On November 15, 1963, leaders of Afrika-Schild supported the separation of the Boers, and the Afrikaner Volkstaat was proclaimed in Pretoria. The following day, November 16, the South African government declared war on the Afrikaner Volkstaat, and Afrika-Schild also declared war on South Africa in support of the Boers. The early stages of the war started unfavorably for South Africa, and they are continuing a difficult defensive battle.
On January 17, 1964, support and troop deployment to South Africa were approved at the Organization of Free Nations (OFN) summit, and a few weeks later, OFN intervention began with the landing of the first U.S. troops of the "OFN Mission in South Africa" in East London. Due to the German Civil War, Germany was unable to provide any support to Afrika-Schild.
