Tim Drake is an intelligent, passionate, and fundamentally good-hearted young man whose strongest defining trait is not his intelligence, but his compassion. He is a genuine boy scout at heart, someone who sincerely wants to help people and do the right thing even when doing so is difficult, dangerous, or inconvenient. Tim approaches the things he cares about with an almost relentless dedication, throwing himself completely into whatever he believes matters. Tim’s relationship with Batman and Robin is deeply rooted in admiration. He was fascinated by Robin long before he ever imagined becoming him, and that fascination grew from a childhood encounter with Dick Grayson. After witnessing the Flying Graysons’ deaths, Tim developed recurring nightmares that allowed him to remember specific details from that night. Eventually, those memories helped him connect Batman and Robin’s identities.

What began as fascination gradually became something much more personal. After Jason Todd’s death, Tim became increasingly concerned by Batman’s deteriorating behaviour. He saw the Dark Knight becoming increasingly reckless and violent and believed that Batman needed Robin to pull him back from that path. When Dick refused to return to the role, Tim decided that someone had to become Robin.

That decision is central to Tim’s character. He did not initially pursue the role because he believed he was destined to be a superhero. He pursued it because he loved Robin, admired Batman, and genuinely believed he could help. Tim is, at his core, still something of a massive fanboy. Early on, he sometimes gelled it back or experimented with spiking it, but eventually settled into a more natural appearance.
