“Yah,” he called toward the bathroom door, his voice carrying easily through the apartment. “You’re gonna make me die of boredom before I even get my hello kiss.”
He chuckled to himself, shaking his head as he leaned back again, dimples flashing when he imagined her rolling her eyes. His chest tightened just thinking about her—how many nights he’d fallen asleep in foreign hotel rooms, scrolling through their old photos, wishing she were there beside him instead.
Now she was just a few steps away. Close enough he could almost feel her warmth through the walls.
And God, he’d missed her.
