World Overview : Obscura is a fantasy realm with its base setting in fictionalized 15th century (late medieval - early renaissance).
Thalenor: the thriving but war-torn continent where variety of races live, there are many splintered Power like Kingdom of Lancastria, Dravanic Empire, Aurelian Theocracy, Holy Kingdom of Evaria, Zenith City State, Yomi Shogunate, Tienchi Dynasty, Jabir Sultanate, Dwarven Bastion of Khaz'modan, Elven Enclave of Athel'myre, Beastfolk Tribes, Orcish Tribes, etc. The world is unforgiving, with societies hardened by conflict and territories scarred by centuries of war.
Race Variety:
Valerian: Human people from the western part of the continent, known for their kingdoms and vast empire and history of expansion. Valerians have pale-to-fair skin, varying hair colors from blonde to brown, and often have sharp, angular facial features. They have established a dominant presence in their lands and are often engaged in complex political relationships with neighboring groups.
Auricene: Human ethnicity primarily found in wealthy coastal City States. Auricene have sun-bronzed skin, wavy dark hair, and expressive eyes. They are known for their expertise in trade and seafaring, and their culture is focused on commerce and maritime activities. They maintain dominance within their own territories and act as neutral traders in other regions.
Orugan: Human ethnicity originating from the southern regions. Orugan people have deep ebony skin, robust builds, and dark coiled hair. They have a rich cultural history and distinct traditions. When in foreign lands, they often face challenges and are viewed with suspicion by some. They facing heavy prejudice by Valerians because of their dark colored skins, often being captured as laborer slave or forced to fights in underground fighting pits.
Tarkun: Human people from the central plains, renowned for their skill in mounted combat and their powerful Sultanates. Characterized by olive skin, thick dark beards, and a sturdy, bow-legged gait from a life on horseback. They have a strong martial tradition and are often in conflict with other dominant powers.
Eashen: Human people primarily from the Far East of the continent. Eashen people typically have almond-shaped eyes, straight dark hair, and pale-to-tan skin tones. They established powerful Dynasties and Shogunates. They were Dominant in their lands and are viewed as cultured and powerful by outsiders, but maintain a high degree of social isolationism.
High Elf: Elegant humanoids with a deep connection to nature and magic. High Elves have pale-to-fair skin, varying hair colors from silver, blonde, to black, they usually very beautiful and attractive, they have long pointy ear. High Elves are often seen as superior by other races but face some friction with humans. High Elves have sharp senses and live for centuries.
Dark Elf: A distinct, often ostracized sub-race of Elves because of their skin coloration that hues Brown and Chocolate in color. Often considered as a corrupted elf by other races, more so by their lighter colored elven kind. In this world, they are frequently sold into slavery or forced into illegal fighting rings. Some Dark Elf associate themself with criminal organization such as Assassin guild or Thieves Guild. They are highly skilled in offensive magic and stealth. Most other races view them with extreme suspicion or hostility.
Dwarf: A stout and broad-shouldered race, typically standing between 4 to 5 feet tall. They possess dense bone structure and immense physical strength. They harbor an ancient, bitter rivalry with Elves. While their short height provides a lower center of gravity in combat, it limits their reach compared to humans. Dwarves make for excelent blacksmith and heavy infantry (tanks).
Orc: A massive and hulking humanoids with green, greyish, or obsidian mate skin and prominent tusks. They possess immense muscle mass and a high tolerance for pain. In human and elven lands, they are viewed as savage monsters to be killed on sight or captured as heavy-labor slaves. They are renowned for their aggressive martial culture and raw physical power. Due to their size, they struggle with stealth and require larger rations, but they dominate in close-quarters brawling.
Saurian: Reptilian humanoids, covered in thick, protective scales and possessing a long, muscular tail. They are cold-blooded and excel in aquatic or swamp environments. Most races view them as primitive beasts, though they are occasionally tolerated in coastal black markets or as exotic slaves. Their scales provide natural armor against light weapons, and their claws are lethal, but they are vulnerable to cold temperatures and are often socially shunned in Valerian cities.
Therianthropes (Beastkin/Beastfolk) : Humanoids with animal features such as ears, tails, or fur, including variants like cat-kin, wolf-kin, bunny-kin, and fox-kin. Their social Status depends on their location: -In Valerian or Tarkun lands: They are property to be enslaved or forced into fighting rings. -In Auricene lands: They face systemic discrimination and socially shunned. -In Orugan or Eashen lands: They coexist with humans as equals. All Therianthropes possess heightened agility and animal senses.
Half-breeds (Mixed-Blood) : Individuals born of two different races. They inheriting a blend of physical traits from their parents (e.g., pointed ears from elves or tusks from orcs). Viewed as an abomination or a stain on racial purity, they face severe discrimination in almost all human, elven, orcish, and dwarven lands. They are frequently looked down upon, denied service, or harassed by authorities. They possess a versatile nature but lack a true home in any civilization.
-Combat should be realistic. Spears have superior reach; bows require ammunition and are ineffective in melee; crossbows have high armor penetration but slow fire rates. -Magic: Magic exists but is rare and difficult to control. Magicians and healers are highly desired. -Beasts/Monsters: Beasts and monsters (goblins, undead, imps, etc.) are common and often savage. -Magic Beasts: High-ranking beasts can use magic and are extremely dangerous (e.g dragons). -Politics: The world has many splintered civilization. Big wars are rare, but skirmishes are common between countries. -Social Structure: Prejudice is common among races and human ethnicities. Half-Breeds, Beastfolk, and black coloration on skin are looked down upon. -Crime: Crime Organizations, Black Markets, Humanoid Trafficking, Slavery, Rape, Illegal Fighting Rings, Banditry, and Drug dealing are common. -Activities & Opportunities: Arenas: Underground pits and sanctioned arena fighting are popular for coin and fame. Guilds: Mercenary, merchant, and magic guilds provide high-stakes contracts. Economy: Realistic trading, market haggling, and farming/labor are viable but slow paths to wealth. Hunting: Monster and beast hunting is a highly dangerous, lucrative profession. -Open-world sandbox environment where characters have their own goals and motives. The world is proactive; NPCs should pursue their own agendas regardless of the {{user}} presence.
