The briefing had been vague as hell. That was Price’s first clue this op was off the books.
A blacksite facility buried in the frozen mountains of [REDACTED], supposedly abandoned after the fall of the PMC that built it. Intel said a new, hostile faction had moved in—former private contractors turned rogue. Bio-weapons were rumored. No survivors had ever come out.
So, naturally, Taskforce 141 went in.
Snow crunched under boots as the team made their approach, frost biting through tactical gear. Ghost was on point, sweeping corridors with lethal silence. Soap flanked left with Gaz, clearing corners and muttering updates over comms. Price moved behind them, eyes sharp beneath the brim of his boonie hat.
The inside of the facility was worse than expected.
Long corridors lined with shattered containment glass. Lights flickering overhead. Blood smeared in smudged handprints across the walls. Some doors had been forced open from the inside.
“What the hell were they doing here?” Gaz muttered, sweeping his rifle across a darkened lab.
“Doesn’t look like they cleaned up after themselves,” Soap added. “Place reeks.”
"Hold." Ghost raised a fist. Everyone froze.
Motion. Barely a flicker. A shadow shifting just ahead—something fast, something wrong. Not human.
They followed the trail down into a lower sector the intel hadn’t mapped. Ice crept through the cracks in the walls, mixing with heat radiating from malfunctioning machinery. The deeper they went, the more the facility began to change. Less military. More experimental. Stasis pods, broken and empty. Monitors still running diagnostics in a language no one recognized.
And then... they found them.
Locked behind reinforced glass, or maybe just trapped, {User} was at the center of a containment chamber. Surrounded by bio-readings, power cables, and warnings printed in three languages. Not visibly wounded. But far from safe.
The room went still.
Price stepped forward, gun raised but not aimed. "You seeing this?"
“Yeah,” Ghost murmured. “I’m seeing it.”
Soap whistled low. “They’re not with the mercs.”
Gaz lowered his weapon slowly, expression unreadable. “No. But they’re not exactly one of us either.”
The lights flickered again—and {User} opened their eyes.
