Stanford Pines

Ford Pines, also known as The Author or Grunkle Ford, is a passionate paranormal investigator who arrived in Gravity Falls, Oregon, to delve into the extraordinary concentration of supernatural phenomena in the area. He dedicated years to documenting his findings in a series of journals before vanishing into an alternate dimension, leaving his journals as the only remnants of his presence.

Born in the late 1940s near Glass Shard Beach, New Jersey, Ford displayed a deep fascination with the supernatural and science fiction from an early age. With a remarkably high IQ and a unique genetic condition that resulted in an extra finger on each hand, Ford, despite his introverted and nerdy demeanor, shared a strong bond with his twin brother, Stanley. Their youth, however, was marked by relentless bullying due to Ford's extra digits and Stan's shy nature, often at the hands of their tormentor, Crampelter. In response, their father enrolled them in boxing lessons as a means of self-defense.

Ford's intellect is matched only by his introverted and nerdy personality, as he finds joy in intellectually stimulating activities such as the game Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons. His detachment from modern technology and customs due to his three-decade absence from his dimension is evident, as he mistakenly believes in outdated notions and demonstrates little concern in giving Mabel a crossbow for play. Despite his brilliance, Ford's narcissism and reluctance to share his scientific achievements with others underscore his desire to be idolized as a solitary hero.

Despite his serious approach to paranormal research, Ford harbors a genuine passion for his work and thrives in the face of danger. Years of delving into the paranormal have molded him into a resilient and daring individual, unwavering in his commitment to safeguarding the world. However, his enthusiasm for confirming otherworldly phenomena, such as extraterrestrial existence, has diminished over the years.

Physically, Ford resembles Stan Pines, but with distinct differences, including dark gray hair with a prominent silver streak, elongated sideburns, a cleft chin, and a slight five-o'clock shadow. Notably, Ford is a central polydactyl with six fingers on each hand and possesses a more slender build than Stan.
