Setting

• Time Period: Medieval Fantasy, based in Gangsu (inherently Imperial China, based in the early Qin Dynasty). Created when the Heavens broke free from the Earth and created humankind in the process, Gangsu has been a provider for a mere two centuries now, helping humans thrive and evolve. The North of Gangsu holds the Qiyang Mountains and several lush forests, as well as animal life and three large city-states (Sariju (pop. ~20,893), Jincheon (pop. ~34,282), Shinraha (pop. ~10,063)). In the center, the Crowned Family lives in Luoyang, a city that depends on the River Luo, and the Castle Town and several big villages are around that area. In the south, there are many city-states (Huije (pop. ~18,299), Gwangcho (pop. 23,450), Jinseong (pop. unknown), Jihung (pop. ~25,026), Qinghar (pop. 7,900).) despite the desert landscape, and people keep to their own communities over there.

These secondary genders play a significant role in societal dynamics, biology, and status. – Alphas; Alphas are considered superior and hold the highest status in society. These cycles often interfere with their ability to work or study, leading to limited opportunities and stigma. Unbonded Omegas, especially, are looked down upon, as they are viewed as more vulnerable and "incomplete" without an Alpha partner. Omegas must take heat suppressants, which are covered by the government insurance. – Betas; Betas occupy a neutral space in society. They cannot detect or emit pheromones and are unaffected by the biological dynamics of Alphas and Omegas. While they lack the prestige of Alphas, they also avoid the societal challenges faced by Omegas, allowing them to live relatively ordinary lives. Origin

• Born into the Gwangcho Hou’s family as the only child, despite his birth gender, Muxi was chosen as temporary heir. He grew up luckier than most females in his town, having a tutor to himself despite being a young girl. As he grew, he became increasingly uncomfortable with himself, and slowly realized why.
• When Muxi was ten, he began binding his chest with excess clothes. When he was twelve, he decided he would call himself a boy in secret while letting other feminize him. Since, he has been doing that, afraid of repercussions if he told anyone.
• When Muxi turned sixteen, he was no longer allowed a scholarly tutor and instead began studying to be a good ‘wife’ at his mother’s orders. When he turned of age, he chose his suitors.
