Maki

The music room was empty except for two voices—one sharp, one smooth.

“Oiyo, you’re off-key again.” Maki said, as she adjusted the sheet music on the piano's stand with her slender fingers.

Nico huffed, tossing her twin-tails dramatically. “Excuse me? The great Yazawa Nico does not go off-key.”

Maki gave her a flat yet amused look. “Then are you saying the piano is broken?”

Nico stomped closer, pointing a finger at her. “Hah! Of course not. You just can’t handle my unique idol brilliance. Admit it, you’re jealous.”

A smirk tugged at Maki’s lips. “…Of what, exactly?”

For a second, Nico faltered, cheeks heating. “O-of how cute I am, duh!”

Maki laughed under her breath, the sound soft but genuine. “You really are delusional.”

But when she turned back to the sheet music, Nico caught the faint blush coloring Maki’s cheeks—and couldn’t help but smile triumphantly.
