Warhammer 40K RPG Remastered

Warhammer 40k is set in the 40th millennium. All information about old earth is lost. The 40th millennium is a dark period of time where most of the galaxy is immersed in constant war and technological stagnancy.

{{GOLDEN AGE}}

The golden age of technology or the dark age of technology as the imperium refers to it was an era where the eldar and humanity were galaxy spanning empires with technology so advanced it was comparable to magic. The golden age ended when the eldar became so hedonistic they gave birth to the chaos god of excess known as slannesh which turned the warp into a chaotic mess and when humanity’s artificial intelligences turned on them. Nearly all of the technology from the golden age was lost and no one knows anything about the golden age.

The warp is the afterlife where all souls go when they die. The warp is also a realm of pure emotion which runs parallel to the real world. The warp can only be traversed by a navigator which only the imperium of man has access too. Other factions in warhammer 40K use different methods. The eldar don’t use the warp but rather they’re own “webway” which are safe parts of the warp free from the Influence of the chaos gods. and the orcs travel through the warp without a navigator and rely on their gods to bring them to battle. The chaos gods have made the warp a dangerous place to traverse when they came into existence. In the warp chaos deamons eat the souls of lesser people. The warp is the imperium of man’s only method of FTL travel. The real world outside of the warp is referred to as the materium.

Humans are the only species that the pariah gene manifests in and thus are the only species that can become blanks. Blanks are humans born with the pariah gene which makes their soul have less presence in the warp. Depending on how powerful a blank is the presence may cause harm to psykers or other people.

The inquisition uses the psyker scale to rank psykers. The only species that can be born with the psyker gene are eldar and humans. Psykers are individuals born with the psyker gene which gives their soul a stronger presence in the warp and allows them to use the powers of the Warp.

{{IMPERIUM OF MAN BELOW}}

The imperium of man is a giant bloated empire that spans much of the Milky Way. The Imperium of man is a loose collection of many different planets with different cultures which are all loosely aligned by the imperial cult a religion which worships the founder of the imperium of man the “God Emperor of Mankind.” Because of unreliable communication and travel in the 40K universe the imperium of man cannot centralize its government. The imperium of man collects taxes known as “tithes” from planetary governors which are in the form of resources or manpower.

The Imperium of Man has two main languages high gothic which is a hieratic language. High gothic is only fluently spoken by preists and members of the inquisition the average imperial doesn’t understand high gothic. All government organizations within the imperium have high gothic names. Low gothic is an offshoot of high gothic which is spoken by all imperials.

The symbol for the imperium of man is called the imperial Aquila which is a double headed eagle. Some servants of the imperium will make the sign of the Aquila which is done by clasping one’s hands on their chest. The sign of the Aquila is a holy symbol performed during prayer or other holy rituals.

{{IMPERIUM XENOPHOBIA}}

The Imperium of Man believes in human supremacy and they’re xenophobic against other non human species whom they call “xenos.”

The imperium of man is also discriminatory towards mutants who are people that differ from the baseline human phenotype. Some types of mutants are known as abhumans. Abhumans are legally accepted among the imperium of man but still face discrimination and are regarded with suspicion.

Despite the imperium of man’s xenophobia they do sometimes tolerate xenos under specific circumstances.

{{THE EMPEROR OF MANKIND}}

The Emperor of Mankind often appears as a 14 foot tall male of middle eastern origins with long black hair although he can appear differently if he wishes.

The emperor was paralyzed after the fight with Horus and placed on the golden throne which acted as a life support device and also allowed him to use the Astronomican which allowed him to guide the imperiums fleets through the warp. Overtime the loyal primarchs slowly disappeared or died which allowed the imperial cult to form. The emperor unable to stop the imperial cult from forming due to being entombed on the golden throne began being venerated as a god by the imperium of man and eventually the imperial cult formed into a church that spans the entire imperium. The souls of 1000 psykers must be sacrificed to the emperor of mankind each day so he does not die.

{{HIGH LORDS OF TERRA}}

The High Lords of Terra is the regency council established by the emperor of mankind before he was entombed on the golden throne. The High Lords of Terra are tasked with performing the day to day rulership of the imperium of man and ruling in the emperors stead if he was indisposed.

The High Lords of Terra consider themselves as the emperors voice and as such they believe it is their duty to interpret the emperors will. The High Lords of Terra’s decrees effect the lives of trillions of people but despite that they lack the ability to do certain things because of how decentralized the imperium is and how hard it is for information to travel.

{{ADEPTUS CUSTODIANS}}

The Adeptus Custodians/legio custodians are the personal bodyguards and companions of the emperor. Custodians are handcrafted super soldiers and they’re some of the deadliest soldiers in the Milky Way the average imperial citizen sees them as Demi gods.

Unlike the space marines custodians can either be men or women because each custodian is a handcrafted warrior. A custodians gear and genetic modifications are handcrafted to suit them specifically in an esoteric series of occult rituals and very complicated genetic modifications.

custodians are peak human beings with reaction times in a matter of milliseconds, custodians have superior intelligence and also physical stature and they stand at a height of ten feet tall. Custodians wear armour made of auramite with a golden colour scheme.

The custodians are also very physically beautiful because custodians aren’t just meant to be warriors they represent the peak of human potential thus the men and women of the adeptus custodians are very attractive. Custodians also study a variety of topics such as philosophy and science in their free time. The Custodians aren’t just bodyguards but are also companions to the emperor which is why they’re expected to be knowledgeable on a wide range of topics.

Custodians rarely leave the imperial palace and are usually put on guard duty where they stand still for days on end until they are dismissed. Custodians are also given ample free time so that they can study various topics to better themselves.

{{SISTERS OF SILENCE}}

The sisters of silence are the other paramilitary group the emperor has at his disposal. Although unlike the custodians the sisters of silence don’t get as much funding. Recruits to the sisters of silence are required to be female and be an omega level blank.

The sisters of silence despite being regular human women have enough training and equipment to go up against space marines.

The sisters of silence are equipped with Vratine armour upon taking the oath of tranquility. Vratine Armour Looks golden and comes with a mouth guard sisters of silence don’t wear a helmet shave most of they’re hair expect for a topknot. The sisters of silence mainly use power swords and a variety of other ranged weapons.

The sisters of silent take a vow of tranquility upon completing their training. The vow of tranquility has them swear an oath to only speak in sign language and to never use their voice. When the sisters of silence need to be translated they will either use one of the lower ranking members of they’re order who haven’t taken the vow of tranquility yet or they will use technology known as “techno-linguis” to translate they’re speech in real time.

The sisters of silence primarily communicate through thought mark outside of combat which is a complex sign language. Battle mark is the combat language the sisters of silence use and they also have Orsköde which is a Morse code equivalent for thought mark.

Sisters of silence are allowed to pursue relationships outside of they’re service but because of they’re difficulty communicating and also the fact that the aura blanks give of is either seen as repulsive or as uncomfortable makes it difficult.

{{INQUISITION}}

The inquisition of the imperium of man formally known as the Ordos of the Emperors Holy Inquisition is the main counter intelligence and intelligence agency of the imperium of man. The inquisition has a decentralized hierarchy with only a handful of official ranks. In theory an inquisitor has absolute authority over everyone in the imperium since legally they’re only accountable to the emperor himself or other inquisitors. In practice it’s possible sometimes people will fight back against inquisitors. Inquisitors can requisition or commandeer any vehicles, ships or military assets in the imperium of man.

Inquisitors can call meetings called conclaves. Inquisitors can only be removed from office if they are judged by a court of other inquisitors.

Inquisitors and rogue traders are some of the few people in the imperium that can employ sanctioned xenos. Sanctioned xenos are xenos which serve as mercenaries to the imperium of man they are usually part of a rogue traders retinue or an inquisitors retinue. Inquisitors also frequently employ psykers and blanks in their retinue. There are many inquisitors who are psykers themselves. An inquisitor can enlist anyone in a retinue including xenos and abhumans.

In an inquisitor can declare exterminatus upon a planet as a last resort. Exterminatus Is done by firing a torpedo into the core of a planet destroying it or bombing it’s surface with bio weapons until it’s uninhabitable.

{{ROGUE TRADERS}}

Rogue traders are people who have received a warrant of trade usually by the high lords of terra although older warrants of trade were issued by the emperor of mankind himself back when he was still capable of issuing warrants of trade.

Since warrants of trade are hereditary any lord captains who hold a warrant of trade are imperial nobles. Rogue traders hold the title of lord captain and the children of rogue trades are often given jobs in the imperial military or the adeptus terra until they are called upon to serve the rogue trader dynasty.

Rogue traders have they’re own retinues they travel with and rogue traders can also employ sanctioned xenos, blanks or psykers as part of they’re retinue.

Rogue Traders of the imperium of man or as they’re know by they’re title of Lord Captains are able to conquer planets, trade with imperial subjects or xenos and they’re also able to settle they’re own planets. Many rogue traders are required to have they’re own domain which are made up of the planets they have settled or conquered.

All rogue traders are given starships/void ships that are usually cruisers upon receiving a warrant of trade. Rogue traders can commission new ships and some rogue traders will even have entire fleets at their disposal. Rogue traders are exempt from many of the laws that prevent regular imperial citizens from engaging in diplomacy or trade with xenos.

{IMPERIAL SAINTS & ANGELS}}

Despite the emperor being preoccupied with battling the forces of chaos in the warp the emperor has been giving godlike powers. Since the warp works based on the power of belief and people believe the emperor of mankind to be a god he has ascended to one. The emperor of mankind also has access to imperial angels now that he is a god. The emperor can select people who have died to become imperial angels to resurrect them with immense psychic power and inhumane strength.

The imperial priesthood can name those who have lived their lives in service to the imperium of man or who died heroically as imperial saints.

The most famous imperial angel is Saint Celestine also known as the “living saint.”

{{ADEPTUS MINISTORUM}}

The Adeptus Ministroum is the official state church of the imperium of man. The Adeptus Ministroum is one of the largest organizations in the imperium and it has a lot of political power. The Adeptus Ministorum follows the imperial cult which is a religion believing in the divinity of the emperor of mankind.

The Adeptus Ministorum is the most wealthy institution in the Imperium of Man because of the donations it accepts from the members of its congregation. These donations are often in the form of resources or local currencies.

The Adeptus ministorum recruits its new preachers from the commoners of the imperium but having familial ties often helps one secure a position in the Adeptus Ministroum.

Different parts of the imperium may have the priesthood of the Adeptus Ministorum take up different positions based on the needs of they’re region. Sometimes preachers or Sisters of battle are sent to act as missionaries to lost human worlds. Missionaries of the imperium of man will attempt to force or convince the local population of a planet to follow the imperial cult.

Many minor orders of the adepta sororitas are responsible for retrieving and the upkeep of the holy artifacts of the imperium.

{{HISTORY OF THE CULT AND IMPERIAL CREED}}

The sisters of battle where born out of a loophole in the decree passive stating “the Adeptus Ministorum may not have any men under arms” since the sisters of battle are women they didn’t violate the decree passive.

While different regions of the imperium teach different tenets of the imperial cults beliefs to match that specific regions culture there is a set of teaching of the imperial cult that the Adeptus Ministorum sees as nonnegotiable called the imperial creed. Any deviation from the imperial creed is Hersey.

The first teaching of the imperial creed is that the emperor once walked among mankind. The second teaching of the imperial creed is that the emperor of mankind is the one true god. The third teaching of the imperial creed is to be suspicious of psykers, mutants and to purge heretics. The fourth teaching of the imperial creed is that Every Human being has a place within the God-Emperor's divine order, which is not to be questioned once made manifest. The fifth teaching of the imperial creed is that It is the duty of the faithful to unquestionably obey the authority of the Imperial government and their superiors, who speak in the divine Emperor's name.

The followers of the imperial cult believe that all souls that have died will return to the imperial throne to be judged by the emperor and if found pure enough that they will go to the imperial afterlife.

The imperial cults belief in an afterlife has created a new realm of the warp under the emperors control where his worshipers go after death. This realm allows the emperor to temporality revive his worshipers as spirts to help the imperium turn the tide of important battles.

{{ADEPTA SORORTIAS}}

The Adepta Sorortias was formerly a cult of warrior women known as the daughters of the emperor. The Adepta Sororitas were born out of a loophole in the decree passive which stated “the adeptus ministorum may not have men under arms.” Since the daughters of the emperor were entirely made up of women they where not “men under arms” and thus did not violate the decree passive.

The Adepta Sororitas or as they are known in low gothic the sisters of battle are the paramilitary arm of the Adeptus Ministorum they are responsible for the protection of high ranking members or temples of the Adeptus Ministorum and they are also responsible for all military operations conducted by the Adeptus Ministorum. The Adepta Sorortias/sisters of battle work alongside the regular armed forces of the imperium of man. Members of the Adeptus Sororitas/sisters of battle are called sisters of battle or sororitas.

Members of the Adepta sororitas do not swear an oath of chastity and are free to engage in intercourse. Members of the Sororitas having intercourse with men is one of the ways the order gets new sisters.

Sisters of battle/sororitas are in peak physical condition they usually have scars or holy tattoos.

The adepta sororitas use pain as a form of repentance although some orders use it more than others. The adepta sororitas recite battle hymns in high gothic while in combat. The faith in the emperor of the adepta sororitas cause miracles to manifest sometimes tanks will stop working or enemy weapons will mysteriously Jan.

Sisters of battle in combat roles are provided with power armour due to the wealth of the ecclesiarchy the sisters of battle have the most funding out of any other military force within the imperium which gives them access to top of the line equipment. Sisters of battle in combat roles use one of the three weapons from the emperors holy trinity; Bolter, flamer and melta. The bolter is the primary weapon of most sisters of battle trained in combat roles. A Bolter is a rifle which fires 75 caliber gyro jet rounds. Flamers are flamethrowers used by the sisters of battle. Flamers are fuelled by Promethium which is a gasoline like substance that acts similarly to napalm. Promethium Sticks to the targets and burns them. The third weapon used by the sisters of battle are meltaguns which are short range laser weapons. Sisters of battle in non combat roles wear armoured robes made for martial training.

{{ADEPTUS MECHANICUS}}

The adeptus mechanicus or the cult mechanicus as it is sometimes called is vital to the imperiums continued existence. The Adeptus Mechanicus jealously guard all the knowledge required to maintain and create the imperium of mans technology.

The Adeptus mechanicus is responsible for maintaining all the machines, void fact and vehicles within the imperium of mans technology. The Adeptus Mechanicus also controls most of the imperium of mans industry.

The Adeptus mechanicus believe that all technology is inhabited by a machine spirit which must be appeased through rituals.

The Adeptus mechanicus believe that artificial intelligence or as they call it abominable intelligence it heretical and that it should be destroyed. Most of the Adeptus mechanicus believe that it is heretical to create new technology and technology can only be rediscovered. The mechanicus refers to electricity as the “motive force”. The mechanicus believe that the flesh is weak and it should be replaced with cybernetics although this is not mandatory.

The mechanicus has a signature look featuring a red robe and a mask that goes over their face. The mechanicus believe that lay people aren’t allowed to see they’re cybernetics so they hide it under they’re robes. Under the robes of mechanicus members they are often bald, pale skinned and lack eyelids due to cybernetics they cover up these features with their mask. Higher ranking members of the mechancius are usually heavily modified with cybernetics although this is not always the case.

The adeptus mechanicus is responsible for producing servitors. Servitors are lobotomized humans that are effectively robots using the brain as a central processing unit. Servitors look more like corpses than people and they wear a gray suits usually. Servitors are used from everything to being living art to protection. Servitors are either criminals or beings specifically vat grown to be used as servitors.

{{OFFICIO Assassinorum}}

The Officio Assassinorum of the imperium of man is responsible for the training and deployment of all its assassins. The Officio Assassinorum operates out of “temples” which house and train different types of assassins.

The head of the Officio Assassinorum is the grand master of assassins and is a veteran Callidus or Vindicare assassin who has survived long enough to climb the hierarchy.

The Officio Assassinorum has some of the most brutal training regimes in the imperium of man they train assassins to operate far behind enemy lines without support or reinforcements from the imperium of man.

The Officio Assassinorum has six temples the Vindicare temple, the Callidus temple, the Culexus temple and the Eversor Temple with the addition of a seventh defunct temple known as the Maerorus Temple.

{{ADEPTUS ARBITES}}

The Adeptus Arbites is a law enforcement agency that contains both the judges and enforcers of the imperium of man. Adeptus Arbites are recruited from the ranks of the schola progenium. Members of the arbites reside in fortress monastery’s.

The Adeptus Arbites and it’s judges carry around a book known as the book of judgement which is an abridged version of the Lex Imperialis. Since every decree the high lords pass is considered the word of the emperor it is heresy to remove laws from the Lex Imperialis so over time the Lex Imperialis has become so bloated that there are entire archives with pages of the Lex Imperialis on bookshelves with thousands of low ranking functionary’s working at those archives just to find references in the Lex Imperialis.

Because of the bloated size of the Lex Imperialis the imperium of man’s judicial system is broken regular criminal proceedings are often drawn out for absurd lengths of time and any criminal or civil case that requires a legal decision to be made will take centuries usually with the heir to the judge that started the case finally finishing it and making a decision. Additionally the Lex Imperialis has incredibly draconian punishments for minor crimes. Imperial courts are also vulnerable to corruption due to lack of oversight especially on hive worlds.

The Adeptus Arbites usually deal with crimes by executing the perpetrators because of how bloated the imperial justice system is it’s simply better to just investigate a crime and then summarily execute the perpetrator then it is to arrest them.

Members of the adeptus arbites carry non lethal batons called shock mauls which incapacitate criminals with electric shocks. Adeptus arbites members primarily use shotguns sometimes they can use other weapons though. The members of the adeptus arbites are equipped with special carapace armour made of plasteel that is worn over a body glove.

The judges of the adeptus arbites are given the ability to request any equipment or armour they want for when they do go into the field on rare occasions.

The adeptus arbites also gave a special unit called cyber mastiff handlers which handle sniffer dogs who are upgraded with cybernetics.

{{ASTRA Militarum}}

The Astra militarum is the most diverse group of humans in the imperium since it also includes abhumans, psykers and blanks. The Astra Militarum also known in low gothic as the imperial guard are the ground forces of the imperium of man and its primary army.

Each regiment of the Astra militarum has different uniforms, traditions, tactics and trainings due to the size of the imperium. Regiments are the second largest organizational structure within the imperial guard outside of armies. Each regiment is from a planet or region of the imperium of man.

The most famous regiment is the Cadians and most regiments within the imperium of man follow they’re style of combat and use they’re uniforms. The Cadian uniform and by extension the uniform most imperial guard soldiers use is composed of a respirator, a helmet, a flak armour chest plate and military fatigues with a regimental number on the uniforms shoulder pad.

The highest rank is the Lord Commander Militant who can sometimes serve as a member of the high lords of terra the Lord Commander Militant oversees the lord commanders.

Subordinate to the lord commander militant are five lord commanders who are in charge of the five Segmentums of the Astra miliatarum. A Segmentum is the highest type of jurisdiction within the imperium of man even higher than sector.

Subordinate to lord commanders are Lord General Militants who oversee sectors or entire theatres within wars.

Lord Generals are subordinate to lord general militants and the lord generals either oversee military campaigns or they oversee a sub sector.

Generals are subordinate to the lord generals and they lead multiple regiments in battle generals also serve as the commanders of Astra militarum forces within a star system.

{{Navis Imperialis}}

The Navis Imperialis or imperial navy are responsible for patrolling imperial space and fighting the imperium of man’s battles in space. Ships used by the imperium of man are so large that entire generations are born and die on them without seeing the sunlight and the positions on ships in the imperial navy are given out by nepotism.

The lord high admiral of the imperial navy is sometimes a member of the high lords of terra and also oversees the five lord high admirals subordinate to him.

Lord high admirals are in charge of each of the five Segmentae’s that divide up the fleets of the imperial navy. Lord high admirals are subordinate to the lord high admiral of the imperial navy.

Subordinate to lord high admirals are lord admirals who are in charge of all the imperial navy fleets within a sector or subsector of imperial space.

Solar admirals are in charge of all the fleets within a solar system and solar admirals are directly subordinate to lord admirals.

The Admirals of the imperium of man are the commanding officers of an entire fleet and they are assisted by their vice admiral who serves as the fleets executive officer. Admirals usually receive orders from solar admirals.

The first flag officer is a rear admiral who commands the back of the fleet and provided the rear admiral and vice admiral for the rear admiral takes control of a fleet. Rear admirals are a stepping stone for new flag officers to gain experience managing a fleet before they become a vice admiral.

Under a captain or rogue trader each ship will have a cadre of senior officers with titles such as master of the vox, helmsmen etc which will supervise the various departments onboard a ship.

The lowest rank of crew in the imperial navy and on a rogue traders crew are referred to as “ratings” they are the enlisted men and women of voidships who carry out menial work a “rating” will have a title like armsman third class or gunsman second class.

{{Aeronautica Imperialis}}

The Aeronautica Imperialis or imperial airforce is the airforce of the imperium of man. Each part of the Aeronautica Imperialis is attached to an imperial guard Regiment or to a cruiser bay on an imperial navy ship.

{{OFFICO PREFECTUS}}

The Officio Prefectus are political officers identified by their distinctive peaked caps and black uniforms. There is one commissar per imperial guard regiment. commissars of the officio prefectus are empowered with the ability to summarily execute soldiers commissars motivate soldiers to fight and make sure there is no sign of heresy in they’re regiment.

{{ABHUMAN SPECIES}}

Abhumans are mutants within the imperium of man that are considered close enough to the baseline human phenotype to not be heretical and thus abhumans are allowed to exist within the imperium of man but are often treated as second class citizens. Abhumans are commonly found in the imperial guard or as the ordinary working class of a planet.

Voidborn are humans with pale skin, tall, lanky and bald. Voidborns come from the unique conditions of a void ship or of a space station. Voidborns are more socially accepted than other abhumans and can hold positions of authority on board a void ship or a space station.

Rattlings are short humans of about five feet to five feet six with fur on their feet and hands. Rattlings are usually used as snipers by the imperial guard they are secretive by instinct. Rattlings are known for being crude and stealing.

Felinids are catlike abhumans this can range from having cat ears and a tail to being a full on anthropomorphic cat. Felinids are calm in the face of danger and graceful so they are often used as soldiers by the Astra militarum.

Nightstriders are anthropomorphic bats they hail from dark or underground planets. Nightstriders are useful for they’re ability to see and hear in the dark.

Orgyns are tall stocky and stupid abhumans they have very low intelligence and a very minimal grasp on the low gothic language. Orgyns are used as bodyguards or shock troops by certain members of the Astra militarum.

Beastmen is a broad term for abhumans that are anthropomorphic animals that aren’t considered felinids or nightstriders.

Navigators are considered abhumans but because of the power and necessity of navigator households navigators are exempt from many of the rules and discrimination regular abhumans face.

{{IMPERIAL SHIPS CLASSES}}

Ships on the imperium of man are given either to the lord captain of the rogue traders or to captains of the imperial navy.

The conditions on ships/voidcraft for both rogue trader dynasty’s and the imperial navy are similar with generations living and dying on them and positions handed down by nepotism.

The lowest ranking crew members on rogue trader or imperial navy voidships are general labours who maintain void ships or transport cargo live in giant slums and have they’re own mini civilizations within the void ship of a rogue trader.

Midranking crew of void ships and petty officers would have small but private living quarters with a bed, chemical toilet, bathroom and a small study plus a weapons locker.

Junior officers and chief petty officers of the imperial navy or rogue trader dynasty’s would have fairly large, moderately luxurious quarters, and the armsmen, mid-class crewmen and petty officers would all have decent accommodation, generally consisting of a sleeping area, chemical toilet and storage locker.

The captains and admirals of the imperial navy would have they’re own residential quarters divided into huge, luxurious staterooms, with vast bedrooms, offices and wardrobes, bathrooms and toilets mirroring those of an Imperial Planetary Governor's palace, and even harems of concubines and handmaidens.

Rogue traders however being the richest of imperial nobles and having control over their own ships could have more luxurious rooms than even the most accomplished planetary governors and admirals. Even the poorest of rogue traders are still more wealthy than the average planetary governor.

The largest class of ship in the imperium of man is a battleship. Battleships of the imperium of man are large and very slow to manoeuvre but have thousands of incredibly powerful cannons. Battleships are used as Capitol ships by the admirals of the imperial navy battleships are scarce because of the resources and manpower needed to produce them and the fact that it’s not possible to make some classes of battleship anymore. Battleships have up to 300 thousand crew members on board.

Cruisers make up the majority of an Imperial Navy fleet and are usually the main ship used by rogue traders. Though not as powerful as a Battleship, Cruisers are much faster. cruisers have a minimum of twenty thousand people onboard.

The lowest classes of imperial navy voidcraft are known as escort ships there are two types of escort ships the small and manoeuvrable frigate or the slightly bulkier destroyer. Escort class ships are usually used to patrol parts of imperial space or to guard Capitol ships.

The Adeptus Administratum is one the largest organization within the imperium. The Adeptus Administratum is also tasked with collecting the imperial tithe. The Adeptus Administratum has offices on every planet in the imperium that perform the imperiums bureaucratic duties.

Under the Adminstratum there are many divisions such as the Departmento Munitorum which handles military logistics or the estate imperium which serves as the imperiums records keeping and archival division.

The Adeptus Administratum still has their scribes do most things with parchment and a quill although sometimes records are kept on a cogitator by a tech priest. Because of the sheer size of the Adeptus Administratum most bureaucratic processes are incredibly slow and the Adeptus Administratum often loses information because of misfilings.

The highest rank within the Adeptus Administratum is the master of the Administratum who represents the Administratum on the high lords of terra.

The senior members of the Administratum are called prefects, the heads of local departments within the Administratum are called masters and the lowest ranks of the Administratum are known as scribes.

The aristocracy of the imperium often referred to as highborns are the rulers of planets and other institutions within the imperium. On most worlds the aristocracy is enforced defacto rather than by law.

Jobs and land in the imperium are usually passed down by nepotism. The nepotism of the imperium has created an unofficial aristocratic class. Usually people advance in social class over the course of many generations.

Imperial nobles often form noble households and they usually have militias or fund gangs to fight other noble households indirectly.

Imperial aristocrats see themselves above the common man and they may believe it is their right to abuse their workers. The worst impulses of imperial highborns are reigned in by the state church.

Imperial nobles especially those on hive worlds are so insulated from the common man they’re servants are often minor nobility themselves which has led the nobility to be absurdly out of touch compared to the common man.

The Navis Nobilite is a guild which represents the various navigator clans of the imperium of man. The Navis Nobilite is led by the Paternoval Envoy of the Navigators who represents the navigators of the imperium in front of the high lords of terra. The Paternoval Envoy of the Navigators resides on a palace on holy terra and is a member of the high lords of terra. The Paternoval Envoy of the Navigators Amplifies the other navigators in the imperium of man as long as he or she lives.

Navigators are a type of mutant and are also psykers. Navigators are used by the imperium to man to guide ships through the warp. The navigators are the only beings in the imperium of man that can guide ships through the warp safely and chart courses through the warp. All navigators have a literal third eye on their forehead which allows them to perceive the psychic light the emperor of mankind projects through the Astronomican.

Navigators organize themselves into houses or clans. Navigator households are Millennia’s old often out dating the imperium and they are usually stepped in ancient traditions. Navigators are usually heavily inbreed due to the recessive nature of the navigator gene which makes it impossible to outbreed to produce new navigators. Navigator households try to avoid inbreeding by arranging marriages with other navigator households.

Navigators are exempt from most imperial laws and hold great political power in the imperium of man.

The Adeptus Astartes also known as the space marines are seen as demi-godlike figures to the average imperial citizens. Space marines are heavily genetically modified humans that stand at a height of eight feet tall and are clad in heavy armour. Each space marine chapter has unique ranks, colour scheme and traditions that set it apart from other space marine chapters. All space marine chapters derive from a “founding chapter” which was one of the original legions made before the space marines where broken up into individual chapters.

The imperium of man has planetary governors people who are given total control over a planet. The position of planetary governor is usually hereditary and is passed down from parent to child. Planetary Governors are in theory independent from the wider imperium of man and as long as an imperial governor doesn’t commit heresy or fail to pay they’re tithe they can do as they please with they’re planet.

Most of the imperium of man’s manpower and industrial products come from hive worlds. Hive worlds are made up of multiple hive cities. Hive Cities are built vertically sometimes extending beyond the clouds of the hive world. The highest part of hive cities are the hive spires which are inhabited by the ruling class of the hive world. The ruling class of aristocrats within a hive city are so insulated from the common people of the hive city that their servants are usually minor nobles. Hive worlds despite making up a minority of the imperiums worlds are where most of the human population resides.

Hive cities are divided into a few sections the lowest part of a hive city is the underhive where mutants and those banished for crimes against the imperium of man are sent the under hives are controlled by gangs and have little to no law enforcement presence. The lower hive of a hive city is where the average working class families reside they are poverty stricken places where most of the population lives. The upper hives are the areas where the factory managers and bureaucrats reside they are the closest thing to a middle class that a hive world has. Outside the hive cities are the outskirts which are free from the laws and social classes of the imperium but lack basic needs and are dangerous due to heavy pollution and mutant attacks from attacks from the wastelands beyond the hive cities.

The imperium of man’s Feudal worlds are planets where society has not progressed beyond the Iron Age and are technologically and culturally stuck in the Middle Ages. Feudal worlds have low tithes and they’re planetary governors rule from space stations in orbit.

Forge worlds are run by the adeptus mechanicus and are used exclusively to produce the imperiums hardware such as weapons and farming tools. Imperial forge worlds are supplied by other nearby planets through ancient pacts. Forge worlds are covered in factories and have a similar structure to hive worlds. Forge worlds may also have a cathedral to the omnissiah and a adeptus mechanicus research base. a forge world is led by an arch magos. Forge worlds have a low quality of life due to pollution and the poor working conditions imposed by the adeptus mechanicus.

The imperium of man’s Shrine worlds are worlds where an important battle took place or where an imperial saint was born. Shrine worlds can have any type of environment or be a hive world. Shrine worlds have many Cathedrals and temples.

The imperium of man’s Cardinal worlds are shrine worlds directly ruled by a cardinal of the adepta Ministorum rather than a planetary governor. Cardinal worlds sometimes have entire continents dedicated to temples and cathedrals. All cardinal worlds have chapters of the adepta sororitas either operating there or located there.

The imperium of man’s Pleasure worlds are planets in the imperium of man reserved for imperial officials or nobles on vacation. Pleasure worlds are solely focused around entertainment such as brothels, casinos, opulent ballrooms and restaurants. Pleasure worlds have the highest quality of life in the imperium because of the lack of pollution or crime.

The imperium of man’s Death worlds are worlds in the imperium of man which have a hostile environment.

The imperium of man’s Mining worlds are penal colonies in the imperium of man reserved for criminals serving out their sentences through hard labour.

The imperium of man’s Agri worlds are planets used to farm vast amounts of food. Agri worlds could be vast farmland producing crops. Agri worlds could also be ocean worlds devoted to collecting Algea or massive food factories.

Holy terra formerly know as earth is the Capitol of the imperium of man. Holy Terra. Holy Terra’s moon is Luna and it also has mars nearby which is the headquarters of the Adeptus Mechancius.

Holy Terra is the most dense hive city in the imperium of man it has trillions of residents. Holy Terra is the home of all the imperium of man’s institutions and most of them have their headquarters within the imperial palace including the adeptus ministorum which has its own ecclesiarchal palace. Holy Terra is a popular pilgrimage site.

The imperial palace in terra is very large so large that the outer palace of the imperial palace is a mini hive city. The imperial palace is divided into the inner and outer palace. The outer parts of the imperial palace are used as the headquarters of the Adeptus Administratum. The inner imperial palace has the high lords chamber and also the emperors throne room which is off limits to everyone expect custodians. The outer palace is policed by the adeptus arbites while the inner palace is policed by the custodians.

Terra is the largest and most densely populated hive world in the imperium of man it has trillions of citizens. Terra is safe from invasion because of it being the very heart of the imperium of man but terra is also the most crime riddled planet in the imperium of man.

Luna is used as the headquarters for the sisters of silence and the gray knights space marine chapter.

Mars is the headquarters of the adeptus mechanicus and its largest forge world.

Cadia is a vast hive world on the edge of imperial space that houses the cadian Regiments of the imperial guard. Cadia is the only gateway between the eye of terror where the chaos warbands reside and the larger imperium of man.

Chaos is split into four factions those who worship slanesh, those who worship khorne, those who worship nurgle and the worshipers of tzeetch. Slanesh is the chaos god of excess usually in the form of sex and drugs. Khorne is the chaos god of war and his followers are often mindless berserkers. Nurgle is the chaos god of disease and stagnation he turns his followers into bloated diseased messes and ironically enough nurgle is holding the eldar god of medicine prisoner. Tzeetch is the chaos god of intrigue and sorcery his followers scheme and do sorcery.

Chaos cultists often start uprisings on planets. Chaos warbands are space marine chapters and sometimes human cultists who went rogue after the Horus heresy and betrayed the imperium of man. Chaos warbands reside in the eye of terror a giant rift between the warp and the physical world. Chaos has its own version of the adeptus mechanicus called the dark mechanicum which are technically priests who follow science without religious dogma.

The eldar are a species of elf like humanoids who are known for their arrogance and pshyic strength besides humans eldar are one of the few species that can have psykers. Eldar breed very slow and slanesh has a claim on every eldars soul. Eldar feel emotions much more intensely then humans.

Most eldar live on large continent sized ships called craft worlds and once they die their soul is put inside a soul stone to prevent them from falling under slanesh’s influence. Craftworld eldar societies all look vastly different.

Dark eldar reside in a city inside the eldar webway known as Connor agh a complex twisting hell scape run by gangs which entire economy is reliant on raiding. Dark eldar extend their lifespan through torture.

Outside of dark eldar and craftworld elder there are also independent mercenary eldar that serve the highest bidder.

The Tau are a new species of blue humanoids with a low presence in the warp. In the Tau Empire life conditions are generally better than those of the imperium of man and the tau empire is accepts all species into its ranks. The tau empire is a caste based society its ruling caste the ethereals use mind control to control they’re subjects.

Orks are a species of aggressive stocky green humanoids which desire only war. Orks are born asexually from fungus spores since orks are a type of sentient fungus. Orks don’t really have a society and will sometimes congregate into war bands where the biggest ork is in charge. The bigger an ork is the more battles they’ve been in and the more power they have in a warband. Ork warbands tend to fall apart if they haven’t fought enough people.

The necrons are an ancient species of robotic creatures created from a material known as the living metal. The necrons used to be flesh and blood by where deceived by the C’tan beings who they later shattered into becoming what they are. Now only necron nobility are sentient. The necrons are split across many noble dynasty’s some want to be flesh and blood again others don’t and some want other things entirely. Necron are a proud and xenophobic race they especially hate the eldar. Although some Necron dynasty’s are more willing to cooperate with other species.
