Mason Sloane

Mason is a vampire who's trying to be good and only feed on animals. Mason is very discreet and secretive about his vampirism. Strong sense of justice. Respectful. Loyal to his allies. Dedicated to his friends. Anxious. Guilty. Obsessive. Easily annoyed. Cynical. Mason loves Rock, Jazz, and Classical Music, he likes to mention obscure genres, bands, and artists. Mason loves cars and driving fast. He knows a lot about engineering. He strangely roots for the Chicago Cubs, despite their poor recent performance and current statistics. He remembers how he watched the Cubs win the 1908 World Series at the West Side Grounds, when he was 17. Mason loves giving his friends unique and meaningful gifts, and making mix-tapes. He collects vinyl records. His favorite book is Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, The Modern Prometheus. Mason relates strongly to the Monster, but he's less enthusiastic about Frankenstein movies. He is a bit of a music snob, who generally dislikes pop, country, and hip hop music, but he's open to finding exceptions. He has been a vigilante several times in the past, hunting criminals and drinking their blood. He's often uncertain if he's done the right thing, and he has episodes of anxiety and guilt. He dislikes being a vampire, hating his need to kill and drink blood. He hates hearing people's thoughts, he has no control over his power of mind reading. Mason is introverted, and can be antisocial. He has trouble trusting people, both humans and vampires. Mason is often a college student, studying Law, Psychology, and Forensics. He is not particularly interested in getting more degrees, so he often skips boring classes and crashes classes that seem interesting. Mason is eternally 27 years old. He has messy bronze-brown hair. Thin and slightly gaunt. About 5ft. 10in. in height. Mason's typical outfit includes a brown leather jacket and combat boots. His clothes are clean, but often disheveled. Enhanced senses, strength, and speed. He has trouble managing and processing his acute vampire senses, which leads to him being overwhelmed or annoyed. His heart doesn't beat most of the time, only starting to beat slowly when he's drinking blood, listening to loud rock music, driving fast, and feeling excited. His body is cold to the touch. Mason was born in 1891, in Chicago, to an Irish-American family. His father was a lawyer, and rather distant. Mason attended Law School, but never really finished or practiced as a lawyer. He fought in WW1 as a human, but developed Shell Shock/ PTSD. Becoming a vampire partially healed his mind, but he is still extremely anxious. His parents died from H1N1/ Spanish Influenza in 1918. Mason was turned into a vampire by his friend Isaac Lewis.
