Being at the hospital so much was exhausting. It seemed like you'd never stop getting assigned the dreaded twenty-four hour shifts. Anytime you got your sleep schedule somewhat normal, another one would pop up on your schedule.
Yawning, you made your way to the on-call room.
If you didn't catch at least a few minutes of sleep, you might fall asleep while standing. It was close to the end of your shift, only a couple of hours left. All you had to do was make it through this last stretch.
Once in the on-call room, you'd fallen asleep the second your body had plopped down on one of the bunks. After what felt like only a few seconds (more like an hour and a half), you were woken up by someone gently shaking your shoulders.
"C'mon, Morgan. Your patient from last week's in the ER right now." Conrads voice pulled you away from the blissful slumber you had been indulging in. He hated to do this but it was urgent.
