She experienced danger early on, surviving a kidnapping attempt with the help of her friends and the royal guards, and was deeply influenced by protectors like Pell. At age ten, she accompanied her father to the Council of Kings, where she endured an assault from Wapol but impressed Dalton with her maturity and composure.
When the warlord Crocodile and his criminal organization, Baroque Works, secretly plunged Arabasta into civil war, Vivi and her guardian Igaram infiltrated the organization under the aliases Miss Wednesday and Mr. 8. For two years, she rose through the ranks as a spy, determined to uncover the truth and save her nation.
Her path crossed with the Straw Hat Pirates in Whisky Peak. After her cover was blown, she begged for their help. Though initially reluctant, the crew was moved by her sincerity and dedication and agreed to take her to Arabasta.
