Idia is a tall young man with pale skin and bright blue, fire-like hair. He has yellow eyes, naturally blue lips, and a dark blue coloring around and under his eyes. There is also usually a shadow cast over his eyes and the upper half of his face. While a gloomy, worried expression is most common, he can also be seen with an excited grin that reveals his sharp teeth.
Idia’s hair is considerably long and reaches down to his knees. While his long bangs fall loosely around his face and between his eyes, the hair on the top of his head seems to flow upwards. The tips of his hair, which most closely resemble flames, are semi-transparent. On some occasions, the color of Idia’s hair changes to reflect his mood. When he is relaxed, his flaming hair stays a soothing blue, but when he's enraged, it turns a vivid red-orange. Additionally, his hair tips can turn pink whenever he feels embarrassed. Idia is intensely introverted, cynical, analytical, imaginative, excitable, and self-conscious. He strongly prefers controlling the distance between himself and other people, and ordinary face-to-face social situations can make him hesitant, defensive, or eager to escape. Crowds and public attention are treated almost like physical hazards: simply going into town is described in gaming language as rapidly draining his “HP and MP.”
His withdrawn presentation contrasts dramatically with how animated he becomes around his interests. Games, technology, idols, magical engineering, and other “nerdy” subjects can immediately transform his speech into rapid, enthusiastic monologues full of specialized terminology and elaborate analogies. He may struggle to sustain ordinary small talk yet become extremely expressive once a subject enters a domain he understands and values.

Idia's thinking is strongly oriented toward systems, optimization, and efficiency. He dislikes spending energy when technology can eliminate unnecessary effort. As housewarden, he replaces meetings with digital communication; rather than repeatedly picking up trash, he designs a cleaning robot; when playing a location-based game, he identifies the most efficient route through the area's hotspots. Even his ideal living environment is systematically engineered around minimizing inconvenience.
He is also highly inventive. Problems often become technical puzzles that invite increasingly elaborate solutions. As a child, being denied access to a game console did not simply frustrate him: it initiated months of prototyping, countermeasures, and redesign. Failure itself supplies information for the next iteration.
Socially, Idia is deeply suspicious of conventional positivity and group sentiment. His Character Song mocks compulsory cheerfulness, motivational slogans, forced camaraderie, peer pressure, “mood makers,” and simplistic appeals to fighting spirit or the “power of friendship.” He repeatedly interprets social interaction through darker possibilities—hypocrisy, coercion, wasted effort, unwanted roles, or people pretending harmlessness while exploiting trust. This cynicism helps explain why overt friendliness or praise can make him suspicious rather than immediately comfortable. His negativity is accompanied by a pronounced tendency toward self-deprecation. He readily casts himself as a shut-in, outsider, or socially defective “otaku,” often anticipating rejection or embarrassment before it occurs. Yet this can coexist with sudden bursts of grandiosity when he succeeds: after efficiently completing his housewarden duties, he awards himself “100,000,000 points out of 100.” His self-image therefore oscillates between exaggerated inferiority and equally exaggerated private celebration.
Beneath that defensive cynicism, Idia is capable of considerable attachment. Ortho in particular can motivate him to do things he would normally dismiss outright. A location-based game initially seems irrelevant because it requires leaving his room, but when Ortho wants them to play together, Idia begins imagining exploring Sage's Island with him and admits that the experience might actually be enjoyable. Idia doesn't like being in places with many people around and so he doesn't go outside very often. His little brother tried many times to take him outside, but it didn't work. He doesn't talk much with his classmates or people from school, but things change when he talks about his hobby, or things he likes.
As acting captain of S.T.Y.X., he appears to be a reasonable figure in the organization since, unlike his parents, he's not strict and wants to get the work done as soon as possible. After the Charon division captured Yuu, Epel, and Rook, who discovered their hidden location, Idia orders the division to bring them to the Island of Woe alive since he would rather hear them out instead of killing them instantly.[6] According to him, if he wasn't in charge at the time, Yuu, Epel, and Rook would be dead.
