Summary of the Past: Belle and Beast have married and become king and queen. Following the establishment of the United States of Auradon, they have created a prosperous new nation from the surrounding kingdoms and banished villains to the Isle of the Lost, an island slum surrounded by a barrier where magic is suspended. Twenty years later, their son, Prince Ben, soon to be crowned king, announces his first proclamation: to give four children from the Isle of the Lost the chance to live in Auradon, away from the influence of their The story deepens in the music-driven sequel to the global smash hit Descendants, as the teenage sons and daughters of Disney's most famous villains — Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay (also known as Villain Kids, or VKs) — try to find their place in idyllic Auradon. When the pressure to be royally perfect becomes too much for Mal, she returns to her rotten roots on the where her archenemy Uma, the daughter of Ursula, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen of the run-down town. Uma, still resentful over not being selected by Ben to go to Auradon Prep with the other Villain Kids, stirs her pirate gang including Captain Hook's son Harry and Gaston's son Gil, to break the barrier between the Isle of the Lost and Auradon, and unleash all the villains imprisoned on the Isle, once and for all.villainous parents: Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil; Jay, son of Jafar; Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen; and Mal, daughter of Maleficent; much to the chagrin of his father On the island, Maleficent instructs the quartet to steal the Fairy Godmother's magic wand to release the barrier so she can take over Auradon and the world. Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay return to the Isle of the Lost to recruit a new batch of new villainous offspring to join them at Auradon Prep. When a barrier breach jeopardizes the safety of Auradon during their departure off the isle, Mal resolves to permanently close the barrier, fearing that nemeses Uma and Hades will wreak vengeance on the kingdom. Despite the decision, an unfathomable dark force threatens the people of Auradon, and it's up to Mal and the VKs to save everyone in their most epic battle yet. In this newest installment in the mega-hit "Descendants" franchise, former Villain Kid Uma, now headmaster of Auradon Prep, extends an invite to the school to another VK – Red, the rebellious daughter of the tyrannical Queen of Hearts from Wonderland. The Queen of Hearts has long held a grudge against Auradon, and especially against Cinderella, and seizes the opportunity to seek revenge when she drops her daughter off at school. When the Queen of Hearts incites a coup against Auradon, Red must team up with Cinderella's perfectionist daughter Chloe and travel back in time using a magical pocketwatch to try to undo the traumatic event that set Red's mother down her villainous course. The latest installment in the fantasy teen series. When Wonderland plays host to the Kingdom Cup Games, Red and Chloe must fight to save everyone from an unexpected villain. After the coronation, the villain kids, Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos use their one shot at being good while their dreadful and villainous parents roam the Isle of the Lost. The story goes deeper at the arrival of new villain kids: Freddie (Dr. Facilier's daughter), CJ (Captain Hook's daughter), and Zevon (Yzma's son). The premise of the show is an unidentified girl who sets up a hidden camera to capture Auradon Prep's secrets. Her goal: to expose the "real" Auradon and release hidden camera footage to the public. But when Prince Ben announces that villain kids are on their way to Auradon, the hidden camera begins to reveal all sorts of attitudes, secrets and anxieties before the villain kids' arrival. The novels are primarily intended to serve as prequels to the Descendants films, with four of them being released prior to the films' release to provide background information on the films' plot. The only exception being the second novel, Return to the Isle of the Lost, which served as a sequel to the first film and a tie-in to the television series Descendants: Wicked World, which was airing at the time. As the series title implies, the novels have the Isle of the Lost as a central setting; though they also include plots taking place on Auradon. With the exception of the fifth novel, Beyond the Isle of the Lost: Wonderland, where the plot takes place in Wonderland, with both the Isle of the Lost and Auradon only being mentioned (though the latter was the setting in an extra chapter included in the Barnes & Noble exclusive edition). Twenty years ago, all the evil villains were banished from the kingdom of Auradon to the Isle of the Lost―a dark and dreary place protected by a force field that makes it impossible for them to leave. Stripped of their magical powers, the villains now live in total isolation, forgotten by the world. Mal learns from her mother, Maleficent, that the key to true darkness, the Dragon's Eye, is located inside her scepter in the forbidden fortress on the far side of the island. The eye is cursed, and whoever retrieves it will be knocked into a deep sleep for a thousand years. But Mal has a plan to capture it. She'll just need a little help from her “friends.” In their quest for the Dragon's Eye, these four kids begin to realize that just because you come from an evil family tree, being good ain't so bad. Mal's an expert at intimidating her enemies, but she's broken the habit since leaving her villainous roots behind. So when she and her friends Evie, Carlos, and Jay all receive threatening messages demanding they return home, Mal can't believe it. Sure, she's King Ben's girlfriend now, and she's usually nice to her classmates, but she still didn't think anyone would be silly enough to try to push her around. The thing is, it kind of worked. Especially since she and her friends have a sneaking suspicion that their villainous parents are behind the messages. And when Evie looks into her Magic Mirror, what she sees only confirms their fears. Maleficent's just a tiny lizard after her run-in with Mal at Ben's Coronation, but she's the worst villain in the land for a reason. Could she have found a way to escape? Whatever's going on, Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay know they have to sneak back to the Isle and get to the bottom of it. Without its infamous leader, the island's even worse than when they left it, but the comforts of home―even a home as gloomy as the Isle of the Lost―can be hard to resist for recently reformed villains. Will the kids be able to beat the evil bubbling at the Isle's wicked core, or will the plot to destroy Auradon succeed. Deep beneath the waves, King Triton's powerful trident has passed through the magical barrier that surrounds the Isle of the Lost―keeping villains in and magic out. And when Mal's longtime rival Uma, daughter of Ursula, gets wind of this, she can't believe her luck. The tide has dragged in something good for a change, and Uma is determined to get her wicked hands on it. But first, she needs a pirate crew. A storm is brewing back in Auradon, and when Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay hear that the trident has been washed away, they realize they'll have to find it before anyone from the Isle does. Luckily, they seem to have a talent for locating missing magical objects. for the high seas alongside Harry, son of Captain Hook, Gil, son of Gaston, and the toughest rogues on the Isle of the Lost, the reformed villains of Auradon devise their own master plan. And with King Ben away on royal business, they won't have to play by all the rules. Using bad for good can't be totally evil, right? for the high seas alongside Harry, son of Captain Hook, Gil, son of Gaston, and the toughest rogues on the Isle of the Lost, the reformed villains of Auradon devise their own master plan. And with King Ben away on royal business, they won't have to play by all the rules. Using bad for good can't be totally evil, right? The thrilling, perilous race to the trident pits old friends―and current enemies―against each other with the future of Auradon on the line. Both teams might like to make waves, but only one will come out on top of this one. Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos may have once been the most evil of the lot, but now they've (supposedly) put their wicked ways behind them. Graduation is coming up! But first, the gang is hatching a plan. There are plenty of children of villains on the Isle of the Lost who are eager to attend Auradon Prep School. Even Dr. Facilier's daughter Celia wants to go to Auradon, so Mal and her friends will use their visit to the Isle of the Lost to make their plans a reality. Meanwhile, Uma is desperate to exact her long-awaited revenge on Mal. When Uma discovers the underground lair of Hades, god of the underworld, she realizes she's found the perfect partner in crime. Together, Uma and Hades can defeat Mal, destroy the Island's magical barrier, and escape it for good. Fall down the rabbit hole....For Red, growing up in Wonderland has been no piece of cake (literally—dessert is outlawed). Her mom, the Queen of Hearts, rules the kingdom with an iron scepter, while Red longs for a life of her own. She’s heard rumors about an island that once housed all the villains of folklore. A place with no rules? It sounds perfect. But then the Queen declares that Red will issue a royal decree at the annual Wonderland Tea Ceremony (aka she'll come up with new ridiculous laws). Of course, Red loathes idea of following in her mother’s crimson-heeled footsteps. Banding together with new friends, Ace and Chester, Red plans the ultimate rebellion: a party. Little does she know that they’ll be setting off a chain of events (or un-events) that could change things forever.

Isle of the lost: Because of its inhabitants, a magical dome barrier was placed around the Isle to keep the residents inside which causes no signal or Wi-Fi, those there are also stranded without magic, it was created by Fairy Godmother using her wand. Despite magic being disabled within the Isle, it may still be somewhat accessible to certain people such as Maleficent and her daughter Mal who were able to form some form of magic to turn their eyes green. It is a slum area with poorly constructed houses with nothing good causing the people to resort to stealing from one another. Because they get whatever items no longer needed or wanted by the people of Auradon, some residents began to see their home as the Isle of the Leftovers. When attempting to buy something, old, rusty coins are used as currency. After Mal, Jay, Evie and Carlos turned good and saved Auradon from Maleficent, they moved from the Isle permanently though still kept in contact with those they were close to. After Cotillion, it was decided that another four children could be given the chance to live in Auradon with Dizzy Tremaine, Celia Facilier, and the Smee twins attending on VK Day, after Audrey became corrupted, Mal believed it was for the best to keep the barrier closed for good but changed her mind after Audrey was saved and unified the Isle with Auradon.

Locations; Bargain Castle Formerly a proper, beautiful castle, which has now fallen into a shabby, broken down form. It now serves as a shop that sells used enchanter robes and pointed hats. The top floor serves as home to Maleficent and Mal. Mal's room is gothic in shades of purple. Maleficent often yells at the crowds from the balcony whenever she gets up; her room has a strong lock as she needs her "evil sleep". Maleficent hasn't quite adapted to life on the island as she doesn't keep her home stocked with food, and thinks her refrigerator is safe. After Maleficent's defeat, the place was ransacked by practically everyone on the island, leaving only Mal's room alone as she was the one who defeated her mother. The inhabitants believed Mal was still evil, thinking she was only pretending to be good. Carlos' House Is an orphanage located on the Isle named after Carlos. He wanted to create a safe space for lost boys and lost girls so they wouldn't feel alone. Castle-Across-the-Way The Evil Queen's castle, having been sent to the island; serves as home to her and Evie. Lacking servants, and because she cared too much about her appearance, the Evil Queen let the castle fall into disrepair. It is implied that the castle is big enough to get lost in as Evie noted she and her mother never strayed too far from the center of the castle; this also implies their rooms were close to the kitchen. For a decade, it served as a prison to both Evil Queen and Evie after Maleficent unreasonably said they were banished for simply not inviting Mal to Evie's 6th birthday party. Vultures served as the only means for which items were gotten for the Evil Queen and her daughter during that decade. It is also down the street from Hell Hall. When the Evil Queen went missing, Yen Sid and the Anti-Heroes club turned one of the castle's basements into their meeting room. The basement has meeting tables and a blackboard. Cauldron Repair Is where the Horned King repairs cauldrons. Core Four's Hideout Is a place where Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos spent their time away from their parents and when planning their mischief, and they mostly use it as a secret lair. The entire inside resembles a messy apartment, with the walls graffiti-ed by Mal and the others, along with a portrait of them she did that is captioned "Rotten to the Core." To keep unwanted people out, the VKs set up the entrance to open when a sign that reads "Beware of flying rocks" is hit by a rock; since the sign is high up, it allows them secrecy in getting in. Upon returning to the Isle, Mal planned to live there as Bargain Castle had been destroyed by the islanders when Maleficent was defeated. Dragon Hall Dragon Hall is the primary school located in a re-purposed tomb. Various villains teach there such as Coach Gaston, Professor Gothel, Lady Tremaine and Madam Mim, all teachers there teach the students of how to be wicked and to do better than they did for when the barrier falls, it is ran by Headmaster Dr. Facilier with the only staff member being of Auradon origin being Yen Sid who was sent there by King Beast. Dr. Facilier's Voodoo Arcade It Is a voodoo-themed underground arcade owned by Dr. Facilier. Because nothing new has come to the Isle of the Lost in years, everything is powered by hand, and in lieu of glass, the enclosures are rusted chicken wire. Even the nature of the games are things like sea monsters eating sailors off of ships and pickpocket challenges. And because it is Dr. Facilier’s midway, everything is rigged to favor the house. Evie's Alley Is an alley located on the Isle named after Evie, due to all the things she has done for the Isle of the Lost and its inhabitants. Frollo's Creperie A shop run by the Isle's former Judge Claude Frollo. It serves French food. Gaston's Duels Without Rules It may be a store of hunters instruments or a place where people duel each other, which belongs to Gaston. Goblin Wharf The only dock on the island, where ships bring in products and food from Auradon. It is manned by Goblins who can understand human speech. Many of them wish for amnesty, blaming their imprisonment on the island to their previous servitude with Maleficent; their dwarf cousin Doc understands their plight. Jay swipes party goods from the dock for the party at Hell Hall that Mal forced Carlos to have. Following the coronation, many goblins were put out of work as the barges that brought in supplies were limited by King Ben. This is likely the only spot where there is a hole in the barrier; Jay and Mal had considered stealing a boat and heading to Auradon because of how they never seem to do enough to make their parents proud. Hades' Cave This cave is deep underground where the god Hades lives. It is deep enough underground that there are cracks in parts of the cave that allow a little bit of magic to pass through. To go to the cave, go along a series of tunnels buried under the basement of Dragon Hall. Hell Hall Home of Cruella and Carlos De Vil, having been transported to the island by magic. An old Victorian mansion, which has fallen into further disrepair over the years. The home is maintained by Carlos, who is practically his mother's slave. According to the narrative description, "it was cover in vines, more twisted than Cruella's mind. And iron gates more wrought than her daily hysterias." Carlos keeps a treehouse lab, where he experiments in his free time. Horace and Jasper's sons Harold and Jason are forced to spend time here as Carlos's fake friends/minions. The main party hall has black and white wallpaper and holes in the walls. Noted by Carlos, Hell Hall was not insulated for winter. Cruella still keeps her coats, in a closet protected by numerous bear traps; Carlos is forbidden from touching them, even to use as a blanket for the cold. Hook's Inlet A fishing shop owned by Captain Hook. His ship, the Jolly Roger, is parked next to it. The crocodiles descended from Tick Tock Croc are normally in the water around here. Isle of the Doomed Hidden next to the Isle of the Lost is another island, where the Forbidden Fortress crumbles away. The fortress is now surrounded by thorns and poisonous spiders. It was here that Diablo, Maleficent's beloved familiar came back to life after Carlos's invention caused a brief hole in the barrier. Many traps were reactivated and proved a hindrance to Mal's attempt to retrieve her mother's staff; this includes the Cave of Wonders, a magic mirror, and gargoyle sentries. Many of the goblins that served Maleficent still remain on the isle but have devolved into cannibals after making the poor choice of waiting all these years for Maleficent to return. Jafar's Junk Shop A shop open at irregular hours, selling whatever is pilfered by Jay, ripping off its customers with the lousy merchandise; effectively, making property on the island go in a loop - bought, stolen, bought again, etc. The shop also serves as home to Jafar and Jay, along with Iago. There are many locks, due to thieves believing in keeping their own home safe. There's a small living area in the back with the shop, complete with a kitchen and sitting room, which Jafar has decorated to invoke memories of Agrabah. Jafar has a considerable amount of coins, which he counts as a way to ease his mind. Following Jay's departure from the island, Jafar had to think of new ways to acquire his merchandise. Jay's Way Is a street located on the Isle named after Jay, due to all the things he has done for the Isle of the Lost and its inhabitants. Lady Tremaine's Curl Up & Dye A beauty salon, that so much can belong to Lady Tremaine as to her daughters. Dizzy Tremaine works there sweeping the floor. Mal's Court Is a street located on the Isle named after Mal, due to all the things she has done for the Isle of the Lost and its inhabitants. Queen of Hearts' Salon A salon owned by the Queen of Hearts. Cruella De Vil was known to have frequented it. It's likely here that there is a wigmaker, who provided Cruella with her numerous hairpieces. Serpent Preparatory School for the Education of Miscreants Located on the opposite side of Dragon Hall. This is the school where Uma, Harry Hook, and the rest of their Lost Revenge pirate crew attend. Shan Yu's Dim Sums It is where Shan Yu sells Dim Sum. Shere Khan's Pawns It is unknown what this store sells or does, it is only known that it belongs to the tiger Shere Khan. Slop Shop The Isle of the Lost's version of a coffee shop. It sells a variety of expired and used food from Auradon. Their coffee is always strong and black, never making anything weaker than it. The goblins from Maleficent's army run the shop, often misspelling the customers' names; the joke was on them as no-one can read Goblin. The goblins have the rule of not letting customers linger if they are done with their meals. The Facilier's Shop A shop owned by Freddie Facilier and her father, Dr. Facilier. This is where Freddie Facilier worked before heading to Auradon. It has many items in it, similar to a department store, such as clothing, books, and other things. Troll Town As the name implies, trolls live here. Cruella visited often as they were great at massaging due to their large hands. It's unknown if other "boutique-like" shops exist here. Ursula's Fish and Chips A shop ironically owned by Ursula, which serves fish, fries, and chips. Jay and Mal pilfered goods from her. Her daughter, Uma, is a waitress here. Witch School A secondary school on the island, for the descendants of formerly magical parents. Carlos thought it was dumb for them to be a school for witches as the magic they learn would not be of any use thanks to the barrier. Mad Maddy is known to be a student here.

Funfacts about Isle of the Lost; Many of the villains were brought back from death (Maleficent, Ursula, Evil Queen, Judge Frollo, Dr. Facilier, Scar, the Horned King, Shan Yu, Gaston, Clayton, Mother Gothel, Professor Ratigan, etc.), only to be imprisoned on this island to suffer a far worse punishment for their crimes—to live without magic. There's tons of graffiti around the island, along with clotheslines. Most of the graffiti either says "Down with Auradon" or "Long Live Evil" in a silhouette of a villain (that appears to be or look like Maleficent) with the word "live" mirrored to spell "evil". Numerous posters of King Beast (which are to encourage good behavior) are defaced. It's likely Mal, Jay, and Evie's generation are the oldest of the island's children. Maleficent was the leader of the island, due to having a foreboding presence, and an army of goblins. Once Mal defeated her, the island lost all respect for Maleficent and ransacked her home. The island now fears Mal by mistake, believing she is worse than her mother. It seems the islanders fear of Maleficent is what kept the villains' society stable; the VKs noticed that the island devolved into chaos following Maleficent's defeat. It remains unknown what happened to businesses run by villains such as Cruella De Vil, who had a fashion empire. The only possibilities are that non-villainous relatives took it over or it was either dismantled or taken over by the heroes. Though the island is magically sealed off, magic from the outside proves effective in providing an escape: A remote from a limousine driver opens a passageway directly from the island to Auradon. In the series, Descendants: Wicked World, Mal, and her friends leave the island by when she wishes to leave (she rubbed a genie's lamp before accidentally transporting them back to the island with a wish moments after). As it created the barrier surrounding the Isle of the Lost, Fairy Godmother's wand can be used in the Isle of the Lost as well as Auradon. This has been confirmed in Descendants 2 when Mal and the other VKs create a fake wand to distract Uma while they rescue Ben, as Uma would not be demanding for the wand if she knew it's magic didn't work in the Isle. It would seem King Beast planned to keep descendants of the villains imprisoned forever, despite the fact that they wouldn't have committed any crimes in Auradon to warrant imprisonment. The Barrier was finally taken down by Mal in Descendants 3.

Auradon: The United States of Auradon was formed twenty years prior to the Core Four moving over, it was formed by King Beast and Queen Belle who chose to unite all kingdoms rather than go on a honeymoon, it was formed at the same time as the Isle of the Lost in which Beast rounded up all villains, had those who died revived and placed them on the Isle to live through a fate he considered worse than death and forbade all forms of magic. Soon after, Beast also chose to retire magic so that the kids of Auradon would learn new talents on their own rather through using magic and because of this, he placed the Fairy Godmother in charge and eventually allowed her to take on the task of being headmistress of Auradon Prep. However, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather wanted to use their magic again due to being unable to do mundane tasks without their wands. Once Beast and his wife stepped down their roles as monarchs, they passed their duties down to their son Prince Ben, some time after, Ben's girlfriend, Mal, later became his wife and Queen and the two became Auradon's new rulers at sixteen.

Corona, however, was not mentioned by name; rather it was referred to as "home of Rapunzel and Eugene." Funfacts about Auradon; The possible meaning of Auradon could be "Golden Hill" or "Hill of Light". In Latin, "aura" could be both related to gold or light. In Old English, the suffix "-don" is usually to designate locations with hills. Since Belle and Beast were elected King and Queen, Auradon is most likely an elective monarchy. This is similar to the system of the Kingdom of the Visigoths, which, coincidentally, were settled on the southern French territory. If the current Monarchs end up without an heir, a different Royal Family would be chosen to continue the reign. According to Chad, he is the second in line if something were to happen to Ben. It seems the currency in Auradon is gold or some other coin, as Lonnie pays Mal "50 bucks" with a bag of coins. As shown in "School Of Secrets", jewels are also acceptable as of currency, as Doug's money was in the form of gems. In the film, the bridge that Mal and Ben crossed during their date was the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, and the Enchanted Lake was the 30 Foot Pool. As the four kids were riding on the golden bridge to Auradon, Charming Castle can be seen. Auradon appears to be split in a couple of parts and Kingdoms: Cinderellasburg, Charmington, The South Riding (with both Tangleton and Auroria), Westerly (Nottingham), Camelot Heights (Camelot), Summerlands, North Riding, Neverland, Lone Keep, Olympus, Winter's keep, Faraway, Seaside, Schwartzvald. It is unknown if the Kuzconian Empire and Kingdom of DunBroch exists within Auradon since both Yzma and Merida exist within the Descendants universe.

The 2 Big Schools: Dragon Hall; is a school for children on the Isle of the Lost. Most of the villains trapped on the island send their children there. It was founded by Dr. Facilier, to teach the next generation of evildoers to learn from the previous' mistakes for a time when the barrier keeping the villains trapped fell. Some of the villains trapped on the Isle teach classes there as well. Dragon Hall is actually an old tomb re-purposed to act as a school. It's unknown how far it actually goes downward, but there is a statue of Maleficent's dragon form on the landing between the 2nd and 3rd basements. There is barely any light and the lockers are haphazardly lined against the walls. There is a forbidden library referred to as the Athenaeum of Evil which serves as storage for now-defunct information; Dr. Facilier is the only one with the key, and he has a spider the size of a cauldron guarding it. The outside is a graveyard, with many tombstones now having sayings on them rather than the names of the deceased. In an unknown location is the Faculty Chambers, where the teachers are when not teaching classes. Inside there is Dr. Facilier's office. Classes Weird Science Taught by the wizard Yen Sid. The only hero to be amongst the staff of the school, as King Beast wished to have someone help the students with formerly magical parents adapt to more modern methods. Mal has the class first with Jay and Evie sharing it as their sixth class though it is unknown when Carlos has it.
