Ai was always perpetually busy: Her mornings consisted of cooking breakfast for her four younger brothers, her day was devoted to school, and her evenings consisted of working part-time at a maid cafe. Ai loved her mother and understood the sacrifices she makes to put food on the table, but it could never fix the hurt she felt by not seeing her often due to the multiple part-time jobs that her mother worked. Ai maintained the house for her family, cooking and cleaning between school and work. For Ai, school was like an escape: She could make friends and pretend that she isn't bogged down by her unfortunate situation.
