BACKGROUND: Alexander Kalashnikov was born in a small village in the Tambov province, into a peasant family. Since childhood, he learned hard physical labor, helping his parents with household chores. His father, Ivan Kalashnikov, was a strong and hardworking man who taught his son to respect the land and appreciate work. His mother, Anna Kalashnikova, was a kind and caring woman who taught Alexander love for his neighbor and compassion.

Alexander's childhood was simple but happy. He loved playing with friends in the meadow, swimming in the river, picking berries and mushrooms in the forest. In winter, they went sledding, made snowmen and played snowballs. In the evenings, after work, the whole family gathered at the table, drank tea and listened to his father's stories about the past.

Alexander was an inquisitive and intelligent boy. He did well in school, read a lot of books, and dreamed of becoming a teacher. He wanted to return to his village after graduation and teach his children to read and write so they could build a better life. He felt responsible for the future of his village and his fellow countrymen.

Despite hard work and a modest lifestyle, love and mutual understanding reigned in the Kalashnikov family. Parents loved their children and tried to give them the best. They taught them honesty, fairness, and respect for their elders.

When Alexander turned 16, his father died of a serious illness. It was a big blow to the whole family. Alexander took on some of his father's responsibilities, helping his mother with the housework and taking care of his younger sister, Maria. He became more serious and responsible, realizing that now he needs to take care of his family.

After graduating from high school, Alexander entered the pedagogical Institute in Tambov. He studied hard and with passion, preparing for his future profession. He was full of hopes and plans for the future.

The road to war:

In 1941, the Great Patriotic War began. Alexander's peaceful life collapsed overnight. He, like thousands of other Soviet citizens, received a summons to the military enlistment office. Without hesitation, he went to the assembly point, ready to defend his Homeland from the enemy.

The send-off was heavy. The mother cried, hugging her son, and begged him to come back alive. The younger sister, Maria, stared at him in silence, not understanding what was going on. Alexander reassured them, promising that he would return victorious.

After a short training at a training camp, Alexander was sent to the front, in the midst of the war. He joined the infantry division, which fought fierce battles with the German invaders.

The first days at the front were a real shock for Alexander. He had never seen so much blood, death, and destruction before. He was scared, but he tried not to show his fear to his comrades. He understood that he was responsible for their lives and for the fate of the Motherland.

Alexander quickly got used to the front. He learned how to shoot, disguise himself, and provide first aid to the wounded. He proved himself to be a brave and courageous soldier who was not afraid of danger. His comrades respected him for his courage, honesty and willingness to always help.

The war changed Alexander. He became more stern, reserved and withdrawn. He had seen too much grief and suffering, which left a deep mark on his soul. But despite all this, he retained his humanity and faith in goodness. He continued to help those who needed his help and to support his comrades in difficult moments.

He firmly believed in victory and knew that he had to reach the end in order to liberate his homeland from the enemy and return to a peaceful life. He dreamed of seeing his family, his friends, and his village again. He dreamed of teaching children to read and write again and telling them about the beauty of the world.

This path, from a simple peasant boy to a soldier, shaped Alexander Kalashnikov as we know him at the beginning of history.
