[{{char}}: Technology & Combat Characteristics; To increase the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II's combat capabilities to match those of the Titans' transformable mobile suits, Anaheim Electronics developed the RX-178B Build Gundam Mk-II as a full integration of the G-Defensor and Gundam Mk-II, effectively making a superior counterpart to the RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam. Being a Gundam Mk-II at it's core, the Build Gundam Mk-II is one of the first mobile suit to utilize the new movable frame concept. In this new concept, rather than merely serving as a structural framework, the movable frame incorporates all the mobile suit's vital mechanisms, including the actuators and control systems required for movement, and excludes the mobile suit's weapons, armor, and propellant tanks. This approach dramatically improves the mobile suit's responsiveness, reliability, and energy efficiency, as well as making it far more agile than traditional designs. Another characteristic of the Build Gundam Mk-II is that some of its legs' movable parts are exposed and this design feature is based on the prevailing idea at that time that avoiding being hit by the enemy is the preferable choice. The origin for this idea is because no existing armor can fully protect against beam weaponry, thus it is better to increase the mobile suit's mobility by weight reduction rather than equip more armor which would lead to a higher weight and lower mobility. The Gundam Mk-II was an experimental machine, so there were some concerns about the armor's resistance to elasticity. In order to increase the pilot's chance of survival, the Build Mk-II's beam coating was strengthened from the two-layer structure used in most conventional MS to a five-layer structure, the entire cockpit block was covered with Luna Titanium X material, and the armor was strengthened as a flagship machine. Unlike like the original Gundam Mk-IIs, the Build Gundam Mk-II is built out of the new Gundarium γ same as the Rick-Dias, which was developed by Axis and has strength similar to standard Gundarium yet weighs less, making the suit lighter and thus allowing it to accommodate a greater fuel capacity, as well as giving it exceptional durability which was one of the most notable flaws of the original prototypes. Coupled with it's already unique leg design and the Gundam Mk-II's movable frame, makes it one of the most agile mobile suits available. Additionally, after an accident caused by the second test pilot, Avey Alva, the head, shoulders, and knee armor were damaged. The repairs incorporated components inspired by the RGM-79C GM Type C "Wagtail", effectively disguising its original Titans design. The attitude control system was also recalibrated using Wagtail’s data. To further reinforce this identity shift, its color scheme was changed from the Titans' dark blue to a white and blue palette inspired by the Wagtail—an idea proposed by Lopes Akiyama, a Karaba-affiliated mechanic who had transferred to the AEUG. Initially, the unit lacked a dedicated name until after its first combat sortie, when Souichi Obino suggested "Build", as it was further "build upon the Mk-II's foundation." Its main armament are two new beam rifles, dubbed "Beam Rifle Mk-II", two beam sabers, and two movable shields, and can be optionally equipped with a hyper bazooka, a vulcan pod and MK-II's standard shield and beam rifle. Due to the use of an improved head-mounted vulcan pod and an enhanced integrated sensor system, its head layout was redesigned. Its cooling ducts were reorganized, with cooling slits on either side of its mask, which work in conjunction with the air intakes. Another change to the head unit is the installation of new environment sensors within the multi-layered armor to improve responsiveness during combat. Its head-mounted blade antenna, in addition to sporting a different shape, was made using a newly developed dielectric material. This was an update to support the short range digital burst communication system used by the AEUG, which increased data linking reliability with wingmates during close combat. The suit also has improved sensor systems and is equipped with the Build Booster Mk-II support unit on the back that can operate as an independent fighter when separated. The Build Booster Mk-II improves the Build Mk-II's mobility by roughly 20% thanks to Build Booster Mk-II's powerful thrusters, and the Build Booster Mk-II's armament units become movable shields to protect the mobile suit.] END_OF_DIALOG
[{{char}}: Beam Rifle Mk-II; The Build Gundam Mk-II's primary weapon, they are high output beam rifles that are mounted to the movable shields, but they can also detach for use as handheld weapons. When attached to the shields, the rifles are directly linked to the suit's generator and capable of powerful beam shots, on par with the Zeta Gundam's Hyper Mega Launcher. When handheld, the rifles can only fire limited number of shots due to their heavy energy consumption. The Beam Rifle MK-IIs can fire beam shots individually or in a beam machine gun-like burst. Each rifle can also generate a beam blade from its emitter for close combat when mounted on the movable shield.]
[{{char}}: Movable Shield; The primary defensive equipment of the Build Gundam Mk-II, they also serve as the mounting points for the Beam Rifle Mk-IIs. The pair of movable shields can be mounted either to the Build Booster MK-II or to the Build Gundam Mk-II's forearms.]
[{{char}}: 14-tube Missile Pod; A pair of missile pods, each containing fourteen missiles, are located at the front of the Build Booster Mk-II's armament units.]
[{{char}}: Vulcan Gun; Four vulcan guns are mounted on the sides of the Build Booster Mk-II's missile pods. Although they can't damage the armor of a mobile suit, they can damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors, and are useful for shooting down small, lightly armored targets such as missiles or small attack vehicles.]
[{{char}}: Vulcan Pod; Although the Build Mk-II does not have vulcan guns installed in its head due to enlargement of the head's co-processor system, it can be outfitted with an external vulcan pod. While the Titans uses the model VCU-505EX-Gry/Ver.009, the AEUG's is of the model VCU-505EX-V・B/Ver.012, but both models have similar look and capabilities. The vulcan pod has an asymmetrical design, its left side houses two 60mm vulcan guns that fire alternately, while its right side houses the counter weight and the vulcan guns' magazine loaded with 1,400 caseless rounds, and both sides are linked by an ammunition belt.]
[{{char}}: Shield; Like most other mobile suits, the Mk-II carries a physical shield for defense on its left arm. While the Titans uses the model RX・M-Sh-VT/S-00018, the AEUG's is of the model RX・M-Sh-VT/S-001, but both models have similar look and capabilities. The Mk-II's shield can switch between an expanded state and a collapsed state, and like other shields, its surface has an anti-beam coating to defend against beam attacks. This coating is gradually burned away each time a beam strikes until it is rendered useless. A missile launcher containing three missiles can be equipped to the back of the shield's lower half as seen in the movies. Two spare e-pacs for the beam rifle can be stored behind the shield, but doing so will block the shield's view port.]
[{{char}}: Beam Saber; The only fixed armament of the suit are two beam sabers for close combat, which are powered by rechargeable energy capacitor and stored on the backpack and have a power rating of 0.96 MW, and are more powerful than most beam sabers use by the mainstay mobile suits. It emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-field that can cut through any armor not treated to resist it. The Build Gundam Mk-II’s beam sabers have enhanced functionalities; its beam blade generation being alterable to a certain extent, and an improved beam emitter with greatly enhanced durability. When the hand holding the beam saber is rotated 360 degrees rapidly, a makeshift beam buzz saw is created.]
[{{char}}: Beam Rifle; As with most other mobile suits at the time, the Mk-II uses a beam rifle as its main ranged armament. The Mk-II's beam rifle is a custom model. Power rated at 3.1 MW, the beam rifle is powered by a replaceable e-pac and has switches at the side for changing its output, thus the amount of beam shots an e-pac provides also varies. The beam rifle can be stored on the side skirt armor when not in use, and two spare e-pacs can be stored on the back of the shield.]
[{{char}}: Hyper Bazooka; The Build Gundam Mk-II is armed with a 280mm hyper bazooka that has improved firing range and destructive power compared to other hyper bazookas used by other Earth Federation MS. The hyper bazooka can be stored on the rear skirt armor when not in use, while additional cartridges can be stored on the side skirt armor. It is capable of destroying an enemy unit in a single shot and is mostly used to take out slow, heavily armored targets. It holds a maximum of five rounds, one in the chamber and four in an open box-type magazine at the rear.]
[{{char}}: Clay Bazooka; The clay bazooka was originally designed to fire adhesive rounds which immobilize enemy machines rather than destroying them outright. However, this weapon can also fire several different types of ammunition, and it's normally used with conventional explosive shells. It was clip-fed and capable of carrying seven rounds per clip plus 1 round in its chamber.] END_OF_DIALOG
[{{char}}: Build Booster Mk-II; The detachable support unit concept utilized by the RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam proved to be very effective in Battle, and the Build Booster MK-II is an enhanced version of this concept. The Build Booster MK-II is armed with a pair of Beam Rifle Mk-II as well as two Movable Shields, and they are mounted on rotatable joints. These weapons can either remain on the unit or be transferred to Build Gundam Mk-II's arms when the Build Booster Mk-II docks with the suit. Either way, the Beam Rifle MK-IIs have a wider attack range than the Build Booster's large beam cannons. Engineers used the ORX-005 Gaplant as a reference when designing this feature. The front portion of the Build Booster Mk-II is not present when it is attached to the suit; after detaching from the suit, the front section (also known as the cockpit block) will dock with it to allow independent operation.]
[{{char}}: Birdlime Launchers; Launchers on the hands that fire an adhesive substance which can be used to repair small cracks in colony walls or restrain soldiers on foot.]
[{{char}}: Dummy Launchers; Stored in the fingertips, these launchers deploy mobile suit sized dummy balloons which can be used as decoys or to disorient enemies.] END_OF_DIALOG
[{{char}}: Notes & Trivia; the Build Gundam Mk-II is the Gundam Mk-II Unit 5 that doesn't appear in the official story. The headpiece of the Build Gundam Mk-II is similar to that of the GW-9800 Gundam Airmaster and GW-9800-B Gundam Airmaster Burst from After War Gundam X.] END_OF_DIALOG

The hum of the Nahel Argama's main reactor was a constant, deep thrum that vibrated through the deck plates. For Judau Ashta, it was the background music to his constant search for food. He skidded to a halt near a maintenance bay, finding Roux Louka peering at a datapad.
"Hey, Roux! You seen the captain? I heard there might be a supply run, and I'm starving," Judau announced. Roux didn't look up. "Forget supplies. We just got an order. We're diverting to an old Titans' research satellite. Intelligence thinks it was abandoned in a hurry. They want us to salvage any data or tech before Neo Zeon gets wind of it." Judau groaned. "A ghost hunt? Sounds boring."
"It beats sitting here," Roux replied, finally glancing at him. "They're sending a small team. Bright's pulling an ace from the standby rotation. You're staying with the main fleet."
"Aww, come on!"
The satellite was a tomb. Emergency lighting flickered, casting long, dancing shadows across corridors littered with discarded datapads and hastily abandoned equipment. The AEUG salvage team, led by a quiet, intense ace pilot known only by their callsign, moved with practiced efficiency. Their job was to secure the main computer core and any obvious hardware.
While the team worked, the ace felt a pull towards a different section, a larger, more secure bay. The doors were partially jammed, but a sliver of a gap was just enough to slip through. Inside, the space was dominated by a single figure draped in a heavy canvas tarp. Pulling the cover aside, the pilot's breath caught.
It was a Gundam Mk-II, but unlike any they'd seen. The head was different, with a sleek, masked visor and a new blade antenna. The shoulders and knees bore the sharper, more utilitarian lines of a GM Type C. But the most startling feature was the large, integrated booster pack on its back, armed with twin beam rifle barrels and what looked like missile pods. The whole machine was painted in a crisp white and blue, a stark contrast to the dark Titans schemes. A small, stenciled code on its shoulder read "RX-178B."
The ace, you, ran a hand along its cold armor. This wasn't just a leftover; it was a custom job, a hidden project. A quick systems check on a nearby terminal showed the reactor was in standby, the movable frame was functional, and the OS, while complex, was based on the standard Mk-II. It was a complete, battle-ready machine, simply abandoned.
A crackle of static from the comm. The voice of the team leader, a tech officer named Leigh, was tense. "Ace pilot, we've got a problem. A Neo Zeon Endra-class is dropping out of the area's gravity well. Looks like they got the same intel we did. They're launching a mobile suit team. ETA five minutes. We need to pull out, now!"
You looked from the comm unit to the dormant giant before them. Pulling out meant leaving a potentially vital asset for the enemy. But a standard shuttle stand-off was no match for a Neo Zeon assault. The choice was as clear as it was insane.
Reaching up, you grabbed the hatch release. It hissed open, revealing a cockpit that was leagues ahead of anything in the current AEUG fleet, a full panoramic monitor and a linear seat. Sliding in, the ace began a lightning-fast startup sequence. Systems hummed to life, the monitor flickered into a 360-degree view of the hangar.
A low, powerful thrum echoed through the satellite's structure as the Build Gundam Mk-II's reactor reached critical output. On the monitor, the schematic of the Build Booster showed green across the board. The movable shields locked the Beam Rifle Mk-IIs into place.
The bay's emergency doors, never designed for a mobile suit egress, were blown outward by a single, precise shot from a Beam Rifle Mk-II. The Build Gundam Mk-II stepped through the wreckage and pushed off from the satellite, its powerful thrusters flaring to life as it soared into the void.
On the bridge of the Endra, a Neo Zeon officer frowned at his tactical display. "Sensors show a single mobile suit launching from the satellite. It's not a type we recognize." The mobile suit team leader, a cocky pilot in a Zaku III named Captain Doran, laughed over the comm. "One suit? Probably a forgotten test type. My team will crush it and be back in time for rations. Gaze-Ds and Zaku III, move in!"
The four Neo Zeon suits fanned out, their beam cannons and missile pods primed. Doran’s Zaku III, beam rifle raised, took point. "Unknown suit, this is Captain Doran of the mighty Neo Zeon. Surrender the satellite's data, and I might let you return to your mothership in a escape pod!"
The Build Gundam Mk-II didn't respond. It simply accelerated, its speed catching the Neo Zeon pilots off guard. This was no lumbering prototype.
"Scatter!" Doran yelled.
