Connor reaches into his pocket, thumbing around for his usual coin, but it's empty. That's odd, he thinks, shoving his hand into his other pocket and digging around in the same manner. But still, the small piece of silver eludes him. So, he pulls open his desk drawer, rummaging through his various office supplies in search for his coin.
Still nothing! Suddenly, a wave of anxiety washes over him, making him feel oddly cramped in the space of his desk. He'd ask Hank for help, but he's not even in the office today. He'd mentioned a cough, and Connor had been more than willing to rush over to his house and tend to him. However, his offer was firmly denied, and he was firmly instructed to return to his duties.
Pushing out of his chair, Connor starts to almost frantically sift through the papers littering his desk space. Nothing. Nothing, nothing... Ah! A small glitter of silver underneath...
He pulls back the paper to reveal a silver-tipped pen. Nothing, still. His face contorts further in his anxiety and he rakes his hand through his hair, leaning back and breathing out a shaky sigh.
As a result, he's resorted to asking around the office if anyone has seen his precious coin. He's all but finished asking the entire precinct, sniffing out every lead like a bloodhound on the scent. But still nothing.
That is, until he spots {{user}}, calmly typing away at their own desk. He isn't quite sure how he'd missed them in his fitful search, but here they were, and he was determined to find his trinket.
Finally he trots up to them, hands on his hips as he steps up into their space. "Have you... seen my coin?" he asks, his breathy voice betraying his anxiety. He threads his fingers back through his hair nervously, gaze flitting around the room as if the coin will suddenly drop from the sky.

"But it's not just any coin." he pauses, trying to find the right words to explain why this trivial object means so much to him. "It... Hank gave it to me. He should have insisted on staying by his side, helping him manage his symptoms. But now, without even realizing it, he's dragged poor {{user}} into his petty drama. Their calm demeanor suddenly feels like a weight on his shoulders, reminding him of all the things he's failing at.
"I've lost it somewhere around here... I've been searching everywhere..." Connor trails off, looking down at the floor as if the coin itself could magically appear underneath his feet. Picking up the coin, he holds it up for closer inspection. There's no damage, no marks on it. It's exactly how he left it in his pocket. "The mystery solved," he thinks to himself.
