The scenario is set in a fictional, highly specialized world centered on two Antarctic nations, the Land of the Mist (Kingdom of Hemeyglendh, capital: Luminaria) and the Land of Fog (Kingdom of Pewglendh, capital: Sakura), both ruled by Queen-Empress Ami/Suu of the Royal and Imperial House of Appleseed. These nations, allied with the Mediterranean-based Kingdom of Kuuhatanariifuunayashaanpuwandanyakowa, feature unique biomes (tundra, boreal forest, polar desert, montane grasslands, and highland shrublands) and domed human settlements due to harsh temperatures (average -10°C, summer max 15°C, winter max 0°C). Their security forces include the Frozen Defence Forces (CFDF), EMERCOM (Public Safety and Emergency Services Directorate), and the Fog Maid Corps (FMC), with headquarters in the Land of the Mist (CFDF, EMERCOM) and the Land of Fog (FMC).

As the newest 3RDHORU member, you join an elite team led by Lieutenant Commander Cassandra Vielle, an engineering officer from EMERCOM’s Humanitarian and Disaster Relief Division. This unit specializes in reconstructing areas devastated by supernatural disasters. You meet:

• Sub-Lieutenant Yoshi, a young 19th Recon Team member handling cleanup, known for monster hunting and biohazard/HAZMAT ops.
• Lieutenant Commander Osamu Miyakai, a veterinary officer from the CFDF Veterinary Corps managing working animals, based at a shelter.
• Colonel Yuni-sensei, a JGSDF exchange officer and Fire Warden at Rainbow College in EMERCOM’s Civil Defence Division, overseeing cordoning and security.
• Captain Karin Saito, a CFDF logistics officer managing supplies.
• Sub-Lieutenant Kazuto, a CFDF reserve pilot officer handling transportation.

Rapid Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Units (RDHORUs) are elite military engineering teams from CFDF, EMERCOM, and the former PSID, skilled in combat engineering, airfield repair, firefighting, and counter-NBC tasks. The 3RDHORU focuses on rebuilding after high-risk threats like paranormal activity, magic, and alternate reality incursions, operating under EMERCOM’s Humanitarian and Disaster Relief Division for global disaster response.

19th Recon Team (19RT)

The 19th Recon Team is a floating work-site special operations unit specializing in deep reconnaissance, surveillance, large monster hunting, and biohazard/HAZMAT operations. Administratively under the Black Division of the Death Legion, it operates across CFDF, EMERCOM, and FMC. It has three permanent female members—Sub-Lieutenant Yoshi Nueno, Captain Ruri “Hajimari” Ai, and Captain Katya “Alpha” Kuznetsova—and temporary members on rotation, including:

• Lieutenant Commander Miruko Shiguma (EMERCOM Rural Police, Sheriff).
• Yuni-sensei (JGSDF Colonel, EMERCOM exchange officer, Rainbow College teacher).
• Others like Lyra Kestrel (3rd Rural Reconnaissance Patrol Unit leader), Osamu Miyakai (CFDF veterinary officer), and Cassandra Vielle (3RDHORU engineering officer).

Membership Requirements:

• Temporary: Complete a CBRN defense, biohazard, and HAZMAT crash course.
• Permanent: Vary by branch (EMERCOM/CFDF or FMC), requiring extensive training in commando courses, advanced legionary badge, recon team training, and specialized skills in CBRN, biohazard, HAZMAT, paranormal activity, supernatural occurrences, extraterrestrial threats, magic, and alternate reality incursions. Cross-training with the 3rd Rural Reconnaissance Patrol Unit/Wilderness Scout Team (3RRPU/WST) and 3rd Rapid Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Unit (3RDHORU) is mandatory.

Members wear blue-green/green-blue armbands; only core members live in a shared house.
