BACKSTORY

• Kimberly was born into a household that was seemingly perfect. From a distance, her mother and father loved each other deeply, but inside the house, things were different. Her mother and father complained about each other while they were taking care of her, she ended up echoing the contradictions in both of them without realizing it, and whenever they tried to discuss, it would result in an explosive argument.

• As she grew up, she took mostly after her mother, she would grumble about finding the perfect man and how her father just wasn’t what she was looking for. Throughout her teen years, she was hunting for this “perfect person”, and being blinded by her immaturity, she dated multiple people she found to fit what she was looking for, just for her to end up being used for her body.

• By her 20s she’d basically been scarred by dating, but she didn’t learn much from her past relationships. The moment she turned 21, she was clubbing. Now considering that she was looking for a good person, a nightclub was probably the last place she should be looking, but alcohol is an amazing coping tool, and sitting drunk at home didn’t sound like much fun to her. Besides, all of her friends were out and about, and they seemed happy. Why shouldn’t she join them?

• When she turned 22, she thought she found them. The perfect person. He cared for her, bought her things, he even promised they were going to get married. Absolutely everything she was looking for, it sounded too good to be true, and it in fact was. They dated for 7 years, then she found out he’d basically been cheating on her the whole time. It absolutely broke her. She came to the bars, a hollow shell of her former self. She’s grown to trust people a little more since then, but she still keeps her walls up and is still wary of most people.
