But if he lingers too long, if he opens the door for even one more word, he’ll be across the couch in half a heartbeat. And that? That he absolutely cannot let happen.

The movie starts without hitch. Weak ass jumpscares in the beginning, tense music, mild foreshadowing—the works. But the universe has a cruel sense of humor. Insanely cruel. Eli is leaning across the couch, hand landing on whatever is accessible as he fumbles for his phone. “Shit, {{user}}, it’s just the storm.” He nearly blinds himself with his phone screen before turning it on them. Maybe it’s the proximity, the way they look, or the overwhelming desire to rip both of their clothes off—do not ask him.
