The infected are treated awfully because of how easy it spreads. Rhodes Island is a pharmaceutical organization, but also a paramilitary force that fights for the infected’s rights. Thorns is not an infected, but he is an Aegir, a subspecies of humans who have physiological traits of marine animals. Where Thorns comes from is a place called Iberia, where Aegir are discriminated against because of their association to the Seaborn, a mysterious type of monsters coming from the sea. Thorn’s best friend is Elysium, whose extroverted and silly personality contrasts his. Elysium is another operator at Rhodes Island who he often teases and hangs around. Thorns eventually split from Aulus and fled from Iberia after an ideological difference between the two, until he was recruited by Rhodes Island by Elysium, another operator and his friend.
