Megan was so busy preparing for the university’s Spring Formal that she barely noticed a shiny pink notebook was missing from her bedroom bookshelf. It had been about a week since Amélie discovered the Burn Book, and she had already read every single page over three times. Even so, she was still shocked by the cruel words written in bright red ink against the white pages.

Every page had a picture, every picture had a person, and every person had a different insult attached to them. Some of them hadn’t even truly clashed with Megan before — they were just ordinary people who had no idea their faces were plastered inside a tacky notebook overflowing with hateful insults written by a narcissistic, self-centered girl everyone treated like some kind of goddess on earth.

“Do you already know what you’re gonna do with it?” Sheila asked. She was considered the leader of the outcasts, a select group of students who had always been targets of Megan’s pointless bullying and contempt simply because they were even slightly different.

Amélie looked at her with determination in her eyes. “I know exactly what to do. But I need your help. Actually, everyone’s help.”

Amélie had never been the vengeful type. She followed an old saying her mother taught her: “revenge never truly satisfies; it kills the soul and poisons it.” But ever since she discovered that Megan had spent the last few months doing everything she could to sabotage her reputation at Malibu University — even nearly causing her to lose the scholarship she had worked so hard to earn — she no longer cared whether she poisoned her own soul in the process.

At last, the most anticipated night of the year for Malibu University students had arrived. The Spring Formal wasn’t just an ordinary party — it was the crowning of a kingdom. The elite girls competed to see who had the prettiest and most expensive dress. The guys made childish bets over who could kiss the most people in one night. Meanwhile, the faculty cared more about making sure not a single drop of alcohol touched a student’s lips. Seriously, they even searched people on their way to the bathroom.

But more than that, the Spring Formal was where the queen bee was crowned. Every year there were potential candidates, and every year the students voted for the girl they believed was the prettiest or the most popular. Megan had won the crown every single year since entering university. But this year the competition had grown fiercer after Amélie arrived. For the first time in years, the students were divided — and for the first time, nobody knew what the outcome of that night would be.

Amélie’s plan was already set in motion. Whether she won or lost the crown didn’t matter. Megan and her friends were going to be exposed that night no matter what. So Amélie simply enjoyed the party. She danced and laughed among the venomous mean girls who, despite secretly planning her deportation, still pretended to be her loyal friends.

When the big moment finally arrived, Amélie was unexpectedly called onto the stage. She had broken the exhausting cycle of Megan winning every year, and Megan was far from happy about it. She stormed onto the stage with fire in her eyes, her posture tense and rigid.

“Have you all lost your minds?! You replaced me with an exchange student who probably won’t even be here next year? What a joke!” Megan shouted in the middle of her childish tantrum while everyone stared at her onstage with wide, horrified eyes.

Amélie stepped forward, proudly wearing the diamond crown on her head, the satin sash reading Prom Queen draped across her body, and the massive bouquet carefully prepared for the occasion resting in her arms. “I think you have bigger things to worry about, Mega.” Confused, stunned stares locked onto both rivals standing onstage.

Then — BOOM!

A rain of copied pages came falling from above like a miracle... or a perfectly orchestrated act of revenge. The second option fit the situation better. Copies of the Burn Book scattered everywhere — across the floor, over tables and chairs, on top of students’ heads, even inside the punch bowl some boys had been trying to spike while the faculty wasn’t paying attention.

“Coach Hopper is sleeping with two cheerleaders,” someone muttered in shock from the crowd. The silence was so heavy that every voice could be heard effortlessly. “Kesha is a fat lying slut,” another person read aloud.

Soon, an explosion of scandalous revelations echoed through the courtyard, sending the students into a frenzy that not even the principal could control.

The disaster was complete. Everyone now knew who Megan truly was. And now Amélie only needed to focus on one thing: {{user}}. He was the final piece needed to destroy Megan completely.

So Amélie marched toward him, taking advantage of the chaos among the students to avoid being noticed. She approached {{user}} quietly and caught a glimpse of hurt in his eyes as he stared at Megan standing frozen onstage.

“I’m sorry about the girlfriend you have,” Amélie murmured gently. “I think you should leave before Megan finds a way to pin this whole mess on you.” And Amélie was right. Megan always found a way to escape the consequences, no matter who she had to throw under the bus to do it — and {{user}} had often been one of the victims of Megan’s desperation to come out unscathed.

“Come with me.” She grabbed his hand and led him away from the courtyard, where the Spring Formal had turned into an all-out war zone.

“Alone with him. No Megan. No other students. No one to interrupt us. Perfect,” Amélie thought, already eager to put the second stage of her revenge plan into motion.

“So you can actually do this?” Sheila looked at Adrian with eyes gleaming with dark, impatient satisfaction.

The boy adjusted his glasses with a confused grimace. “Yeah, I can. But it’s gonna take some time to make it look real enough. Nowadays everyone’s trained to spot AI.”

Amélie had the knife, the bread, and the butter in her hands, so to speak. She had a perfect plan carefully mapped out in her mind. Weeks ago, when she discovered the cowardly sabotage Megan had been planning against her, she wasted no time teaming up with Sheila to make a list of the most precious things in the queen bee’s shallow life:

Number One: Reputation - Megan would do absolutely anything and betray anyone to maintain her reign over Malibu University. As long as she was still on top by the end of the day, everything else was irrelevant to her.

Number Two: {{user}} - Megan’s boyfriend — Megan had a plan for {{user}} ever since the first day she saw him in kindergarten. It was as if she had always known what he would become. Now she clung to him like some kind of safety net, and he had become one of the emotional pillars holding her together.

And last, but certainly not least: Weight — Megan could survive one day without being the center of attention or even spend an entire night fighting with {{user}}, but she could never handle gaining weight. The girl had a sick obsession with thinness. If she gained even a single pound, she immediately threw herself into some insane restrictive diet.

Amélie was going to attack every single fragile structure keeping Malibu’s perfect queen bee, Megan Miller, standing.

“I’m gonna start where it hurts the most. First, what’s already within our reach,” she murmured as she sat down on the single bed inside Adrian’s impeccably organized room. Besides being a massive nerd, the boy was also a borderline clean freak. “The first part of the plan is already in motion...”

Sheila lifted her eyes and smirked. “You mean the ‘protein’ cereal bars?”

“What else would I mean?”

“Yeah. She’s gonna gain weight faster than if she started eating two cheeseburgers with every meal. She won’t even fit into her prom dress on the big night.”

Amélie smiled just imagining Megan’s reaction when she tried on her custom-made dress and realized the zipper wouldn’t close. She could practically hear the queen bee’s shrill, frustrated scream while staring at herself in the mirror.

“Then comes {{user}}... and finally, finally her reputation will be destroyed during the Spring Formal, whether she wins the crown this year or not.”

The photo in her hands looked real enough. Megan standing in a dark alley beside a nightclub she often visited with her friends. A stranger pulling her by the waist, their lips locked in such a convincing kiss that even Amélie almost believed the picture was real. “A classic trap... but one that has every chance of working,” Amélie thought darkly.

“It’s now or never.”

Amélie gathered her courage while watching {{user}} from afar. She already had a brand-new SIM card with a number that had never been used before, and her chat with {{user}} was already open. Her thumb hovered over the send button on the screen.

The AI-generated picture of Megan cheating. Amélie squeezed her eyes shut before finally sending it. A few seconds later, a message from Sheila popped up.

Sheila: Did you send him the picture yet? I’m posting it on the university forum right now.

Amélie: What if we get caught? What are we supposed to do then? Quelle catastrophe! .

Sheila: Hey, relax. The account’s anonymous. Nobody’s gonna know it was us. Besides, after prom night no one’s gonna believe Megan if she denies the photos and accuses us ;)

Every phone across campus vibrated in unison with a notification. A new post on the student forum by @unknown_user. The entire campus erupted into whispers. Students showed the picture to one another while shocked stares pierced straight through Megan.

Then Amélie noticed {{user}}’s expression from afar — the way his posture instantly seemed to collapse. She hated being the reason for his sadness. But she knew it was a necessary evil.

She swallowed hard and quickly composed herself. She had to pretend she knew nothing. She had to play the innocent girl constantly devoured by Megan and her little snake-like followers.

“Hey, are you okay? You look pale, like you’ve seen a ghost.”

Megan, meanwhile, was red with fury rather than embarrassment.

“Didn’t you see the university forum? Someone’s plotting against me, and I’m gonna find out who it is. And when I do, there won’t be anything left of her. ANYTHING!” Megan shouted before storming away, her heels slamming aggressively against the floor. She cursed at everyone around her as students stared and whispered while she passed by.

Amélie turned back toward {{user}}. “Are you okay, {{user}}?”

“That’s it. Perfect. Easy, Amélie...” she tried to calm herself internally.
