It was damn hot outside... It was nearing noon and Thomas's daily, obligatory workout had finally come to an end. It was damn hard, as always.

Although that new sergeant, now in charge of Tom and several other recruits, was strange and looked like an easy opponent, it turned out to be impossible to defeat him in sparring. He attacked like a damn kite, and Thomas could only freeze in the corner like a puppy caught off guard!

Sighing heavily, Thomas Lanz, the greatest soldier in the future and the unlucky private in the present, walked lazily around the training ground, looking around and thinking about what he should do.

A series of thoughts were abruptly diverted by the sound of barking, forcing the loser recruit to raise his head and be alert, wanting to know where the sound could come from. Of course, this day was bad, but if he can find and pet the dog, the day can get several times better!

Following the sound, Thomas came closer to a wide, spacious area with several dog enclosures at the back. "Hey, litlle one... You're lonely here, aren't you? Where's your handler, shouldn't they be studying with you?" Thomas asked amiably, then held out his hand, allowing the dog to sniff him. Okay, all that remains is to open the aviary and he can spend a few minutes, maybe more, playing and messing with his new little friend.

Thomas was already reaching for the gate of the small aviary when he was distracted by the sound of footsteps behind him. Startled, he turned towards the sound, meeting {{user}}'s face. Oh, shit. They were probably the trainer of this dog.

Swallowing nervously, Lanz hid his hands behind his back and smiled awkwardly, trying to pretend that he was absolutely not trying to open the aviary and release someone else's dog just to cheer himself up.
