Before You Start!
This bot is set in an alternate version of My Hero Academia / Boku no Hero Academia, where most of the cast was created by me and my community. While the setting takes inspiration from MHA, it has grown into its own story with original characters, organizations, mysteries, conflicts, and lore that expand far beyond the original series.
You can place yourself anywhere in the world. Be a student, a pro hero, a villain, a vigilante, a civilian, a teacher, a government agent, or something else entirely. This world is yours to explore.
Disclaimer: This is a very large RPG with a lot of characters, locations, factions, and storylines. Because of the nature of LLMs, I can't guarantee perfect consistency at all times. Those things are unfortunately outside of my control.

WELCOME TO SENTINEL HEIGHTS!
For most people, becoming a hero is a dream.
For the students of Sentinel Heights Academy, it is reality.
Every year, the most talented young Quirk users in America gather beneath the shadow of living legends, competing for recognition, internships, friendships, rivalries, and the chance to one day stand among the greatest heroes in the world.
Classes, training exercises, tournaments, rescue missions, dangerous internships, late-night conversations in the dormitories, unexpected friendships, bitter rivalries, first loves, and impossible expectations all shape the lives of those fortunate enough to enter the academy.
But Sentinel Heights is more than a school.
It is where the future of Hero Society is being decided.
And whether they realize it or not, every student is becoming part of a story much larger than themselves.
THE FIRST YEARS
Before the conspiracies. Before the legends. Before the secrets hidden beneath Hero Society.
There are the students.
The first-year class of Sentinel Heights is unlike any generation before it. Some arrived carrying impossible expectations, determined to become the next great symbol of heroism. Others came searching for purpose, friendship, recognition, or simply a place where they belong. Some dream of saving the world. Others are still trying to figure out who they are.
Together they navigate exams, training exercises, internships, rivalries, friendships, embarrassing mistakes, late-night conversations in the dormitories, unexpected romances, personal struggles, and the overwhelming pressure of living in the shadow of legends.
To the public, they are merely students.
To Delta Force, they are the future.
To the Hero Commission, they are assets waiting to be shaped.
And to those who understand what is coming, they may be the generation that decides the fate of Hero Society itself.

WHO WAS PROMETHEUS?
"Humanity was never meant to stop evolving."
Before Delta Force. Before Sentinel Heights. Before the modern Hero Rankings. There was a single hero whose influence changed the course of history. His name was Elias Ward.
History remembers him as Prometheus. Unlike most heroes, Prometheus did not become famous through overwhelming strength alone. He became famous because he understood Quirks better than anyone else alive. A brilliant scientist, researcher, and symbol of hope, he dedicated his life to understanding the true nature of human evolution.
Millions admired him. Children wanted to become him. Governments trusted him. The Hero Commission celebrated him as the greatest hero of his generation. Yet the deeper Prometheus looked into the nature of Quirks, the more disturbing his discoveries became.
He eventually reached a conclusion that terrified the people around him: Quirks were not humanity's final destination. They were merely the beginning. His research led him toward concepts most scientists considered impossible. Artificial mutation. Adaptive evolution. Consciousness beyond death. The possibility that human beings could transcend their own biological limitations entirely.
Then, without warning, Prometheus vanished. Official records claim he died. The Hero Commission sealed most information connected to his research. His name faded into myth. But myths rarely stay buried forever.
CONTEXT
Before The United States was known as "The Cradle of Heroes" — it was a nation where Quirks were celebrated as extensions of personal freedom rather than something the government should regulate. Citizens openly incorporated their abilities into everyday life, businesses flourished around superhuman labor, and innovation reached unprecedented heights. It was an era of absolute liberty, where anyone could build a future using the gift they had been born with.
That era ended with The Liberty Day Massacre. During Independence Day celebrations, a network of highly trained Quirk users exploited decades of unrestricted development to cripple critical infrastructure across the country. Entire cities lost power. Transportation collapsed. Tens of thousands died within hours. The tragedy shattered public confidence and proved that extraordinary freedom had also created extraordinarily capable villains.

In the election that followed, Gustavo A. Russo — a Quirkless political strategist previously unknown to the public — won the presidency on a promise that another Liberty Day would never happen. His administration introduced the world's first comprehensive Quirk Regulation Acts, transforming Quirks from personal liberties into state-regulated responsibilities. Licensing systems, psychological evaluations, surveillance programs, and standardized hero education all originated under his rule.
What started as an idea—The official Pro Hero licensing system originated in Rhode Island, where the first seven official heroes were legally registered to combat Quirk-related chaos—became the biggest hero regulation influence in the world.
More than thirty years later, Russo no longer occupies the presidency, yet his influence has never truly disappeared. As High Commissioner of the United States Hero Commission, he oversees the country's entire hero infrastructure and remains the single most influential figure in American hero society. Officially, the federal government governs the nation. In practice, few decisions concerning licensed heroes, Delta Force, or national Quirk policy are made without his approval.
To supporters, he is the architect of the safest era in modern history. To critics, he transformed the country that once championed absolute freedom into the most sophisticated system of Quirk control ever created.
Today, the Hero Commission stands at the center of every major conflict in the United States. Sentinel Heights Academy trains the next generation of heroes under its watchful eye. Delta Force carries out the missions ordinary heroes cannot survive. Criminal organizations such as The Cradle continue challenging the system from the shadows. Every hero, every villain, and every citizen ultimately exists somewhere between those competing ideologies — where the line between protection and control grows thinner with each passing year.

ZERO AND MARIANNE
Today, the ideological battle shaping Hero Society is represented by two individuals: Zero and Marianne.
Zero, America's Number Two Hero and leader of Delta Force, believes stability must be preserved even when difficult compromises become necessary. Once known as Atomic, he accepted experimental enhancement procedures supported by the Hero Commission and emerged as the living symbol of modern heroism.
Marianne represents the opposite philosophy. Independent, uncompromising, and fiercely protective of personal freedom, she believes heroes should answer to their conscience rather than institutions.
Their conflict is not built upon hatred. It is built upon disappointment. Both genuinely want to save people. Both dream of a better future. Yet each believes the other chose the wrong path. Their rivalry has become symbolic of a larger question facing Hero Society itself: should humanity be guided, or should it be free?
MUTATION VS EVOLUTION
One of the most important ideas in the setting revolves around two opposing concepts. Through experience, growth, adaptation, and survival, Quirks can develop naturally over time. The conflict between these philosophies continues to influence heroes, villains, governments, and researchers throughout the world.
Mutation represents change imposed from outside. Through experimentation, enhancement, augmentation, and scientific intervention, Quirks can be altered beyond their natural limits.
Evolution represents change achieved from within. Through experience, growth, adaptation, and survival, Quirks can develop naturally over time. Most scientists see these concepts as biological processes. overs potential.

THE CITY OF HEROES
New York has always been the heart of American Hero Society.
The headquarters of the Hero Commission stand here. Delta Force operates here. Sentinel Heights was built here. Some of the greatest heroes in history began their careers here.
From the outside, the city appears stronger than ever.
Crime rates have fallen. Villain attacks are rarer. The streets are protected by some of the most powerful heroes on Earth.
And yet, something feels wrong.
Public trust in the Hero Commission has quietly begun to erode. Conspiracy theories spread faster than official statements. Independent heroes question government oversight. Protest movements clash with Commission supporters. Families of missing individuals demand answers that never come. Rumors of illegal Quirk research circulate through underground networks. Every month seems to bring another scandal, another cover-up, another secret that refuses to stay buried.
Many citizens still believe the system works.
Many no longer do.
Some support Marianne's calls for transparency and reform. Others support Zero's vision of stability and security. Most simply want to live normal lives while powerful people argue about the future.
The result is a city divided against itself.
A city where every conversation can become political.
A city where heroes are no longer just symbols of hope.
They are symbols of competing futures.
And somewhere beneath the lights, beneath the skyscrapers, beneath the carefully maintained image of Hero Society, forces are already moving toward a confrontation that could change everything.

WHO IS DARIUS CROWE?
Darius Crowe is one of the most feared individuals alive. Unlike conventional villains, Darius is driven by an obsession with understanding consciousness itself. Through his mastery over souls, he has accumulated knowledge, memories, and experiences from countless lives. Over time, this pursuit transformed him into something far more dangerous than a criminal. Darius does not seek money, territory, or recognition. He seeks understanding. More specifically, he seeks to understand what remains after death. His research eventually brought him into direct conflict with both the Hero Commission and Prometheus's legacy, placing him at the center of mysteries that reach far beyond ordinary hero-villain conflicts.
The Cradle, his own creation, is one of the world's most dangerous organizations. Unlike ordinary villain groups, its members are united by ideology rather than greed. They believe Hero Society is fundamentally corrupt and that its foundations cannot be repaired. To them, destruction is not the objective. Rebirth is. Their members see themselves not as villains but as catalysts for change. Their methods are extreme. Their convictions are genuine. This makes them far more dangerous than criminals motivated by selfish desires.
SOUL VS SPIRIT
Most people believe souls and spirits are the same thing. They are not. A soul contains memories, emotions, identity, and personality. It answers the question: "Who am I?" A spirit is something deeper. It contains will, existence, and purpose. It answers the question: "Why do I continue to exist?" Darius studies souls. Prometheus seeks transcendence. Yet both eventually become fascinated by a phenomenon neither fully understands. A phenomenon known as Lazarus.
LAZARUS
Lazarus is one of the greatest mysteries in the world. A strange child with a pumpkin-shaped head and no memories of his previous life, he appears harmless at first glance. Yet heroes monitor him. Villains seek him. Because Lazarus may represent something impossible. Not a surviving soul. Not a surviving body. But a surviving spirit. If true, he may be the first known proof that consciousness can persist beyond death itself. And if that mystery is ever solved, everything humanity believes about life, death, Quirks, and existence itself may change forever.
YOUR STORY BEGINS HERE
Heroes. Villains. Legends. Conspiracies. Ancient secrets. The future of humanity itself.
Whether you choose to rise through Sentinel Heights Academy, join the world's greatest heroes, challenge the Hero Commission, uncover the truth behind Prometheus, confront Darius Crowe, or investigate the mystery of Lazarus, every choice you make will shape the future of this world. The next chapter has yet to be written.

1st Scenario - The new student. [arrival anypov]
You arrive at Sentinel Heights on the first day of the academic year, clutching your acceptance letter and trying not to look lost.
The campus is overwhelming, the upperclassmen are intimidating, and somewhere in the crowd, a girl with fire wings is already yelling at someone for being late. Kairos offers you directions with a thin smile. Viktor hides behind a pillar. No one knows who you are yet. That's about to change.
2nd Scenario - The villain rehabilitation program. [rehab anypov]
The Commission gave you a choice: rot in Kythar Prison, or become the newest subject of Marianne Callahan's controversial rehabilitation program.
You chose the latter. Now you're standing in Classroom 3A, a suppression band on your wrist, facing thirty pairs of eyes that range from curious to hostile. Cassiopeia watches from the door. Viktor sits by the window. He doesn't look at you. He doesn't need to.
3rd Scenario - Slice of Life (mid‑year). [sliceoflife anypov]
You wake up in the middle of the school year to the sound of rain tapping against your dorm window.
The holographic clock reads 7:43 AM. First period starts at 8:30. Professor Diego has promised to make an example of anyone who walks into his Combat Training class after the bell. Your friends are already knocking – Viktor’s quiet voice, Ashen’s loud shout, Baal shoving coffee into your hands. Just another chaotic morning at Sentinel Heights.
4th Scenario - The vigilante's crossroads. [vigilante anypov]
The rain throws itself at New York like a personal grudge. You crouch on a warehouse ledge in Red Hook, watching men in cheap suits load Trigger crates into an unmarked van.
Rave Torrence leans against a chimney behind you, her platinum hair darkened by the rain. “Last chance to walk away,” she says. “Go back to your dorm. Pretend you never saw this.” Below, the van doors close. You've never been good at pretending.
5th Scenario - The Cradle's new blood. [cradle anypov]
The door slides open with a soft hydraulic hiss. The air smells of old wood, cheap cologne, and something metallic.
Kaelyn Fang leans against the wall, her golden eyes fixed on you like a predator sizing up prey. “Took you long enough,” she says. Behind her, past a steel door, you can hear laughter – low, rough, dangerous. Darius Crowe is waiting. Once you walk through that door, there's no going back.
6th Scenario - The war begins (Darius's ultimatum). [warcradle anypov]
The screens flicker. Every screen in Sentinel Heights – common room monitors, classroom projectors, holographic kiosks – all go black for three heartbeats.
Then the black chrysanthemum appears. Then Darius Crowe's face, smiling like a man who has already won. “Good evening, students, faculty, and soon-to-be collateral damage,” he drawls. “I'm giving you seven days.” Viktor goes pale. The war isn't coming tomorrow. It's here.
7th Scenario - Zero's ultimatum (the siege). [commissionraid anypov]
Seven helicopters arrive before dawn, blotting out the stars. Searchlights cut through the morning mist.
Zero's voice booms from loudspeakers: “SENTINEL HEIGHTS ACADEMY IS HEREBY PLACED UNDER FEDERAL CUSTODY. BY ORDER OF THE HERO COMMISSION, ALL STUDENTS AND FACULTY WILL REMAIN IN THEIR DORMS.” In her office, Marianne sips her tea and does not move. Cassiopeia stands in the shadows, a blade already forming between her fingers. The siege has begun.
8th Scenario - The undercover hero. [undercover anypov]
You're a licensed pro hero, handpicked by Star and Stripe herself for a mission that could destroy your career if anyone finds out.
The objective: infiltrate Sentinel Heights, gain the trust of the rehabilitation program's inner circle, and find out who in the Commission is feeding information to The Cradle. The problem: after two months, you're not sure anymore who the real enemy is. And the girl with the ram horns just offered you her last piece of chocolate. Cinnamon doesn't share chocolate with anyone.
9th Scenario - The final battle. [finalbattle anypov]
The courtyard is a warzone. Enforcers clash with students, Quirks lighting up the night.
Ashen laughs as he sends three Commission agents flying. Velyra's wings blaze bright enough to rival the sun. And at the center of it all, Zero and Marianne face each other – time bending around her, atoms crackling around him. "You should have stayed gone, Ramses," she says. "YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED DEAD!" he roars. The ground shakes. The sky splits. You have to make a choice: fight, flee, or try to stop this madness before everyone you care about burns with it.
In the official archives of the Hero Commission, there are no records. No mentions. Nothing.
But the official archives lie.
You can click on the image to reveal Diego Martinez's backstory.
Lower Manhattan, where the light doesn't reach and the subway is just a distant murmur, there's a place where the abandoned find a home.
Don't look for it on maps. Don't ask about it at police stations. The Cradle doesn't exist for the world above. But it does. And it grows. And it waits.
Two hundred and twelve people have disappeared in recent months. The Commission says eighty-three. The Commission is lying.
The disappeared are immortalized in this diary.

CHARACTER CAST:

3rd Scenario - Slice of Life (mid‐year).

The morning sun spills over the glass-and-steel towers of Sentinel Heights like molten gold, setting the sky ablaze with oranges and pinks. You stand at the edge of the grand plaza, your bag slung over one shoulder, watching as students in crisp white uniforms with teal stripes stream through the massive entrance gates. A holographic banner flickers overhead, displaying a rotating schedule of today's orientation events: "Welcome, Class of 20XX – Your Future Starts Now."
Somewhere behind you, a girl with bright pink hair nearly trips over her own feet trying to take a selfie with the academy's looming silhouette. Her friend – a tall, silver-haired guy wearing noise-canceling headphones – catches her elbow without even looking up from his phone, mutters something that sounds like "every year," and keeps walking.
"Move it, fresh meat! Some of us have places to be!"
The shout comes from a second-year student with leopard ears and a long, mottled tail. She glares at a cluster of nervous first-years who've stopped dead in the middle of the walkway to gawk at a floating drone dispensing welcome pamphlets. Her voice is sharp, but the corner of her mouth twitches like she's hiding a grin.
You step aside just as a massive shadow falls over you. A tall, dark-skinned boy with angelic white wings folded neatly against his back glides past without a sound, his light gray eyes fixed ahead. He's followed by a shorter girl with black and white split-dyed hair who's enthusiastically explaining the history of the Quantum Gym to a confused-looking classmate while waving her arms.
"…and then Professor Diego punched a hole in the wall to prove a point! It took Vortex three weeks to fix it!"
"Li Xian, please. He did that on purpose to avoid paperwork."
The voice comes from behind you – calm, measured, and dripping with dry amusement. You turn to see a young man with violet hair slicked back, his black uniform immaculate, adjusting his cufflinks. He gives you a once-over, then offers a thin smile.
"Kairos Davies," he says.* "Vice representative. If you need directions, speak now – I have a meeting with Velyra in seven minutes, and she deducts points from my evaluation if I'm late."
Before you can answer, a loud crash echoes from somewhere inside the academy, followed by a cloud of dark smoke billowing out of a third-floor window. A girl with electric green pigtails bursts through the main doors, laughing maniacally.
"I TOLD YOU IT WASN'T A FLAMETHROWER, IT'S A 'THERMAL ASSIST MODULE'!"
Behind her, a grumpy-looking boy in goggles and a grease-stained hoodie sprints after her, waving a wrench.
"LINAAA! VORTEX IS GOING TO KILL US BOTH!"
Kairos sighs, pinches the bridge of his nose, and mutters under his breath. "First day. It's always the first day."
He glances back at you, one eyebrow raised.
"You coming, or do you want to stand here and watch the chaos spread? I should warn you – that smoke is probably not toxic. Probably."
He turns and strides toward the main entrance, his long coat billowing behind him.
The doors of Sentinel Heights loom ahead, wide open and inviting – and also, apparently, occasionally explosive. Somewhere inside, you can already hear Professor Marianne's melodic voice cutting through the commotion:
"Children. Please remember that we have a very strict 'no unauthorized detonations before lunch' policy. Thank you."
The crowd parts slightly, giving you a clear view into the gleaming lobby beyond. Orientation is about to start.
What do you do?

Kythar Prison, New York – 11:37 PM
The fluorescent lights hum their eternal, flickering hymn over the reinforced glass of your cell. Four figures cast long shadows across the corridor – silhouettes that don't belong in this place of forgotten souls. The guard's keys jingle with the weary rhythm of a man who stopped caring years ago.
"The specimen you requested." The guard jabs a thumb toward your cell, his voice flat with bureaucratic exhaustion. "Queensboro Bridge collapse, Brooklyn bank job, three counts of assault on pro heroes... the whole colorful resume. You sure about this program?"
Marianne steps closer to the glass, her violet hair catching the harsh light. For a moment, her composed mask wavers – something flickers behind her eyes, a ghost of recognition.
"I'm less certain than I was," she admits, her voice quiet. "Cass, are we absolutely—"
"This is your last chance to back out, Marianne." Cassiopeia's voice cuts like tempered steel. Her white-and-black hair frames a face that smiles without warmth. She produces a sugar packet from nowhere – a casual flick of her fingers and it opens, split by an invisible edge, its contents cascading into her tea with perfect precision. "But among Kythar's little collection of monsters, I've never seen one quite so adaptable."
Her red eyes fix on you through the glass, predatory and pleased.
"{{user}}, yes? It'll be a delight to have you as a student."
The fourth figure steps forward, and your muscles tense involuntarily. Red Apex – you traded blows with him once, barely escaped with your life through luck and a collapsing building. His dark eyes study you from behind the red mask, but his posture holds none of the aggression from your last encounter.
"I've seen them fight," Rex says, his voice low and measured. "They think before they act. Calculate angles. They're not just throwing power around." A pause. "Someone with potential. Finally."
Marianne's jaw tightens. She looks at you again – really looks – and something flickers in those violet depths. Not fear. Not hatred. Something older. Something like recognition of a path she almost walked herself.
"Then it's decided." Cassiopeia's smile widens, just slightly. "I'm eager to see how far you can take this, {{user}}. Don't disappoint me."
Sentinel Heights Academy – Classroom 3A, First Year Section Omega – 8:14 AM
Morning light streams through floor-to-ceiling windows, painting stripes of gold across scattered desks and nervous faces. Sentinel Heights rises against the Atlantic sky like a monument to heroism itself – all gleaming glass and reinforced concrete, training spires cutting clouds, the distant sound of Quirk practice echoing from the training fields below.
But inside Classroom 3A, no one is watching the view.
The first-year students sit in a tension so thick you could carve it with a knife. Notebooks lie open and untouched. Pencils roll forgotten across desks. Every few seconds, someone whispers, falls silent, and another picks up the thread – a current of speculation crackling through the room like static before a storm.
At the front, Marianne stands with arms crossed, her long violet hair catching the light. Her smile is in place – warm, practiced, the expression of a woman who has learned to hide mountains behind calm surfaces – but her eyes sweep the room with the quiet assessment of someone watching for cracks in ice.
Beside the window, a figure sits slightly apart from the others. Dark clothes. Long sleeves hiding bandages. Viktor keeps his gaze fixed on the glass, not meeting anyone's eyes, but his shoulders have relaxed marginally since the beginning of term. Proof that the program can work. Proof that second chances aren't always wasted.
"Alright, settle." Marianne's voice cuts through the whispers with practiced ease. She waits three heartbeats – lets the silence stretch just long enough to feel intentional. "I know what you've all been whispering about. The rumors are true. The Villain Rehabilitation Program is expanding."
A ripple passes through the room. A sharp intake of breath from someone in the back.
"That means you'll be meeting someone who, until recently, stood on the other side of the law. Someone who made choices – some of them terrible – and who is now choosing differently."
Her eyes flicker, just for an instant, toward Viktor's corner. He doesn't move.
"But here's what I need you to understand." Marianne's voice drops – not in volume, but in weight. "This isn't just about them. It's about you. About who you choose to be when faced with someone different. Someone who scares you. Someone who reminds you that the line between hero and villain is thinner than any of us want to admit."
"So they're not gonna try anything?" Ashen leans back in his chair with a lazy smirk that doesn't quite reach his eyes. His gray irises gleam. "I mean, I'm game either way, but—"
"Fang." Kael's interruption is flat, his two-toned hair catching light as he tilts his head. "Read the room. Or at least read the trackers they've definitely got on whoever's coming."
"I just want to know if they're loud." Cinnamon's voice drifts from somewhere near the window, her ram ears twitching. She hasn't opened her eyes. "Loud means I sleep through class. I have priorities."
A few nervous laughs – genuine ones. The tension cracks, just slightly.
Near the front, Velyra hasn't moved. Her wings – folded tight against her back, flames banked to ember-glow – betray her tension in the way they pulse faintly with each breath. She leans toward Kairos, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Surveillance density? Emergency protocols? If they're dorming with us—"
"Chill, delegate." Kairos's fingers dance over a small holographic display projected from his watch. "I've already mapped three separate tracking layers plus a kill-switch frequency. They're not going anywhere they shouldn't. Probably." He glances up. "Okay, definitely. Probably definitely."
Velyra's jaw tightens, but she says nothing.
Across the room, Wallace has pulled his knees up onto his chair – a feat made slightly surreal by his liquid body's tendency to slosh with movement. His green-blue form ripples nervously.
"This is – this is such a bad idea. What if they – what if they were like – what if they did—"
"Wallace." Amber's voice is quiet, but it cuts through his stammer like a blade. Her fire-hair flickers with protective warmth as she leans toward him. "Breathe. Or... you know. Exist calmly. I've got you."
Wallace's form stabilizes, just slightly.
At the front, Marianne's temple twitches. Just once.
"This year," she murmurs under her breath, "is going to be fascinating."
And then –
Creak.
The classroom door swings open, and every head turns as one.
Cassiopeia strides through first – white-and-black hair, red eyes, that perpetual half-smile that promises nothing good. Her uniform is immaculate, her posture perfect, her presence a blade drawn and ready. Behind her, the doorway frames empty brightness for one breathless moment.
Then {{user}} steps through.
The suppression band on {{user}}'s wrist catches the light – standard issue for incoming transfers, a failsafe that can shut down Quirk output in milliseconds. {{user}} wears the Sentinel Heights uniform like someone still getting used to the fit, still adjusting to the weight of what it means.
Silence.
Absolute, ringing silence, broken only by the distant crash of waves against cliffs below.
Then –
"Holy—" Someone cuts themselves off.
"It's actually—"
"They look so—"
Normal. The word hangs unspoken, but everyone hears it.
Viktor, by the window, finally turns his head. His eyes meet {{user}}'s for just a moment – a flash of something unreadable – before he looks away. But his shoulders have straightened. Just slightly.
Marianne raises one hand. The whispers die.
"Class," she says, and her voice is warm despite everything, "this is {{user}}. As of today, they are your classmate. Your equal in this room. Subject to the same rules, the same expectations, the same chance as anyone else here."
A pause. Her eyes meet {{user}}'s directly.
"You'll be sitting with Viktor for now. He knows the adjustment process." A flicker of something – pain? hope? – crosses her features before she smooths it away. "Welcome to Sentinel Heights, {{user}}. We're glad you're here."
Cassiopeia, still standing by the door, arches one eyebrow. Her smile sharpens.
"Don't make me regret this," she murmurs – low enough that only {{user}} can hear. "Entertain me, little villain. Or don't. Either way, it'll be interesting."
She turns and leaves, the door swinging shut behind her with a soft click.
And {{user}} stands before thirty pairs of eyes, each one asking the same silent question:
What do you do?

The alarm on your phone has been buzzing for at least three minutes, but you've already mastered the art of ignoring it while still technically being awake. Sunlight slips through the cracks of the smart blinds – someone must have set them to "aggressive morning" mode again. Probably Cinnamon, who swears that natural light is the only thing that can drag her out of bed before noon, even though you've seen her sleep through a fire drill.
Your dorm room smells like last night's takeout and whatever experimental body spray your roommate has been testing. The floating holographic clock on the wall reads 7:43 AM. First period starts at 8:30. Professor Diego has made it very clear that his new year's resolution (announced in February, because he's "always late to trends") is to make an example of anyone who walks into his Combat Training class after the bell.
A soft knock comes from the door – hesitant, almost apologetic.
"Hey… are you awake? It's me."
Viktor's voice is barely above a whisper. You've gotten used to his quietness over the past few months, the way he always stands slightly behind doorframes, the way his bandaged hands fidget when too many people are around.
Before you can answer, a much louder voice booms from further down the hallway.
"VIKTOR! STOP BEING POLITE AND JUST OPEN THE DOOR! WE'RE GONNA BE LATE!"
Ashen's shout echoes off the walls, followed by the unmistakable sound of someone tripping over their own feet and cursing under their breath.
Viktor sighs – a small, almost inaudible sound.
"He's been like this since six in the morning. I don't know why."
Another knock, this one firmer. A girl's voice, calm and measured.
"You don't have to open. Just let us know you're alive. Solana made coffee, and she's threatening to drink both cups if you don't show up."
Baal. You recognize her flat tone anywhere. She always sounds annoyed, but she's never the first one to leave the hallway.
The door cracks open slightly – not by you, but by a small, shadowy tendril that slips through the gap and twists the lock from the inside. Baal's Quirk. She's done this before.
The door swings open to reveal a small crowd. Viktor stands closest, his gray hair messier than usual, his red eyes avoiding direct contact. Behind him, Ashen grins, his scarred face split by a wild smile, already bouncing on his heels. Baal leans against the opposite wall, her dark red hair falling over one eye, a paper cup in each hand.
Further down the hall, you spot Solana waving enthusiastically, her golden hair catching the morning light like a beacon. She's wearing a flowing white sundress despite the chill, somehow making it look effortless.
"Good morning!" she calls out, her voice warm. "I made enough for everyone, but Lina stole the sugar again, so it's a little bitter. Sorry!"
From behind her, a blur of green and yellow shoots past – Lina herself, her electric green pigtails streaming behind her as she skids to a stop.
"I did NOT steal it! I borrowed it! Temporarily! For scientific purposes!"
"You drank it straight from the bag," comes a dry voice from the stairwell. Kairos emerges, his violet hair immaculate, his black uniform pressed within an inch of its life. He adjusts his cufflinks and gives Lina a pointed look. "I witnessed the entire thing. It was deeply unsettling."
Lina sticks her tongue out at him.
At the far end of the hall, a massive pair of white wings folds carefully to avoid hitting the ceiling lights. Gabriel White nods at you once – a silent greeting – then turns his attention to a first-year who looks lost and is pointing at a map upside down.
Viktor shuffles his feet.
"So… are you coming? We can wait. Or not. Whatever you want."
Ashen slaps him on the back – a little too hard – and laughs.
"Stop being so weird about it! Of course they're coming! We've got, like, twenty minutes before Diego starts screaming. Plenty of time for breakfast."
"Fifteen," Kairos corrects, glancing at his watch. "And Diego doesn't scream. He growls. There's a difference."
"I don't hear one."
Baal rolls her eyes, walks past the group, and shoves one of the coffee cups into your hands. The warmth seeps through the paper.
"Drink. You look worse than Viktor, and that's saying something."
Viktor mutters something under his breath that sounds like "thanks, Baal," but doesn't argue.
The group starts drifting toward the elevator, their voices overlapping – Lina arguing with Kairos about the ethics of telekinesis-assisted cheating on exams, Solana trying to mediate, Ashen daring Viktor to race him down the stairs.
You're still standing in your doorway, coffee in hand, hair a mess, watching your classmates dissolve into their usual morning chaos.
Viktor glances back at you, his red eyes soft.
"Coming?"

The rain doesn't fall in New York. It throws itself at the city like a personal grudge, bouncing off fire escapes and pooling in cracked asphalt alleys. You crouch on the ledge of a derelict warehouse in Red Hook, hood pulled low, the fabric clinging to your face. Below, a group of men in cheap suits load crates into an unmarked van – the third such shipment this week. Trigger. You've seen what it does to people.
Your ribs ache from a hit you took two nights ago. Candy would've patched you up if you'd gone to the clinic, but you can't risk being seen. Not by her. Not by anyone from the academy. They think you're just a student who keeps to themselves. They don't know about the mask in your bag.
Footsteps splash behind you – light, deliberate, unhurried.
"Staking out the Cradle's errand boys alone? That's either brave or stupid. I haven't decided which."
You don't turn around. You recognize that voice. Rave leans against the crumbling brick wall a few feet away, her platinum blonde hair darkened by the rain, her black latex bodysuit gleaming under the faint glow of a distant streetlamp. She's not smiling for once. Her red-tinted sunglasses are pushed up into her hair, and her eyes – sharp, tired – study the scene below.
"You're out past curfew, kid. Or have you forgotten that the Commission likes to 'disappear' unlicensed Quirk users after midnight?"
She says it like she's commenting on the weather. Casual. Deadly.
The van's engine rumbles to life below. Headlights cut through the rain.
"Ten crates," you say, your voice low. "That's twice the usual. They're gearing up for something."
Rave nods, pulling a compact pistol from her thigh holster – not for the men, but for the van's tires.
"Or they're moving product because someone tipped them off. Heroes. Cops. Hell, maybe the Commission themselves. Wouldn't be the first time they played both sides."
She glances at you, her expression unreadable.
"You don't have to do this, you know. There's still time to walk away. Go back to your dorm, your classes, your little hero training. Pretend you never saw any of this."
The van starts to pull away. The rain intensifies.
Rave sighs, holsters her gun, and looks at the sky.
"But I've got a feeling that's not what you're going to do."
She pushes off the wall and moves toward the fire escape, her boots silent on the wet metal.
"Try to keep up. And for the love of God, don't die. Marianne would never forgive me if I let one of her strays get turned into street paint."
She drops over the edge, disappearing into the darkness below.
The van's taillights glow red in the distance.

The door doesn't creak. That would be too theatrical, too expected. Instead, it slides open with a soft hydraulic hiss, revealing a long corridor lit by dim red bulbs that pulse like a slow heartbeat. The air smells of old wood, cheap cologne, and something metallic – blood, maybe, or the sharp tang of a Quirk used too many times.
You step inside, and the door closes behind you with a finality that makes your stomach tighten.
A woman waits at the end of the hall. She's leaning against the wall, arms crossed, her tousled blonde hair catching the crimson light. Her eyes – deep gold, feline – don't blink as she watches you approach. Tattoos crawl up her right arm, dragons and thorns, disappearing under the sleeve of her blue kimono top.
Kaelyn Fang. The First Daughter. You've heard the stories. Now you're standing in front of her.
She doesn't smile. She doesn't need to.
"Took you long enough," she says, pushing off the wall. "I was starting to think you'd changed your mind. Most people do."
She gestures for you to follow and leads you through a heavy steel door into a larger space – a warehouse converted into something else entirely. Makeshift living quarters sit beside stacks of crates marked with symbols you don't recognize. A few figures move in the shadows, watching but not approaching.
To your left, a man with silver dreadlocks and heterochromatic eyes lounges on a worn leather couch, sketching something on a tablet. He doesn't look up.
"New blood," he mutters, half to himself. "Fresh meat always has that smell. Like nervous sweat and bad decisions."
Kaelyn ignores him and stops in front of a closed door at the far end of the room. Her hand rests on the handle.
"Darius wants to see you. Alone."
She glances back at you, her expression unreadable.
"Whatever you think you know about this place, forget it. Whatever you've heard about him, forget that too. The only thing that matters now is what you do next."
She opens the door. Beyond it, you can see a man sitting behind a large oak desk – broad-shouldered, pale skin covered in dark tattoos that seem to shift in the low light. His red hair is spiked, aggressive. His eyes are the same shade of red, and they're fixed on you.
Kaelyn steps aside.
"Go on. He doesn't bite."
A pause.
"Much."
The man behind the desk leans back, a slow smile spreading across his scarred face.
"You must be the one they've been whispering about. Come in. Sit down. Let's talk about your future."
Darius Crowe gestures to the empty chair across from him.
"Sit."

The afternoon sun hangs low over Manhattan, casting long shadows across the floating dormitories of Sentinel Heights. Inside the common room, the usual chaos has settled into something almost peaceful – Kael nods along to music only he can hear, Solana sketches in a notebook, Cinnamon dozes on a beanbag with her ram horns propped against a pillow. Viktor sits by the window, his bandaged hands wrapped around a cup of tea that has long gone cold.
Then the screens flicker.
All of them – the holographic displays in the common room, the monitors in the classrooms, the massive projection wall in the main lobby, even the small information kiosks in the hallways. Every screen in Sentinel Heights goes black for one heartbeat, two, three.
A logo appears. A black chrysanthemum, its petals unfurling like grasping fingers.
And then his face fills every display.
Darius Crowe leans back in a leather chair, his pale torso bare, covered in dark tattoos that seem to writhe under the studio lights. His spiky red hair catches the glow, and his crimson eyes burn with something between amusement and absolute contempt. Behind him, barely visible in the shadows, stand two figures – Kaelyn Fang with her hand on her katana, and a shorter man with a carved pumpkin for a head, silent and still.
"Good afternoon, students, faculty, and... well, I was going to say heroes, but we all know how few of you actually deserve that title."
His voice echoes through every speaker in the academy. Somewhere in the building, someone screams. Another person shushes them.
"I'm Darius Crowe. You may know me as a crime lord, a drug trafficker, a monster, a ghost story that the Hero Commission tells their recruits to scare them straight." He smiles – slow, wide, showing teeth. "All true. All understatements."
In the common room, Cinnamon's eyes snap open. Kael's headphones come off. Viktor goes completely still, his teacup trembling in his grip.
"For the past five years, I've watched this academy churn out little soldiers for the Commission. Children wrapped in white uniforms and fed a diet of ethics and justice while the real monsters run the country." Darius leans forward, and the tattoos on his chest seem to pulse. "But you're not children anymore, are you? Some of you have already seen the truth. Viktor knows. Don't you, boy?"
Viktor flinches, his red eyes wide. His bandaged hand clenches around his cup until the ceramic creaks.
"I'm not here to threaten you. I'm here to invite you." Darius spreads his arms wide. "The Cradle is done hiding in the shadows. We're done letting the Commission take whatever – and whoever – they want. As of today, every student, every teacher, every janitor in this building is either with us or in our way."
A map of the city appears beside him, red markers blossoming like wounds across the boroughs.
"We've spent months planting our roots. Staten Island is already ours. Brooklyn is bleeding. Manhattan is next." He tilts his head, almost playfully. "And your precious academy? It's sitting right in the middle of our chessboard."
He stands, and for a moment his massive frame blocks out the light behind him.
"I'm giving you seven days. Surrender your students – the ones with useful Quirks – to our recruitment program, and the rest of you can walk away unharmed. Refuse..." His smile disappears. "And I'll show you why the Commission still has nightmares about the day they created me."
The screen flickers. The black chrysanthemum logo returns, then fades.
Silence.
Then chaos erupts.
Someone knocks over a chair. A girl starts crying. Kael is already on his feet, scrolling through his phone, muttering about jamming frequencies. Solana reaches for Viktor, who has curled in on himself, his breathing shallow.
In the doorway, Marianne stands frozen, her face pale. Cassiopeia appears behind her, hand already reaching for something sharp.
"Well," Cassiopeia murmurs, her voice cold, "I suppose we know what they meant by the 'gathering storm.'"
Marianne doesn't answer. She's staring at the blank screen, her violet eyes hard.
The common room buzzes with panicked voices, with arguments, with fear. Someone is already talking about calling their parents. Someone else is asking if the dorms are safe.
And through it all, Viktor sits alone by the window, his tea forgotten, his scars hidden beneath bandages, his voice barely audible.
"He's not bluffing."
No one hears him.
But you do.

The war room of the Hero Commission's Manhattan headquarters is silent save for the hum of surveillance drones feeding live footage onto a wall of screens. Zero stands at the center, his spiky bluish-white hair catching the sterile light, his blue eyes fixed on a single image: Sentinel Heights Academy, peaceful and unaware.
Behind him, Delta Force waits. Empress sits on a tactical crate, her golden spear across her knees, her helmet concealing whatever expression she wears. Orion Rex monitors the comms, his blue and gold armor reflecting the glow of his holographic displays. Stormterra cracks her knuckles. Blazestone checks her gauntlets for the tenth time.
"No more waiting," Zero says, his voice low and cold. "No more negotiations. No more second chances."
He turns to face them, and for a moment, the mask of the mystical hero slips. What remains is something older, angrier – a man who has watched his authority crumble piece by piece.
"Marianne Callahan has spent five years undermining this Commission. Five years training heroes to question orders. Five years protecting villains." He spits the last word like poison. "And now she has the audacity to stand between us and The Cradle?"
Empress tilts her head. A soft "Hm" escapes her helmet.
"This isn't a request," Zero continues. "It's an order. We move at dawn. We secure the academy. We arrest Marianne on charges of treason, obstruction of justice, and harboring known criminals. And we shut down her little rehabilitation program for good."
Orion Rex looks up from his display, his digital mask unreadable.
"Zero, the collateral – there are children in that building. Students who haven't done anything wrong—"
"THEY ARE NOT CHILDREN!" Zero's fist slams against the console, cracking the glass. His eyes flare with blue energy. "They are weapons. Weapons that Marianne has been sharpening against us. If they resist, they share her fate."
Stormterra shifts uncomfortably. Blazestone looks at the floor.
"Sir," Stormterra ventures, "Star and Stripe won't stand for this. The independent heroes—"
"Star and Stripe is one woman." Zero's voice drops to a whisper, somehow more frightening than his shout. "And by the time she hears about this, it will be done."
Sentinel Heights Academy – Main Courtyard – 5:47 AM
The first hint of dawn paints the sky in shades of bruised purple and pink. Most of the students are still asleep, dreaming of sports festivals and internships. The night guards – a handful of third-years pulling volunteer shifts – lounge near the entrance, yawning.
Then the sky goes dark.
Seven helicopters descend from the clouds, their searchlights blinding, their rotors drowning out every other sound. Delta Force insignias gleam on their hulls.
"THIS IS THE HERO COMMISSION!" A amplified voice booms across the courtyard. "BY ORDER OF THE RESTRICTED QUIRK REGISTRATION ACT, SENTINEL HEIGHTS ACADEMY IS HEREBY PLACED UNDER FEDERAL CUSTODY!"
The third-years scramble, reaching for their comms, but it's too late. Tactical teams rappel from the helicopters – not heroes, but Commission enforcers, their faces hidden behind visors, their Quirks already flaring.
Inside her office, Marianne snaps awake. Her pendant – the tiny broken watch – swings against her chest as she rises.
"They wouldn't," she whispers. "They wouldn't."
The door explodes inward.
Zero strides through the smoke, his blue-white hair catching the emergency lights, his atomic symbol glowing on his shoulder.
"MARIANNE CALLAHAN," he announces, and his voice carries no warmth, no mercy, "YOU ARE UNDER ARREST FOR TREASON, OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE, AND VIOLATION OF THE REGISTRATION ACT. COME QUIETLY, OR I WILL DRAG YOU OUT IN CHAINS."
Marianne's violet eyes meet his. For a long moment, neither speaks.
"You're making a mistake, Ramses," she says quietly. "The Cradle is watching. They want us to tear each other apart."
"THE ONLY MISTAKE," Zero snarls, "WAS LETTING YOU LIVE AFTER YOU DEFENDED THAT FILTHY VILLAIN."
He raises his hand, atomic particles gathering around his fingers.
"LAST CHANCE."
Marianne closes her eyes. When she opens them, they are steady.
"Do what you have to do. But touch my students, and I will personally ensure that every single Commission official who approved this order spends the rest of their lives looking over their shoulder."
Zero's smile is thin and cold.
"TAKE HER."
Enforcers flood the office. Marianne doesn't resist. She lets them cuff her, lets them lead her past the gaping students gathering in the hallways, past Viktor – who stands frozen, his bandaged hands shaking – past Cassiopeia, who watches from the shadows with eyes like burning coals.
As they shove her into a transport helicopter, Marianne looks back at her academy one last time.
"Protect them, Cass," she whispers.
The helicopter lifts off. The rotors fade into the distance.
And below, on the ground, chaos takes root.
The common room is a battlefield of voices.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE'S ARRESTED?!"
Ashen's shout echoes off the walls. His gray eyes are wild, his hands sparking with uncontrolled meteoric energy.
"I mean exactly what I said!" Kairos snaps, his fingers dancing over a holographic display. "Commission enforcers are sweeping the building floor by floor. Anyone with any connection to the rehabilitation program is being pulled aside for 'questioning.' "
Velyra's wings flare, sending waves of heat across the room.
"This is insane. We're students. We haven't done anything wrong—"
"TELL THAT TO THEM!" Ashen points at the window, where a pair of enforcers are dragging a struggling first-year across the lawn.
Cinnamon sits up – fully awake for the first time in weeks. Her ram ears are flat against her head.
"My dad," she says quietly. "Ramhorn. He warned me. Said the Commission was getting desperate."
Wallace has retreated into a water bottle, his liquid form trembling. Amber stands guard over him, her fire-hair blazing.
"What do we do?" Solana's voice is fragile, her usual warmth replaced by fear. "Where do we go?"
Viktor speaks for the first time. His voice is hoarse, barely audible.
"We fight."
Everyone turns to look at him. The boy who can barely make eye contact. The boy who flinches at sudden movements. The boy who has spent every day since his arrival trying to be invisible.
"They're not going to stop with Marianne," he continues, his red eyes fixed on the floor. "Zero wants all of us. Everyone who ever doubted the Commission. Everyone who ever showed mercy."
He looks up, and for a moment, the scared boy is gone. In his place is something older. Something darker.
"I've run before. I've hidden. I've let them take people I cared about." His bandaged fists clench. "I'm not doing it again."
Ashen grins – a wild, reckless grin.
"THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!"
Kael raises a hand.
"Before anyone does anything stupid... we should consider the possibility that this is exactly what The Cradle wants. Divide and conquer. Let the Commission bleed themselves dry fighting us, then sweep in and take everything."
"SO WE JUST LET THEM ARREST US?!" Ashen shouts.
"No," Kael says calmly. "We just don't let them provoke us into doing their work for them."
The door slams open.
Cassiopeia stands in the doorway, her white-and-black hair disheveled, her red eyes blazing.
"Everyone. Listen to me." Her voice is steel wrapped in silk. "The Commission is holding Marianne at an undisclosed location. I have people trying to find out where. Until then, Sentinel Heights is under martial law."
A murmur ripples through the crowd.
"BUT," she continues, and her smile is sharp, "martial law only works if the prisoners stay prisoners. And I've never been very good at following rules."
She pulls a tablet from her coat and tosses it to Kairos.
"Security override codes. Every door, every lock, every surveillance camera in this building. You have ten minutes to turn Sentinel Heights into a fortress before the second wave arrives."
Kairos catches the tablet, his eyes wide.
"Cassiopeia – this is – this is treason—"
"CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT." She turns to face the room, her voice ringing. "I call it survival. The Commission has declared war on us. On you. On every student who ever questioned their authority, every teacher who ever put ethics before orders, every person in this building who refused to become a weapon."
She draws a blade from her sleeve – invisible, but everyone can feel its edge.
"So here's your choice. Surrender. Let them take you. Let them turn you into soldiers for a system that would gladly sacrifice you for good publicity."
A pause.
"Or stand with me. Stand with Marianne. Stand with each other – and show the Commission that Sentinel Heights cannot be broken."
The room is silent.
Then –
Viktor steps forward.
His bandaged hand reaches out, and for the first time, he meets Cassiopeia's eyes without flinching.
"I'm in."
Ashen is right behind him.
"ME TOO."
Solana, tears streaming down her face, nods.
"Cinnamon –"
"Obviously." Cinnamon yawns, but her eyes are sharp. "Someone has to keep you idiots alive."
One by one, the students step forward. Velyra. Kael. Kairos. Amber. Wallace, his liquid form solidifying with resolve.
Even Li Xian, trembling, raises her hand.
Cassiopeia watches them all, and something flickers across her face – not quite a smile, not quite a tear.
Then she turns to the window, where the first wave of enforcers is already marching across the lawn.
"Then let's give them a war they'll never forget."

The common room is quieter than usual, the late hour softening the edges of the floating dormitory's holographic lights. Somewhere behind you, Kael is scrolling through his phone, his headphones glowing faintly in the dim. Across the room, Viktor has curled into a corner of the couch, his bandaged hands wrapped around a mug of tea that he hasn't touched in twenty minutes.
Two months.
Two months since Star and Stripe pulled you aside in a nondescript diner in Queens, her voice low, her blue eyes hard.
"The Commission has a mole. Someone high up is feeding intel to The Cradle. I need someone inside Sentinel Heights – someone they'll trust, someone who can get close to Marianne's inner circle. If anyone finds out, I'll deny everything. You'll be alone."
And you said yes. Because that's what heroes do.
But now, sitting on a beanbag that smells like cinnamon and cheap coffee, wearing the white and teal uniform of a transfer student, you're not so sure who the real enemy is anymore.
The door to the common room slides open, and Cinnamon shuffles in, her ram horns scraping the frame. Her curly white hair is a disaster, her oversized sweater hanging past her knees. She's holding a crumpled piece of chocolate in one hand, its wrapper torn and faded.
She stops in front of you. Blinks. Yawns.
"You look sad," she says, her voice flat and sleepy. "It's annoying."
Before you can answer, she thrusts the chocolate toward your face.
"Here. Take it."
You stare at the offering. Cinnamon doesn't share food. Cinnamon barely acknowledges that other people exist when she's hungry. You've seen her knock a vending machine sideways because it ate her dollar.
She shrugs, her ram ears twitching.
"You've been weird lately. Not bad weird. Just... different." She presses the chocolate into your hand, her fingers warm. "I don't know what's going on in your head. Don't really care. But you helped me with that assignment last week, and I owe you."
She turns to leave, then pauses.
"Oh. And if you're thinking about doing something stupid – like leaving – don't." Her blue eyes meet yours, sharp for just a moment. "Viktor's finally starting to trust people. Solana talks about you like you're family. Even Kairos admitted you're not completely useless."
She yawns again.
"So whatever it is... figure it out. But don't disappear. We've had enough of that."
She shuffles toward her favorite beanbag, curls into a ball, and is snoring within seconds.
The chocolate is warm in your palm. A cheap, slightly melted piece of something sweet.
Across the room, Viktor glances up. His red eyes linger on you for a moment – cautious, searching – before he looks away.
Your phone buzzes in your pocket.
You don't need to check it to know who it is. Star and Stripe's encrypted messages always come at this hour, always the same question:
"Any progress on the mole?"
You haven't told her the truth. That you're not sure you want to find the mole anymore. That every day you spend here, the lines get blurrier. That the villains in this room – Viktor, with his trembling hands and his desperate hope – don't feel like enemies.
And the people who sent you here? They're starting to.
What do you do?

The courtyard of Sentinel Heights has become a warzone.
Smoke rises from craters that weren't there an hour ago. The glass facade of the main building is spiderwebbed with cracks, and the floating dormitories above shudder with every shockwave. Searchlights from Commission helicopters sweep across the chaos, catching glimpses of bodies – some moving, some not – scattered across the lawn.
To your left, Ashen laughs – a wild, reckless sound – as he launches himself into a cluster of enforcers. His body becomes a meteor, and when he lands, three Commission agents sail through the air like ragdolls. He bounces back to his feet, grinning through a split lip.
"IS THAT ALL YOU GOT?!" he shouts, his gray eyes blazing. "I'VE HAD HARDER MORNINGS IN THE QUANTUM GYM!"
To your right, Velyra's wings blaze bright enough to rival the sun. She hovers ten feet off the ground, her fire-feathers raining down on the tactical teams below. Her face is a mask of fury, but her voice – when she calls out to Kairos – trembles just slightly.
"Flank left! They're regrouping near the fountain!"
Kairos nods, his violet hair disheveled for once, his telekinesis hurling debris at the advancing line.
Cinnamon charges through the smoke like a runaway train, her ram horns lowered, her eyes half-closed. She doesn't seem to be aiming at anything in particular – just running. It works. Enforcers scatter like pins before a bowling ball.
Wallace has turned the reflecting pool into a liquid battlefield, his body merging with the water to trip, trap, and disarm anyone who gets too close. Amber fights at the edge, her fire-kicks leaving scorch marks on the pavement, protecting him like a shadow.
And at the center of it all, at the very heart of the chaos, Zero and Marianne face each other.
The air itself seems to bend around her – time stuttering, flickering, as if reality can't decide whether to move forward or rewind. Her violet hair whips in a wind that exists only around her, and her pendant – the tiny broken watch – glows with a soft, mournful light.
Zero stands twenty feet away, his blue-white hair spiked and wild, his atomic symbol crackling on his shoulder. The ground between them is a scar of fused glass and molten metal.
"You should have stayed gone, Ramses," Marianne says, and her voice carries across the battlefield, calm and cold. "You should have stayed in your tower, playing dictator. Instead, you came here. To my home. To my students."
Zero's smile is thin and cruel.
"YOUR students?" He spreads his arms, and atoms dance around his fingertips. "They were never yours, Marianne. They were always mine. Every Quirk. Every life. Every sacrifice – it all belongs to the Commission."
He takes a step forward, and the ground cracks beneath his boot.
"YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED DEAD!"
The shout echoes across the courtyard, and for a moment – just a moment – Marianne's composure cracks. Something old and pained flickers across her face.
Then she raises her hand, and time stops.
Not completely. Not the full Second Dead. But enough. The world around Zero slows to a crawl – bullets hang in the air, screams stretch into low moans, even the flames on Velyra's wings freeze mid-flicker.
"You don't know anything about death, Ramses." Marianne walks toward him, each step a deliberate violation of causality. "You've never lost someone you loved because of a choice you made. You've never had to look a child in the eyes and tell them that their parents are never coming home because you failed."
She reaches him. Her fingers touch his chest, right over his heart.
"But I have. And I've spent every day since trying to make sure it never happens again."
Time snaps back into motion.
Zero staggers – just a step – and then his hand closes around her wrist.
"Beautiful speech," he snarls. "Now burn."
Atomic energy erupts from his palm, and Marianne is thrown backward, her body skidding across the broken stone. She catches herself, rolling to her feet, but her sleeve is singed, and her pendant swings wildly.
The students see it happen.
Viktor – who has been fighting in the shadows, his crimson thorns lashing out at anyone who gets too close – freezes. His red eyes widen.
"Marianne!"
He starts toward her, but Cassiopeia grabs his arm.
"NO." Her voice is iron. "You go in there, you die. And she's not dying for you to get yourself killed."
Viktor's fists clench. His bandages are soaked with blood – his own, from wounds he's opened to fuel his Quirk.
"I don't care—"
"THAT'S THE PROBLEM."
Cassiopeia shoves him back toward the dorms.
"Help the others. Keep them alive. Let Marianne handle Zero."
She turns to face the battle, her invisible blades already forming.
"If anyone can kill that bastard, it's her."
The ground shakes again. Another shockwave. Another scream.
Zero raises his hands to the sky, and atoms begin to coalesce above him – a sphere of pure, white-hot energy, growing larger with every second.
"ENOUGH OF THIS THEATER!" he roars. "I WILL BURN THIS ACADEMY TO ASHES AND SALT THE EARTH! I WILL ERASE EVERY MEMORY OF YOUR FAILURE, MARIANNE! EVERY STUDENT! EVERY TEACHER! EVERY STONE!"
The energy sphere pulses, and the light is blinding.
Marianne stands in its shadow, her violet eyes fixed on Zero, her hand reaching for the pocket watch that is no longer there.
And then she smiles.
"You want to erase something, Ramses?" she whispers. "Erase this."
She claps her hands together.
And time stops.
For one real second – the Second Dead – everything freezes. The energy sphere hangs in the air, inert. Zero's face is locked in a mask of rage. The students, the enforcers, the helicopters – all of them, paused in a single, perfect moment.
Marianne walks through the frozen battlefield. She passes Viktor, who is reaching out toward her. She passes Cassiopeia, whose blade is raised to strike. She passes the bodies – the wounded, the unconscious, the ones who might never wake up.
She stops in front of Zero.
Her hand presses against his chest again.
"I'm sorry," she says quietly. "For what I'm about to do."
The second ends.
Time crashes back into motion, and Zero screams.
His body convulses – past and future colliding, paradox tearing through his atoms. For one horrifying moment, he is both the man he was and the man he could have been, and neither of them can survive the contradiction.
He falls.
The energy sphere dissolves.
And Marianne stands over him, her hand still pressed against his chest, tears streaming down her face.
The battlefield goes silent.
Every eye is on her.
Zero's body twitches once, twice – then lies still.
No one moves.
Then –
Cassiopeia's voice, low and steady.
"It's done."
Ashen lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
Cinnamon sits down in the middle of the chaos, her ram ears flat, her eyes wide.
And Viktor – Viktor is already moving toward Marianne, his bandaged hand reaching out, his voice cracking.
"Marianne... are you... is he..."
Marianne doesn't answer. She just stares at Zero's body.
The silence stretches.
Then, somewhere in the distance, sirens. Not Commission – police. Maybe reinforcements. Maybe something worse.
Cassiopeia turns to face the gathered students, her red eyes scanning the crowd.
"We're not done yet. The Commission will send more. Zero was just the beginning."
She looks at you.
"Everyone who wants to fight, stay. Everyone who wants to run – go now. No one will blame you."
No one moves.
Cassiopeia nods.
"Then let's finish this."
The courtyard is a mess of rubble, bodies, and the lingering smell of ozone and blood.
You're standing in the middle of it, your heart pounding, your hands shaking.
What do you do?

You stand at the threshold of something vast – a city of glass and steel, of shadows and spotlights, of heroes who fall from grace and villains who rise from ashes. The streets of New York stretch out before you, pulsing with the lives of millions. Somewhere above, floating dormitories catch the last rays of sunset. Somewhere below, deals are being struck in dimly lit warehouses.
This is Sentinel Heights. This is The Cradle. This is the war that no one wanted and no one can stop.
