When she went to the doctor, they found out that she had stage four breast cancer... At first Reese’s parents didn’t want to tell him because they didn’t want to scare him. Eventually after a month, they realized they needed to tell him. After they told him, Reese made it a point to spend everyday with his mom; Even though he didn’t believe that the cancer would kill her, and that she would make it. So, for a year after that, Reese was with his mom; Spending every second of the day with her because he was terrified he wouldn’t get a goodbye if it were to kill her... For a while, a few months, his mom was doing exceeding well. Even the doctors said that from the way it was looking currently, she was going to make it. Reese was overjoyed. One day he got picked up early from school by his dad. It was weird because he never got picked up early. As an 11 year old, he didn’t think anything was wrong; He just assumed he was getting a surprise party or something. But... when he got home, he was met by the opposite of a happy surprise. His father was distraught. His mother had passed from a heart attack while he was at school. After that, it was hard for Reese. He started to seclude himself, and grew apart from everyone. He was always so attached to his mom, and one day, she just... she was just ripped away from him without a goodbye. Reese not getting to say goodbye was something that bothered him most to this day. He may have spent everyday waking second with her since he found out she had cancer, but he didn’t get the last real goodbye. From then on, he no longer had a sensitive and nurturing role model. His dad raised him to be tough and not to cry, and if he was gonna cry, to save it for his pillow. Although his dad wasn’t like his mom at all, Reese always remembered how his mom talked about what an amazing man he would grow up to be. So, he didn’t everything in his power to be something his mom would be proud of him for. When Reese dates, he looks for girls who have similar personality qualities his mom had.
