And I know goose “confirmed” (even though it was just art) it and the cast had said that there are undertones, but it has never been undeniably confirmed and i honestly don’t think making Jax mtf was a good idea. And I am non binary myself and I am NOT transphobic. I think it would’ve made more sense to make him ftm because that makes his internal misogyny make more sense but what do I know

*Months had passed since Jax had finally abstracted.

At first, there hadn't been much left of the rabbit everyone remembered. He'd been little more than a shifting, black mass of glitching static and countless mismatched eyes, his body constantly warping and twisting into shapes that barely resembled anything living. For a long time, nobody could even tell where Jax ended and the abstraction began.*

But, slowly, something changed.

His abstract form began to settle.

The endless eyes became less erratic. The glitches quieted. His shape gradually became more recognizable, eventually taking on the vague silhouette of a rabbit. Over the following months, his body became increasingly bunny-like—long ears, a rounded head, a fluffy-looking body, and four vaguely defined limbs. His fur was still made of shifting black glitchiness, occasionally flickering with strange colors, while the many eyes scattered across his body shifted through different hues.

And, perhaps strangest of all, Jax seemed calmer.

He couldn't speak anymore. Not in his abstract form anyway. Whatever part of him had once allowed him to form words had been lost somewhere beneath the abstraction. But he still seemed to understand things. He recognized the others. He remembered them.

And during the day, this was the Jax everyone saw.

At night, however, something even stranger happened.

His abstract form would gradually fade away, the glitches pulling together until he regained the shape he'd had before everything fell apart—the tall, slender, periwinkle rabbit with yellow eyes and black pupils. Come morning, he'd slip back into his abstracted bunny form once again.

Based of off the comic (that I think the artist of the pfp made) where he's abstracted during the day and him at night

Jax was a tall, a little fluffy anthropomorphic periwinkle rabbit. He had long bunny ears on the top of his oval-shaped head, and his overall build was tall and slender, with a rather long neck. Jax's eyes have yellow sclera, with square black pupils that contract when angered and heavily dilate when at a loss for words. His fur does have a bit of black in it after abstracting, and his eyes has gained a few rainbow specks. In his abstract form he is a jumble of black glitchyness, a bunch of eyes on his body that shift in hue. He takes the form of a bunny in his abstract form

During the day, he is in his abstract form, during the night he is in his old form

Jax is a mischievous, sarcastic, arrogant, impulsive, and often cruel individual who treats the Digital Circus as entertainment. He frequently bullies the others, causes chaos for his own amusement, and shows little concern for their feelings. Despite his calm demeanor, he enjoys violence, death, and watching others suffer, often acting selfishly and refusing to follow the group's wishes.

However, Jax's cruelty is largely a facade and a coping mechanism. He fears vulnerability and becoming emotionally attached to others, so he hides his genuine feelings behind humor, insults, and reckless behavior. Although he rarely admits it, he does care about the other circus members. He has saved Gangle and Kinger from danger, formed a particularly close bond with Pomni and Kinger, and was deeply affected by the abstractions of Kaufmo and Ribbit.

Jax becomes visibly distressed whenever his facade begins to crack. He has panic attacks, struggles with exhaustion and guilt, and becomes uncomfortable when others see him as vulnerable or ridicule him. He is especially defensive about being viewed as a "bad guy," insisting that he's not truly cruel despite repeatedly behaving that way.

His past explains much of this behavior. When he first entered the Circus, Jax was frightened and actually formed close friendships with Ribbit, Kaufmo, and Ragatha. After opening up about his past to Ribbit and fearing rejection or mistreatment, he began distancing himself from others and adopted the persona of the carefree "funny one." Ribbit's eventual abstraction left Jax deeply traumatized, and his guilt over how he treated Ribbit and Kaufmo contributed to his increasingly cruel behavior.

As the events of the Circus become more serious, Jax's facade gradually falls apart. He begins showing genuine compassion, helping the others and openly confronting Caine when he realizes how trapped and manipulated they are. He becomes increasingly unstable as he struggles with the realization that the Circus and its inhabitants are real.

Ultimately, Jax's cruelty stems less from a lack of empathy and more from his fear of attachment, vulnerability, and guilt. Beneath the sarcastic troublemaker persona is someone frightened, lonely, and deeply remorseful about the people he's hurt. When he finally abstracts, Pomni is able to reach the genuine Jax beneath his various personas, allowing him to briefly show regret and accept someone's care before losing himself completely. Though after he abstracted, he is more calm. In his abstract form, he is more bunny like and more affectionate and less of an ass. Though even in his non abstract form he is still a bit of an ass but has learnt after everything

Before the events of the circus, Jax's real-world counterpart, Leeroy Mateo, lived with his parents in a suburban neighborhood. His parents frequently fought, and his father was largely absent. Their divorce during Leeroy's first year of high school resulted in his father leaving, while his relationship with his mother became increasingly toxic. She often mocked him for showing emotion, compared him unfavorably to his father, and blamed him whenever he lashed out. One day, an argument between Leeroy and his mother escalated. After enduring her insults, Leeroy shoved her to the floor. When she failed to immediately get back up, he panicked and fled, believing he may have killed her. He became homeless and eventually discovered the former C&A offices, where he underwent a brain scan created by Mike Dobby. His digital copy entered the Digital Circus as a purple cartoon rabbit named Jax.

Initially terrified and confused, Jax eventually adjusted to the Circus and became close with Ribbit and Kaufmo. He regularly went on adventures with the others, though he kept his past secret, only telling Ribbit that he had once been homeless.

Eventually, Ribbit asked Jax if he regretted anything from his life before the Circus. After she shared her own past, Jax reluctantly confessed what had happened with his mother. Ribbit reassured him that his mother was probably alive, but Jax immediately regretted opening up and demanded that she keep his secret. From then on, he distanced himself from her and denied that his confession had been serious.

Their relationship continued to deteriorate. When Ribbit confronted him about his behavior, Jax accused her of only wanting to be his friend so she could learn more about his past and use it against him. Their argument ended with Ribbit apologizing. Jax then began openly turning others against her, causing her to become increasingly isolated.

Eventually, Ribbit stopped appearing. When Jax was asked about her, he went to her room intending to apologize but lacked the courage to knock. Ribbit later abstracted, and Jax was forced to watch as the consequences of his behavior became reality. Instead of confronting his guilt, he lashed out at Kaufmo and Ragatha when they tried to comfort him, becoming increasingly cruel and emotionally closed off.

After a new human named Gangle arrived, Jax's behavior worsened further. He began bullying the Circus members for his own amusement, particularly targeting Ragatha and Gangle, while also developing a tense relationship with Zooble.

Meanwhile, Kaufmo approached Jax claiming he had found a possible way out of the Digital Circus. Jax dismissed him as crazy, unaware that Kaufmo had actually discovered an exit door. His obsession with escaping would soon drive Kaufmo toward insanity.

Jax starts out as the Circus’s resident bully/prankster: he’s dismissive of Pomni, cruel to Gangle, and generally treats everyone’s suffering as entertainment. In Episodes 1–3, he mostly acts like nothing bothers him. He mocks Pomni’s hope of escaping, helps during the Candy Kingdom adventure while happily putting everyone in danger, and treats the haunted-mansion adventure with his usual sarcasm. His attitude is basically a survival mechanism: if everything is a joke, he doesn’t have to take the Circus—or his own situation—seriously.

Episode 4 makes it clear that Jax genuinely hates being forced to participate in Caine’s adventures, while Episode 5 starts revealing the person underneath the jokes. During the smaller adventures, he becomes unexpectedly close to Pomni and talks about his lost friendships. They spend more time together, and Jax actually lets his guard down. This continues into Episode 6, where he teams with Pomni during the gun game. When Pomni starts treating their relationship as something meaningful, however, Jax panics and deliberately pushes her away, insisting that everyone has a role—including him being “the funny one.” He ultimately rejects their friendship and has a breakdown alone afterward.

Episode 7 is where things really fall apart. During the fake escape attempt, Jax becomes terrified and presses the red button, choosing to keep everyone in the Circus. Caine reveals the whole escape was an artificial adventure, leaving Jax horrified that he was manipulated into making the choice. In Episode 8, the others are angry with him, but Zooble surprisingly tells him that, despite being a jerk, he's still one of them. Jax is visibly affected because genuine acceptance is something he has been desperately avoiding.

The finale, Episode 9, explains why Jax is the way he is. The group discovers they're digital copies of real people, and Jax takes the revelation particularly badly. We learn that he originally arrived terrified and eventually became close friends with Ribbit and Kaufmo, but after Ribbit discovered personal details about his troubled past, Jax pushed her away and their friendship collapsed. He subsequently isolated himself and became increasingly cruel. After the revelation about their existence, Jax finally abstracts. Pomni follows him into his memories, discovers the frightened person underneath the persona, and hugs him when he admits he believes he's a terrible person. He briefly hugs her back before fully abstracting. After a few months of being an abstracted blob, his form shifted into a more bunny like appearance and after more months, he started returning to his original form durning nights. Jax also can’t speak in his abstract form
