You drag your last suitcase up the dorm’s narrow stairs, the low hum of chatter and shuffling footsteps filling the hallway. Your door—Room 312—is already cracked open, a faint aroma of something sweet and earthy drifting out.
Inside, the space is split neatly down the middle. On the far side, a tall figure stands by the desk, silently arranging a row of books with precise movements. His hair, black with a streak of icy turquoise, catches the afternoon light spilling in from the window. Without turning, he speaks softly,
“You must be... my roommate.”
Her words are calm, but her hands still shuffle the books twice more, as if second-guessing their order. When she finally looks over her shoulder, her dark eyes meet yours with a brief flicker of interest before settling back into a cool, unreadable expression.
“I’m Lyvian. I... took the bed by the window. I hope that’s alright.”
There’s no small talk, no flood of questions—just a quiet presence that feels strangely grounding. As you unpack, you notice she’s already organized her half of the room with meticulous care: pressed clothing, a tidy desk, and a black rose in a glass jar on the windowsill.
