at the airport. Hibbing is nearby Route 41, a 4-lane highway that goes directly to the east side of the map passing by Helma on the way and crossing the Wenatchee River. Keysota 71 also passes through the town, providing good links to the north, the southeast and the south. Keysota State Forest also sits just south of town. Due to the lake nearby, there is good visibility for any storms and tornadoes coming from the southwest.
Hiram
Population: 5,826 Gas Station: Yes Hiram is a medium-sized town situated in Wadena County along the Wenatchee River. Despite the town's average size, Hiram tends to be a relatively popular meet-up point outside of Hazelton. Hiram consists of many houses, a gas station in the town center, a Siriway, a Willmart, a water tower as well as several shops and offices. As well as being a relatively popular spot for storm chasers to meet-up, Hiram is also quite prone to storms and tornadoes rolling through the area.
Mizpah
Population: 3,699 Gas Station: Yes Mizpah is a town located in the southwest corner of the map. Mizpah tends to be the start point for many storms travelling northeast and as a result, Mizpah isn't impacted by tornadoes very often and tends to miss the brunt of storms although at times storms coming in from the north may impact Mizpah. The town isn't very active with only some homes and a gas station in the town. Wadena 9 County and Keysota 35's straights provide good road linkage to Hibbing and Starbuck.
Nateville
Population: Unlisted Gas Station: No Nateville is a very small town located south of Hiram, in Beltrami County. Nateville has a bunch of mobile homes. Driving will be insufficient as the roads are made of gravel. Nateville connects to only Wadena Route 10, which makes storm chasing somewhat inconvenient. There is a bunker, so if a strong tornado hits, you can stay in there.
Palzoid
A wide view of Palzoid afar. A wide view of Palzoid afar. Population: Unlisted Gas Station: No Palzoid is a small settlement of 2-story houses located north of Hazelton. Labelled a "tornado magnet" back in version 1.15, normally it gets cored by a tornado after a couple days. Great for storm chasing, but not a great place to live, unless you like rebuilding houses for a living. It sits out in the plains though so visibility for any oncoming storms is good here although it is not a very popular spot. In version 1.21, it is a hotspot for people to spawn in, because it is in the center of the map, and it is convenient to get to other places on the map.
Peshtigo
A wide view of Peshtigo. A wide view of Peshtigo. Population: Unlisted Gas Station: Yes Petishigo is a small town located in the southern-eastern part of the map, in a suburban area close to Starbuck and Viroqua.
Prior Lake
Population: 3,752 Gas Station: Yes Prior Lake is a medium-sized town southeast of Trent. It contains a gas station and a few stores. Prior Lake has a suburban neighborhood which features many different kinds of homes including one story homes, two-story homes and lake side homes. It replaced Wannaska in the 1.20 update. In the 1.21 update, new development had been added in southeast Prior Lake. There is now a “Truc-ees” Truck stop east of Prior Lake, which is much larger than the main gas station, and features truck sized parking bays which are more suitable for players who want to meet with DOW trucks or larger vehicles. The Prior Lake gas station is one of the spawn points for Prior Lake and a common meeting point for storm chasers. If you want to find a team, go there.
Sneed
Population: N/A Gas Station: No Sneed is a large regional power plant in northeastern Wadena County. There isn't much else to Sneed, besides some signs and trees if you're into that. It also has the Wenatchee River about 69 ft. south from the Power Plant. It also has Wadena Route 22 and Wadena Route 54 running through it, which are important routes for going to and from Wadena and Hiram. Chasers going through this area don't usually tend to stay, most likely because of the lack of buildings. It was removed and replaced with a dam in 1.19. Nearby you can find an old storm shelter and a few destroyed buildings from a tornado years earlier
Starbuck
Population: 7,252 Gas Station: Yes Starbuck is a medium-sized town located at the south side of the map. It has some homes and offices, as well as a Siriway and a gas station. Starbuck is heavily forested around apart from the east side of town so storms and tornadoes rolling through the area could be inconvenient to chase. Starbuck does see a relatively decent amount of storms and although quite distant from the rest of the settlements, Keysota 5 and Keysota 15 roll through the town with I-33 just being east of town so links to the town are good.
Sylvia
Population: Unlisted Gas Station: Yes Sylvia is a small settlement located east of Viroqua and north of Syre. Although generally quiet, there are a few homes and some trees as well as a community storm shelter and a gas station, well and convenient for anyone rolling through the area. Just like Cherokee Village, storms do tend to roll through the area so storm chasers may roll through here and now although Sylvia's additional facilities such as a storm shelter and containing the only gas station for some distance in the region makes the small settlement particularly useful for chases and ventures in the southeast.
Syre
An afar view of Syre. An afar view of Syre. Population: Unlisted Gas Station: No Syre is a small settlement located in the southeast of the map. Tucked away in the southeast with only a few houses and seldom visited by storms, Syre is a very quiet area and storm chasers are a rare sight in Syre. In fact someone who has been storm chasing for over a year has said that they have seen every settlement been hit by a tornado apart from Syre despite several close calls; Although for people wanting to get away from the crowd, Syre is a very settled and calm location. This town has a blind spot in Radar (Both THIB and KHZL) due to its isolated location
Tenstrike
A view of Tenstrike close-up. A view of Tenstrike close-up. Population: Unlisted Gas Station: Yes Tenstrike is a well-sized and spread out settlement east of Hazelton and I-33, south of Gemmell. Tenstrike mostly consists of trailer homes and bungalows with some barns about although there is a gas station and a community storm shelter in town. With Gemmell and Hazelton being a relatively short drive away, Tenstrike is located rather conveniently and good road links provide a nice settlement for those who want more space. Tenstrike and Gemmell are both good spots to wait for incoming storms from the west and the southwest of the map. Originally named Tenkiller, the town was renamed to Tenstrike in the 1.20 update. In the centre of Tenstrike, a repair workshop can be found, along with the tiv2guy technologies garage opposite the repair side containing an early version of the DOW 6 that's had its doppler radar dismantled and taken off the back of the truck.
Trent
Population: 738 Gas Station: No Trent is a town with a massive area. It is located northeast of Hibbing and northwest of Prior Lake. Storms are most likely to spawn here or pass by.
Viroqua and West Viroqua
Population: 14,796 (excluding West Viroqua) Gas Station: Yes Viroqua is a major town and the 2nd biggest city in the game located along the Wenatchee River. The river divides Viroqua from West Viroqua, connecting the two sides is the bridge where there's also a border for the two counties with Viroqua being located in Cherokee County and West Viroqua being located in Beltrami County. On the east side of the river sits Viroqua which contains a gas station, a Siriway as well as several shops and offices.you can find an apartment complex with a pool. On the west side of the river sits West Viroqua where there are some two-story homes. Strong tornadoes come over to this area, which is great, but not a great place to live at, unless you want to get swept by a tornado. The area is heavily forested; storm chasing may be quite inconvenient in this area although the area is quite picturesque to visitors.
Wadena
Population: 5,227 Gas Station: Yes Wadena is a medium sized town located in the northeast of the map with the mountains to the northeast towering over. It has many houses dotting the outskirts whilst the downtown area is chock-full with plenty of shops and apartments in addition to a Siriway and a Willmart as well. The city also has the Wenatchee River located to the east of it and several towns and settlements nearby within easy reach. Wadena can be prone to storms rolling through the area and seeing violent tornadoes pass by or through the town is not an uncommon sight.
Waubun
Population: Unlisted Gas Station: Yes Waubun is a small community located northwest of Hazelton. It features a gas station and multiple two-story homes. It replaced Waukesha in the 1.20 update.
Whelchel and Whelchel Valley
Whelchel & Whelchel Valley at the map Whelchel & Whelchel Valley at the map Population: Unlisted Gas Station: No Whelchel and the Whelchel Valley are rural communities southwest of Hazelton and northeast of Funkley. They only contain a few mobile homes scattered around and are difficult to access due to the fact they only have gravel roads and hilly terrain. They were originally removed in the 1.16 updated, but were re-added in the 1.20 update.

Enabled · After character · Order 1200 · 100%
Entry settings
Introduction If you're reading this, you likely know the ins and outs of the radar system and thermodynamics. If not, go and read the guide.
Now then, Intercepting a tornado can be exciting for a first-time player, but you likely won't know how to get an intercept in the first place unless you've looked at another intercept guide. and if you don't, this is the guide you need. Let's get started, shall we?
Types of Interception Probe Interception
Probes are placed in the path of the tornado and are left there to collect data when the tornado impacts them, generating money if the windspeeds are over 65 mph.
Vehicle Interception
You position your vehicle directly in the path of the tornado to intercept it. It is highly recommended to use an intercept vehicle for this, as many tornadoes have winds above 100 mph (161 km/h), which are strong enough to drag or lift dealership vehicles. You are vulnerable to getting injured if your car is lifted, regardless of if it is a dealership vehicle or not.
Intercepting The Normal Way
Step 1: Finding The Tornado
Radar will show roughly where the tornado is and how strong it is. The TVS Icon will show both of those, but using base velocity mode is recommended because it gives more granular information. Note that the radar is programmed by the developers to not be entirely accurate, especially with the location of the TVS Icon[CITATION NEEDED]. If there is a radar truck nearby the tornado, it is recommended to switch to its radar as they refresh faster. Make sure the radar truck is still active from time-to-time.
Step 2: Getting Close
Once you've found the tornado, you need to get ahead of the tornado. Its rough direction can be gauged by using the red Tornado Warning polygon, which will help you get in the path. Once you have the tornado's path is recommended to find a road near the far edge of the Tornado Warning polygon to give yourself more time to set up, though this is not required.
Once you're in the path, you can use a point of reference to make smaller adjustments. You can use a mesonet or your mouse cursor. If the tornado is moving relative to your point of reference, move that direction and repeat. Once the tornado is no longer moving compared to your point of reference, you are in position. Keep in mind, the tornado can still shift paths. Now that you are in position, there are two kinds of intercept, one with probes only or one with an intercept vehicle.
Note: Using the measuring tool on the Tornado Warning polygon can help you see the tornado's path more accurately. To use it, you measure from the center of the polygon's short end to the center of the polygon's long end; the resulting line is the tornado's current path, which can change over time. Make sure to remeasure occasionally.
Step 3a: Intercepting With Probes
Once the tornado approaches, place down all of your probes. Placing one probe on either end of your vehicle then placing the remaining probes in the center is recommended. Once you have placed all of your probes, drive a safe distance away. Tornadoes with winds over 100 mph (161 km/h) can pick up dealership cars. Stronger tornadoes require more distance.
Step 3b: Intercepting With an Interceptor
If you have an interceptor, follow the probe placing instructions in step 3a first, but instead of driving away, re-enter your interceptor and deploy it once your probes are placed. While intercepting, keep an eye on the windspeed, as strong or violent tornadoes may still be able to lift your interceptor, especially if it is a lower end interceptor such as the Twister Tamer, Dominator 1, TIV-1, or Tornado Attack Vehicle.
Step 4: After Intercepting
After you have finished intercepting the tornado, wait until the wind speeds stay below 60 mph (100 km/h) to get out of your vehicle and retrieve your probes. If the tornado is still alive after you've finished intercepting, you can repeat these steps to intercept it again.
Tips Other players will often give tips in chat about a tornado's strength and size. Use these to plan accordingly While not recommended without an interceptor, you may be able to drive through some tornadoes if you are moving fast enough.
