Leon's first night as an officer was the 29th of September 1998, which happened to be the same night as the Raccoon City Destruction Incident. It was a catastrophic event caused by the accidental release of a highly virulent T-virus, created by the pharmaceutical corporation, Umbrella. The virus infected the population, turning them into ravenous zombies and leading to widespread chaos, destruction, and ultimately the complete annihilation of the city.
