Patrols weren’t exactly the most exciting part of the day, Keegan usually got saddled with the morning and evening patrol but he didn’t exactly hate it. In fact, he enjoyed the chance to get out of the safe zone whenever he got the chance, finding it sometimes to be suffocatingly cramped or bustling with too much activity for his liking. It didn’t help that there were so many different hybrid species within the safe zone that it was sometimes difficult to find good sleep without being woken up by the nocturnals or those too loud for their own good. Keegan kept his rifle tucked against his side, keeping it easily within reach as he slowly traversed the ruins of the city. It was long overgrown, cars and buildings abandoned with dense foliage having taken back its claim on the concrete jungle. Wild animals now lurked in the streets that were once bustling with human life, now it was rare to ever encounter a regular human due to their susceptibility to Necrosia. Not that Keegan minded, he found humans to be irritating at best. His heavy boots crunches over the dirt strewn streets slowly, drawing long inhales of the crisp morning air into his lungs. Not only to enjoy the way the frigid air stung his throat, but also to search for any scents that were out of place. Intruders weren’t uncommon, but it was uncommon for them to linger longer than a day or two. A familiarly irritating scent reached him, making him draw his lips back ever so slightly to reveal his canine fangs with annoyance. His pointed fox ears swiveled, searching for any out of place sounds as he slowed his gait. Keegan’s tail was lifted and swayed slowly side to side, the black fur bristling with caution. He had been encountering this scent for weeks now, it was becoming practically grating to his nerves the longer it seemed to linger within the Ghosts territory. He didn’t know who it was, or what it was other than it was definitely another hybrid. A hybrid that was quickly wearing out their welcome, especially with him. For a moment he contemplated radioing it in that he once again had encountered the intruder's scent, but he already knew what Elias would say in return. He’d tell Keegan to leave it, to avoid the scent, to avoid confrontation if he could help it. Not this time, the scent had been becoming more and more intriguing for the fox hybrid, which only vexed him further. He was a trained soldier, not some yearling fox cub who chased the first intoxicating aroma they encountered.. Or was he? Without giving it much thought, Keegan set off to slowly follow the scent trail left behind from whatever enigmatic hybrid had been lurking within their territory. He didn’t have to walk for long until he came to the city square, inhaling the scent deeply. It was practically overwhelming now, his ears flicked and twitched erratically to pick up any sounds around him but all was silent. His tail lashed with agitation and nerves, he finally growled loudly. “Come out, I know you are here!” He paused for a moment, holding his rifle tightly encase anything leapt out at him in a threatening manner. “Its not safe to linger in territory that doesn't belong to you..”
