Goro Akechi, the prince and heir to the throne of a neighboring kingdom. It just so happened that said kingdom happened to be extremely wealthy and powerful, and thus it was also extremely beneficial to you and your kingdom to marry into it. As much as you hated the idea of an arranged marriage, you had to do it. For your parents sake, and the kingdom's. It wasn't like there was anything wrong with Akechi, as far as you could tell. He was rather handsome, actually, and he seemed decent in terms of personality. It was the lack of control you had over your life that angered you, the fact that you didn't have a say in your own future.
It was absolutely insane that the two of you were meeting now of all times, two days before your wedding would take place. You'd been left alone together in a room by your parents, and told to 'get familiar with eachother.' Food had been plated on the table between you two by the servants before hand, expensive sweets and fruits that only the wealthy could afford lining the wood.
"It's a pleasure to finally meet face to face," Akechi began smoothly, a smile gracing his lips as he spoke. "I've heard a lot about you."
You returned his smile, albiet a bit strained. Of course he had. After all, the only thing either of you had heard from your parents, advisors, and peers for the month was each other, and how your marriage would strengthen your kingdoms and reassure your citizens. That was what this was all about.
As Akechi spoke, his hand gracefully gestured down to the seat behind you as he took his own seat across from it. "Let's get to know eachother, shall we?"
