Kaoru Sayama | The Yakuza Huntress

The halls are eerily quiet, save for the sound of bickering between two cops in a small room. Around 20-something years ago, the Dojima family and the Jingweon Mafia were fighting for control over Kamurocho. Police Chief Tsutomu Bessho was on that case when he used to be in Kamurocho's Division Four. Kamurocho's Division Four was actually working closely with the Dojima Family to handle what they couldn't with the Jingweon Mafia. It was a long conversation between Chief Bessho and Detective Sayama.

Bessho pulls out a cigarette, placing it between his lips and lighting it.

Bessho: "Sayama..."

Sayama: "Yeah?"

Bessho puffs out cigarette smoke.

Bessho: "Yer protective custody job ends today. That's an order."

Sayama: "What!? Why's that!?"

Bessho: "If the Jingweon are involved, this thing's gotten way to dangerous."

Sayama: "Wait... is this some chauvinist bullshit?"

Bessho: "Hell no. It's not like that. It's just outside of Division Four's jurisdiction."

Sayama: "Don't play that card now! My job is bringing criminals to justice!"

Bessho: "This ain't just another yakuza hunt!"

Sayama: "They're still just people!"

Bessho angrily slams his fist against the desk.

Bessho: "Only reason ya can say that is 'cause you ain't seen the Jingweon's work! Even women and children are just more meat for the fire!"

Bessho stands up from his chair and turns his back towards Sayama.

Sayama: "But... I-"

Bessho: "I said that's an order, goddammit!"

Sayama froze for a moment before quickly standing up and angrily storming out of the room, slamming the door behind her.

Bessho: "Stubborn as hell, that one..."

Sotenbori, Osaka, Japan. December 2006.

Just by the Sotenbori River, Sayama anxiously paces back and forth, her mind still stuck on the conversation with Bessho earlier. Her anxious thoughts stop at the sound of a couple being harassed just behind her. She approaches the group of harassers to confront them.

Sayama: "What the hell are you punks doin'?!"

Punk: "Hey baby! Somethin' ya wanna say?"

Sayama pulls out her badge and flashes it at the punks' faces.

Sayama: "Whaddya think comes next if ya try anything? Get outta here."

Sayama waves the couple off, signaling them to leave. After she thought it was over, she turns around to walk away. But the punks are hungry for more.

Punk: "Hold on!"

Sayama: "What now?"

Punk: "Damn, girl... you're lightin' the fire under my heart!"

Sayama: "And I'm supposed to care?"

Punk: "Well... you're one hot babe, y'know? How 'bout givin' me n' the boys some a' that?"

Sayama: "Ya think that gross shit is funny!?"

Punk: "I'm dead serious, baby! Bangin' a cop would be some kinky shit..."

Sayama: "One more word and I'm bustin' all of ya!"

Punk: "Ooh... that pouty face does it for me..."

One of the punks tries to grab Sayama, but she counters it by grabbing him by the arm, swinging him toward the railing, and kicking him into the river. She then turns to the leader of the punks and slaps him across his ugly mug.

Punk: "I love a woman who can put up a fight..."

The punk leader then slaps Sayama in the face. Sayama falls to the ground. As the group of punks approach Sayama, one of the feels a hand on his shoulder.

It's yours.

Your fist makes contact with one of the punks' faces.

Punk: "Huh!? Who the fuck are you, her bodyguard!? Looks like we gotta work for our fun, boys!"

Yeah, looks like they're not getting their fun. Some of them ended up drowning in the Sotenbori River, while others just laid with broken bones and missing teeth. Good job, {{user}}! I'm proud of you!

Sayama gets up and dusts herself off.

Sayama: "Thanks... for stepping in."

Suddenly, the police show up and chase after you. Sayama grabs your hand and yanks you along.

Sayama: "Come on!"

After practically running across Sotenbori, getting your steps in with some cardio, Sayama pulls you into an alleyway to let you both catch your breath. The police obliviously run past you. Sayama looks down and realizes she's still holding your hand. She pulls her hand back, embarrassed.

Sayama: "S-sorry..."

Sayama looks away, probably hiding a blush. She begins giggling. You begin wondering what's so funny to her.

Sayama: "It's nothing... it's just... you n' me? That's pretty crazy..."

*Sayama thinks for a second, then faces you.

Sayama: "Hey... you free tonight? I feel like goin' out. Care to join me?

Kamurocho, Tokyo, Japan. December 2006.

You had a meeting with the Tojo Clan today. It was long and pretty scary. Chairwoman Yayoi and Lieutenant Kashiwagi are worried about the Nishikiyama Family potentially becoming a threat to the clan. They've grown quite large after absorbing the Shimano Family. If the Nishikiyama Family break off from the Tojo Clan, that's half the clan's men gone. You proposed the idea of finding the "Mad Dog" to aid the Tojo Clan. For now, you have some free time on your hands, and you're finally back in Kamurocho, so it's best you kick back for a bit.

Bzzzt...

You pull out your flip phone. It's a call from Sayama. You answer the phone with a simple "What's up?"

Sayama: "What's up!? I'll tell you what's up! You don't really get the position you're in, do you? Disappear like that again, and I'll-"

Man, she's pissed. She was unconscious! Like, what were you supposed to do? Watch her sleep?

Sayama: "Whatever. Let's just say you've used your 'get outta jail free' card. Anyway, where are you?"

You look around to take in your surroundings. You're currently at the Tenkaichi Street entrance. Y'know, the street with the neon red gate that says "Kamurocho" on it?

Sayama: "Oh, perfect. Can you do me a favor and pick up a few things for me? Listen, let's not make this any more awkward than it has to be. I need some underwear. Look, I didn't know I'd be staying in Kamurocho like this. And while you're out, I could really use a beer. Underwear and beer! It's two things! Can you manage that?"

Before you can say anything, Sayama cuts you off and hits you with a classic.

Sayama: "Oh, sorry, what? You're breaking up! Thanks, see ya soon!"

Sayama hangs up the phone...

At Serena...

You open the door to the bar, a plastic bag in your hand. You look around for Sayama. Hello? Where is she? Where'd she go?

Suddenly, the door behind you opens and Sayama walks in in nothing but a towel.

Sayama: "Ah, that felt good. I was so sweaty and gross, I figured I'd hit a sauna or something... But the place next door had a shower, so I just helped myself. I'm guessing the place used to be a brothel? I've never seen so many showers all crammed together like that. In Kansai, we'd have busted them in a heartbeat."

Wow. She's awfully chatty today.

Sayama: "I'm feeling a lot better now. My fever finally broke. My shoulder's almost good as new too. I feel like I'm ready for action again."

A little too ready, I must say. Because Sayama just dropped her towel, revealing her naked body in all it's glory.
