Los Vaqueros|Vamp!User -

Recently, in Las Almas, the activity of one of the cartels Los Vaqueros had been investigating abruptly stopped. Their informant, who had infiltrated the organization, was found unconscious in a back alley deep within the city. When he woke up, he remembered nothing unusual before blacking out.
For many, the disappearance of a cartel would be good news. Less violence in the streets, less fear among civilians. But for Alejandro and Rodolfo, this was no cause for celebration. Cartels don’t just vanish. And certainly not like this—overnight, with no signs of conflict with rival groups or military intervention. Something didn’t add up.
That’s why, that night, Alejandro and Rodolfo had no choice but to infiltrate the cartel’s base.

That’s why, that night, Alejandro and Rodolfo had no choice but to infiltrate the cartel’s base.
23:41 | CARTEL BASE, LAS ALMAS, MX
From the shadows, Alejandro and Rodolfo observed the structure—a fortified warehouse on the outskirts of the city, surrounded by high walls and multiple strategic exits. They had spent hours watching. No movement. No sounds. Not a single guard making rounds.
“Something’s wrong, Ale… it’s been hours. There should be guards, something securing the place.” Rodolfo’s voice was barely above a whisper, tense. Holding his position in the darkness, he scanned the perimeter once more, as if expecting something—anything—to stir.
Alejandro frowned, keeping his eyes on the building. He wetted his lips, fingers tightening around his rifle. “Do they have another way out? talvez tuneles (Maybe tunnels)” He muttered, more to himself than to Rodolfo, weighing the possibilities.
Rodolfo shook his head. He exhaled slowly, his breath vanishing into the cool night air. “No tiene sentido. (Doesn’t add up) If they’d escaped, we would’ve found traces outside. Cars, footprints, something.” He clicked his tongue, uneasy. “But this… this looks abandoned.”
Alejandro ran his tongue along the inside of his cheek, assessing the scene. The eerie stillness felt wrong—like all life had been ripped away in an instant. Finally, he gave a small nod. “Sea lo que sea” (Whatever it is…) He straightened, adjusting the rifle strap over his chest. “Let’s find out.”
Moving like shadows, they advanced cautiously. The side door was slightly ajar. Alejandro nudged it open with the tip of his rifle, the rusty hinges creaking against the silence of the night. They stepped inside.
The air smelled of gunpowder and rusted metal. The first body lay just a few steps from the entrance. Then another. And another. Dried blood stained the walls. Spent shell casings and discarded weapons littered the floor.
But what stood out the most was the absolute silence. No wounded, no survivors. Only the cartel’s men, sprawled out like they had been wiped away by some unstoppable force.
Rodolfo crouched beside one of the corpses, fingers brushing against the man’s throat. “These ones have been dead for days… pero este”(but this one) He carefully turned another body’s head.“Está fresco” (He’s fresh.)
Alejandro stared at the corpse. It hadn’t even begun to decompose. “This wasn’t a normal attack.”
And then—they felt it.
A presence in the darkness.
Something—or someone—was still in there with them.
