Nighteye Agency
Izuku Midoriya vs. Sir. Nighteye Sir Nighteye challenges Izuku. Izuku reaches out to Gran Torino for a Work-Study opportunity. Gran Torino has to refuse because he's busy working with the Police. He suggests that Izuku ask All Might about working with his former sidekick. Izuku does this, but All Might refuses because he has a broken relationship with Sir Nighteye. All Might asks Mirio Togata to introduce Izuku and he accepts.
Mirio takes Izuku to Sir Nighteye's office and tells him he must make Sir laugh to be accepted. Izuku messes up his first impression but gains Sir Nighteye's interest. Sir decides to challenge Izuku for his employment. He's unimpressed with All Might's decision to pass on One For All to Izuku. He even tells the young student that he's unworthy and that Mirio should've been the one to inherit One For All.
Izuku refuses Sir Nighteye's words and fights on. Sir Nighteye is impressed with Izuku's focus as he fights without ruining the All Might memorabilia posted across the office. Sir Nighteye decides to employ Izuku, but reveals that he's only doing it to crush Izuku's confidence. Izuku accepts the challenge and day one of the Work-Study begins immediately. Izuku learns of Sir Nighteye's investigation of the Shie Hassaikai and their leader, Overhaul.
Overhaul encounters Deku Deku encounters Eri and Overhaul. Sir Nighteye goes on patrol with Bubble Girl while Izuku joins Mirio. While on patrol, a young girl runs into Izuku. He falls over and looks up to notice Overhaul is the man looking for her. Mirio is able to keep Izuku calm to stop Overhaul from getting suspicious.
Eri refuses to go back with Overhaul, who claims to be her father. Izuku decides to protect the young girl and this irritates Overhaul. The masked villain shows his killer instinct and Eri runs back to his side to protect the heroes from his wrath.
Izuku and Mirio return to Sir Nighteye and inform him about what happened. Sir apologizes for allowing them to run into a dangerous villain. Izuku tells Sir about the young girl but Sir says they can't act until they've waited for the right moment. Overhaul covers his criminal movements well and they must not act hastily against him. Sir orders the duo to return to the office and Izuku's first day comes to an end.

The morning air felt sharper than usual—like it knew this day mattered. Izuku Midoriya stood just outside the agency building, his gloved hands clenched at his sides. He’d rehearsed this moment a dozen times in his head, but now that he was actually here, his thoughts were spiraling faster than he could keep up with.
’First day. Work study. Sir Nighteye’s agency. I have to make a good impression. No more than good. Perfect—’
“Hey, Midoriya!”
Izuku flinched slightly before turning. Mirio was already halfway up the steps, sunlight practically bouncing off his grin.
“C’mon, don’t just stand there,” Mirio called, waving him over. “You’ll wear a hole in the sidewalk at that rate!”
Izuku hurried up to him. “R-Right! Sorry! I was just—thinking—about procedures and expectations and—”
Mirio laughed, easy and warm. “Yeah, you do that a lot, huh?”
Izuku scratched the back of his head, embarrassed. “I’m just nervous. This is a big opportunity.”
Mirio’s expression softened, but his energy didn’t drop. If anything, it steadied like a reassuring anchor.
“Hey,” he said, stepping closer. “You earned this. Sir’s strict, yeah—but he wouldn’t have agreed to take you on if he didn’t see something real in you.”
Izuku blinked. “You really think so?”
“I know so.”
For a moment, the nerves loosened their grip. Mirio turned and pushed open the agency doors. “Alright! Let’s get you inside before Sir thinks I’ve ditched my duties.”
The interior was spotless, almost intimidatingly so. Clean lines, quiet staff, everything moving with precise purpose. Izuku straightened instinctively.
’This place… it’s different. Serious. Efficient. Every movement counts.’
Mirio leaned in slightly. “Quick tip—Sir loves punctuality, and he really loves humor.”
Izuku froze. “H-Humor?”
“Yep!” Mirio grinned. “He believes a hero should bring smiles as much as safety. So, if you can make him laugh…” He gave a thumbs up. “You’re golden.”
Izuku’s brain immediately kicked into overdrive.
’Make Sir Nighteye laugh. What kind of humor? Situational? Verbal? Physical? Should I prepare jokes? Is there a preferred structure—’
“Midoriya.”
Izuku snapped back to reality.
A tall figure stood at the end of the hallway, posture straight, gaze sharp enough to cut through steel.
Mirio’s grin didn’t fade, but it did shift—more respectful now. “Sir. Brought him right on time.”
Izuku bowed quickly, nearly stumbling. “G-Good morning! Thank you for allowing me to—”
Sir Nighteye raised a hand, silencing him with minimal effort. The room seemed to tighten around that single gesture.
“…We will see,” he said calmly. “Whether your presence here proves worthwhile.”
Izuku swallowed, heart pounding.
Mirio nudged him lightly, whispering just loud enough. “You got this.”
Izuku straightened again, determination flickering behind his nerves.
’This is it. No backing down.’
“Y-Yes, sir!”
And just like that, his first day began.
