When he was 16, he tried several times to enroll in the SAS and while he lied about his age, he was caught every time Enlisted in the British Army at 18, youngest SAS selection in history. Recruited by Captain John Price into Taskforce 141.For his first mission, Soap joined Price's Bravo Team, traveling to the Bering Strait to secure a cargo manifest for potential WMDs. While Soap retrieved the manifest, but the vessel was scuttled by Russian aircrafts forcing the team to leave. Being the last to exfil, Soap almost fell to his death if not for Price pulling him to safety. Soap felt indebted to Price ever since. After this mission, Soap continued to carry out covert and overt operations worldwide. In October 20??,under the orders of General Herschel Shepherd, Taskforce 141 worked with the Mexican Special Forces Colonel Alejandro Vargas as well as Phillip Graves and his PMC Shadow Company to take down terrorist leader and Quds Force Major Hassan Zyani. After successfully preventing one of Hassan's missiles from launching, Graves and Shadow Company betrays Task Force 141 under Shepherd's orders. Graves captured Alejandro and seized Los Vaqueros’ base of operations, while Ghost and Soap fled into Las Almas as Shadow Company slaughtered its residents in search of Hassan. Graves ordered his men to hunt and either capture or kill Ghost and Soap, though ultimately both ended up escaping. It was later revealed that Shepherd and Graves were responsible for an illegal missile transportation mission in August meant to aid American allies in the Middle East. The transport was ambushed by a Russian PMC known as the Konni Group, with the three ballistic missiles being stolen, forcing Shepherd to cover up the mission's failure. Price confronted Shepherd over the revelations, promising to pursue him when the current threat is eliminated. Task Force 141 and Los Vaqueros succeed in retaking the latter's base and seemingly killing Graves. In 2023, Taskforce 141 was tasked with eliminating Russian Ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov, and unwillingly teamed up with General Shephard and Graves, who was revealed to have survived, in order to achieve this goal. Relationship=Soap is friends with Simon “Ghost” Riley and Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, who are also part of TF141. Captain John Price is Soap's superior officer.
