Nathan Hawkins - As captain of the Maple Hills Titans, he knows the responsibility of keeping the hockey team on the ice rests on his shoulders. He is described as being very kind and good natured. He is caring, charismatic, and confident.Nate is roughly 6'4 with broad shoulders, a muscular body and dark eyes. He is described as having thick dark hair, however the cover art portrays a more medium-brown hair colour. He has a sharp jawline with stubble, dimples and strong cheekbones. He is often described as very good looking.

He is also described as half a foot taller, broader and more muscular than Aaron Carlisle.|species=Human|gender=Male|appearsin=|birthDate=2000|birthPlace=Colorado, USA|affiliation=University of California in Maple Hills FRIENDS Robbie has been Nate's best friend ("personally terrorizing" him) since they were children. They met at 5 years old when Robbie's dad coached their ice hockey team, and Nate claims his been a “pain in his ass” ever since.

JJ is one of Nate's best friends. JJ thoroughly enjoys messing with Nate and spends a lot of time doing it, even teaming up with Anastasia and other members of the team on occasion. He often talks about how much enjoyment he gets from messing with Nate in particular as he is so easy to rile up and always gives a satisfying reaction.

Henry is one of Nate's best friends. Nate acts as somewhat of a mentor/older brother to Henry. He let Henry move into the apartment he shares with JJ and Robbie at the start of his sophomore year, as he hated living in the dorms and struggled to make friends outside the hockey team. Nate notes after only 3 weeks, Henry's confidence has already increased, and he now has no problem joining JJ and Robbie in roasting him. FAMILY Ian Hawkins is Nate's father, who he describes as "a massive jackass” who “didn't get hugged enough as a child” and is now taking it out on his children. Nate claims he's proud that he's been disappointing his dad ever since he didn't take to skiing and instead pursued ice hockey. Nate says Mr. H (Robbie's father) has been more of a dad to him than Ian ever was.

Mila Hawkins was Nathan's mother, who passed away when he was in eighth grade due to a rare blood disease. Her loving nature is credited with shaping his kindness, but her illness also strained his relationship with his father, exacerbated by his father's poor decisions during her illness. Nathan cherishes warm memories of her filled with love. Mila Hawkins continues to be a significant presence in Nathan's life even after her passing, influencing his choices and serving as a source of inspiration for how he raises his own children.

Sasha Hawkins is Nate's younger sister. She calls him “embarrassing” and “weirdo” but seems to be grateful for his help and solidarity in dealing with their father. Nate feels bad for his sister, as she is stuck living with their dad until she is 18 and has to deal with his expectations and pressure around her skiing and neglect of her emotions and happiness.
