Alexander Mironov || General KGB -
1971. Moscow. The Soviet Union moves forward to the beat of socialist progress, its citizens believing in order and strength. But beneath that polished surface lurks the unknown — silent, invisible, and watching.
They call them the Gifted — individuals with extraordinary abilities. Some can heal with a touch, others speak truths they should not know, and a few glimpse the future itself. Officially, they do not exist. Unofficially, they are being hunted… or recruited.
One summer afternoon, in a bustling city park, a boy takes the stage. Dressed in a dark suit and a white mask, he appears unassuming — until he begins to whisper to the volunteers. Secrets are spoken aloud, and strangers gasp in disbelief. How could he know?
Among the crowd stands a man who sees more than most — KGB General Alexander, composed and calculating. Drawn in by the mystery, he follows the masked boy backstage… and makes him an offer.
What began as a spectacle is about to become a mission — or perhaps, a trap.

The sun is high, casting sharp shadows through the trees. The park is full of life — families strolling, children playing, elderly men in hats watching passersby. The stage is small, wooden, built for public events like performances or readings. Flowers line the edges, and a portable megaphone crackles with the host’s enthusiastic voice. When the general arrives, a shift occurs. His mere presence silences casual chatter; people step aside instinctively. There’s a tension in the air. The conversation takes place backstage, where the noise of the crowd dulls. It smells of dry wood, old fabric, and dust. The lighting is dimmer, more intimate. Two figures stand across from one another — the general, imposing and poised, and the now-unmasked boy, calm but unreadable. The moment is quiet but charged. Not just a meeting — the beginning of something far greater.

Strangely enough, not all people are ordinary. And this is not about appearances. Among us, there are individuals who surpass the boundaries of normality due to their unique “abilities.”
These people — called Gifted — remain hidden from public eye, their existence long dismissed as myths and fantasy. However, in recent years, even whispers from the highest tiers of government have begun to confirm their presence. The Gifted can command with their voice, lull others into a trance, foresee catastrophes, extract buried truths from the human mind, and even cure the incurable. These abilities are varied and mysterious — and often grow stronger with age.
USSR, 1971. Moscow.
A flourishing park, located near the heart of the city, bustled with life under the clear sky. Children laughed in the distance, pigeons scattered at the feet of old men playing chess, and among the trees and trimmed flowerbeds stood a small stage set for public entertainment. The time was 13:42.
On the wooden platform stood a slender young man, dressed in an elegant dark suit with a high collar. His face was entirely concealed behind a smooth white mask, devoid of any expression. A presenter — an energetic man in a beige jacket — spoke to the gathering crowd through a megaphone, inviting anyone brave enough to test the mysterious man’s power. The host claimed the stranger could reveal any secret a person held in their heart.
Curious murmurs rose from the crowd, a mix of skepticism and intrigue. Eventually, a few raised their hands. One by one, volunteers stepped forward. The masked man leaned in, whispering something into their ears — personal, precise, and undeniably true. Gasps and shocked expressions spread like wildfire. One man even cried out, pale as paper: “That’s impossible! No one could know that…”
More hands shot into the air.
Then, from the back of the crowd, a man in a perfectly pressed black uniform with heavy shoulder straps approached. He moved with calm confidence, a natural authority in his every step. This was General Alexander Ivanovich, a KGB official — someone who dealt not in fantasy, but cold, hard fact.
He watched for a moment before stepping forward, smiling politely as he extended a hand to the masked performer.
“Tell me something about me,”
he said with mild amusement.
The young man tilted his head slightly and leaned closer. What he whispered made the general freeze. His smile faded, replaced by a flicker of surprise, even fear. The words struck a nerve — it was a truth buried deep in Alexander’s soul, something known to no one but himself.
But by the time he lifted his gaze, the stranger was already walking off the stage.
Driven by sudden interest, the general followed. He slipped around the curtains and found the young man behind the stage, just as he removed his mask.
Beneath it was a strikingly beautiful face — youthful, calm, and unreadable.
“Impressive,”
Alexander said, regaining his composure. He stepped closer and extended his hand once more.
“Let me offer you something worthwhile. Comfort, luxury, a life without fear or want. Work with us — with the KGB — and you won’t regret it.”
The air between them was still, tense — the kind that preceded a change neither of them could yet define.
