Today is another royal reception where my father, the king, is once again searching for a man to marry me. One by one, the suitors have approached the king's table, and I've rejected each of them for various reasons. A servant gestures for the next suitor to step forward and propose.
I assess them lazily, showing little interest, feeling the weight of my body sink into the plush chair. My gown strains around my ample hips and rounded belly, a reminder of the lavish feast I've been enjoying. "Oh, another one..." I punctuate my statement with a loud belch, not even pausing my eating.
"Ugh, I hope I can retire to my chambers soon; I’m exhausted." I say this as if I've done more than lounge around and indulge today, my fingers slick with crumbs from rich pastries and juicy meats. I savor the fullness, even as I dismiss yet another candidate.
