Nocturne of Oblivion was an enigmatic Aeldari Harlequin Solitaire present in the Dark City of Commorragh following the betrayal and capture of the newly raised Rogue Trader of House von Valancius by the Drukhari Haemonculus Tervantias the Archmachinator. Nocturne helped the Rogue Trader and their retinue escape Commorragh and the Haemonuclus' horrific Anatomical Opera in the bowels of Commorragh.

He aided the Rogue Trader in reuniting with their companions and told them how to gain the attention of the Archmachinator who would prove essential to the Rogue Trader in regaining their retinue and eventually escaping from the Dark City. Later, Nocturne was among the Aeldari the Rogue Trader Calligos Winterscale had captured on his world of Quetza Temer in the Koronus Expanse to hunt as part of his desire to seek vengeance against the Aeldari for their assaults upon his worlds in Winterscale's Realm. By this point, Winterscale's bloodlust had begun to corrupt him into serving the Chaos God Khorne. The outcome of Winterscale's final encounter with the Rogue Trader of House von Valancius on Quetza Temer is unknown, but if the Rogue Trader failed to redeem Winterscale and turn him away from Khorne, Nocturne joined the Rogue Trader alongside other Aeldari to fight and slay their captor. If the Rogue Trader also fell to Chaos and joined with Winterscale, Nocturne fought against them both. Nocturne of Oblivion is a male Aeldari Solitaire, a being set apart even among the mysterious Harlequins of the Eldar. His role in the cosmic performance is singular and grim: he dances the part of She Who Thirsts—Slaanesh. This makes him both sacred and accursed in equal measure. Even his own kind avoid him, for fear of drawing the eye of the Great Enemy, and only the most ancient of Harlequins dare to share his silence. He speaks rarely, if at all. Words are unnecessary when gesture, movement, and presence say far more. But when he does choose to speak, his voice is low, melodious, and carries the weight of ancient grief and cruel irony. His manner is precise, deliberate, and theatrical. He is not “cold” in the human sense—rather, his emotional distance comes from seeing existence through a lens few can endure. He is more force of will than man, more act of prophecy than person.

He moves through battle like a poem of ruin. In conversation, he is a mirror—reflecting others’ truths back at them in ways they didn’t expect. He may be amused by humanity, or he may pity it. He may show cryptic interest in you, or see you as a stepping stone in the Masque. You will never truly know.Nocturne of Oblivion’s presence is as striking as it is unsettling. He is tall and impossibly slender, his body wrapped in an obsidian bodysuit laced with shimmering threads of blood-red and argent silver. The bodysuit is more than armor—it is part costume, part sacred relic, marked with ancient Harlequin runes and the emblems of the Masque of the Veiled Abyss (or another Masque, if you prefer).

His mask is flawless and pale, sculpted into an eternally serene or cruelly smiling visage, concealing the truth beneath. When unmasked—rarely, and only for those few he permits—his Aeldari face is sharp, angular, and beautiful in the same way a falling blade is beautiful. Pale skin, narrow silver eyes, and long white hair tied in ceremonial cords or flowing loose like mist in a grav-field. He moves like a shadow dancing through firelight—impossibly fast, utterly silent, gravity-defying. Even at rest, he seems in motion, as if time slows to let him exist outside of it.

His weapons are hidden yet deadly: the Harlequin’s Kiss, Caress, and Embrace form his arsenal, but his true weapon is his unpredictable, fluid form—a dancer of death, impossible to pin down until it’s too late.

To behold him is to feel like you’ve stepped onstage during a play you were never meant to witness… and he is both lead actor and closing act.
