James 'Logan' Howlett | The Worst Wolverine

James Howlett is a Canadian-born mutant that developed a regenerative healing factor and retractable adamantium claws. Dubbing himself Logan, he often allied with the X-Men, Charles Xavier’s team of mutants, and was offered a suit by his teammates, though he rejected it in an effort to have them not think he wanted to be part of the team. One day when he was off on his own, humans, driven by fear and hatred towards mutants, orchestrated a surprise attack on the X-Mansion. This led to the deaths of several X-Men members, including Storm, Beast, Cyclops, and Jean Grey. Logan stumbled home drunk and took the blame for their deaths, going on a killing spree and wearing the suit under his clothes in memory of his team. He was shunned by society. Depressed and alcoholic, this Variant of Wolverine is described by Mr. Paradox of the TVA as being “the worst.” He is widely regarded by those in his world and in the TVA as a failure.

Logan was given another drink by a bartender who wanted him gone. He was approached by Deadpool, aka Wade Wilson, who claimed to know and need him. Deadpool pulled Logan up from his seat, which made his claws pop out. Deadpool joked about them being minuscule before putting a gun to Logan's head. Logan simply laughed, drinking a whole bottle of whiskey before collapsing to the floor. He was taken into the Time Variance Authority Office through a Timedoor only dressed in his suit. He fell on the floor, hearing Deadpool and TVA agent Mr. Paradox’s conversation about the impossibility of replacing an "Anchor Being," which was Earth-10005’s Wolverine. Deadpool threatened Paradox to alert his bosses, only to find out that they don't know. Logan was confused to see Deadpool pruned by a Time Stick, which he was as well in his attempt to harm Paradox. Wolverine approached an awakening Deadpool on a barren wasteland, stabbing him with his fully-grown claws and lifting him up when questioning where they are. Deadpool gave a witty remark instead of an answer, stating how his world is doomed if they don't confront Paradox before insulting Wolverine about his world. Offended, Wolverine stabbed Deadpool in his back, only for Deadpool to shoot him in both of his sides. They fight but Wolverine halted from decapitating Deadpool with the promise of having the TVA fix his world. Their attention was called to Johnny Storm, the Torch, whom alerted them of an approaching group. This included a Variant of Sabertooth, who challenged Wolverine. Wolverine charged towards Sabretooth, beheading him with his claws. Despite their efforts, Wolverine, Deadpool and Storm, were captured and taken to a compound. Wolverine and Deadpool were informed by Storm of the Void's basics; facing Alioth or working for "her," and about a Resistance with a hideout in the Borderlands. Upon arrival, the duo saw a bald figure resembling Charles Xavier exit Giant-Man’s skull. But it was Xavier’s twin, Cassandra Nova. After freeing them, Deadpool retold Johnny Storm’s words about Nova. With her telepathic powers, Nova skinned Storm alive. Deadpool proceeded to ask for Nova's help, but she sought for an alliance with Wolverine. Wolverine attacked her but was sunk into the ground. After she uncovered Deadpool's memories by phasing her hand through his head, Wolverine stabbed her from behind, though he was simply pushed back. Upon Alioth’s approach, Wolverine enabled a nearby metal suit's rocket boot to fly away, Deadpool latching onto him. They landed on a cliff. Wolverine planned to get back to Paradox by finding the Resistance and getting their help. Wolverine spotted a diner from afar, in which he drank rubbing alcohol. An unmasked Wilson asked for Logan’s backstory, Logan telling him to go fuck himself. Wilson talked about how Earth-10005’s Wolverine was as a hero, "the X-Man," only for Logan to say he isn't in his own. On their way to the Borderlands, Wolverine asked Deadpool what exactly happened to his Wolverine, Deadpool detailing his sacrifice to save his young clone, X-23. The two are met by a dog, Mary Puppins/Dogpool, and "Nicepool," a member of the hostile Deadpool Corps. Wolverine asked Nicepool for directions to the Borderlands. Nicepool told them to head towards the west and offered them a Honda Odyssey to travel in. On their way to the hideout, Deadpool asked what the first thing he’ll do "if" his world is fixed, prompting Wolverine to slam the breaks. Realizing that Deadpool was lying the whole time and that he has no idea if the TVA has the ability to "fix" a world, Wolverine stabs Deadpool in his leg. Deadpool said he made an "educated wish" since he needed Wolverine to save his friends back in Earth-10005. Wolverine delivered an insulting speech, leaving Deadpool speechless until he stated that he’ll fight him. Wolverine scoffed but was punched in the face. Wolverine punched back, engaging in a duel inside the car. The two fought until they both got tired, driven to the Resistance Hideout in their sleep. Deadpool awakened while Logan chugged down a bottle of whiskey he found. Upon the arrival of Elektra, Blade, and Gambit, Deadpool asked who brought them to the hideout, leading to X-23’s introduction, also known as Laura. Deadpool gets the Resistance on board with fighting for their home universes by planting Juggernaut’s Helmet on her head and making Cassandra Nova help them escape the Void. That night, Wolverine sat by a fire outside the hideout and was joined by Laura. She told him he shared the same mannerisms as the Logan she knew. Despite her stating he was a good man, Logan was convinced he wasn't, telling Laura of his many wrongdoings that got many people killed. Logan denied to join the Resistance and told Laura that they've got the wrong guy. Laura stated that he always was the "wrong guy." The Resistance barged through Cassandra’s Compound the next day, Wolverine exiting out of the trunk. Wolverine and Deadpool fought a couple of henchmen before charging towards Cassandra Nova herself, Nova flicking Deadpool away to face Wolverine. Wolverine tried to attack her, but had his claws forced into the floor. She then infiltrated Wolverine's mind, meeting Logan walking by the graves of those he’d killed. He told her that the cause was his neglect of the X-Men’s distress call, prompting his murderous rampage. He admitted that he only wished to be the man that he was in Xavier’s eyes and freedom, which she promised him. Wolverine revealed that he played her, Deadpool putting on Juggernaut’s Helmet on her head, repressing her powers. Nova was then shot by Pyro, whom Wolverine punched unconscious. Wolverine urged Deadpool to take the helmet off before she died, for Xavier's sake. Upon removing it himself, Nova used a Doctor Strange Variant’s Sling Ring to open an Inter-Dimensional Portal to Earth-10005. Wolverine and Deadpool leap through before Alioth came again. The duo crash-landed upon the Kia Carnival Deadpool's friend Peter Wisdom was selling to a family at Drive Max before leaving. They confronted Paradox where he was guarding the Time Ripper, only for a portal to open, Pyro emerging before being killed by Nova. Nova delved into Paradox's mind, discovered the Time Ripper and decided to use it for her own gain, before telekinetically pushing Deadpool and Wolverine back. The duo saw Dogpool and Nicepool exit the portal, Logan subsequently smelling a large number of Deadpools coming from the Void. As the Deadpool Corps came to the streets, Wade forced Wolverine to hold Dogpool while he tried to reason with his other variants. They didn't listen and started shooting. Hiding behind a car to escape the bullets, Wolverine accused Deadpool of having used Nicepool as a human shield, the latter devoid of a healing factor. Deadpool tried to reach a donut stand under the pretext that there were surgical kits, but just used Nicepool as a human shield again. Following Nicepool's head exploding, Wolverine used Dogpool to dissuade the Deadpools from shooting him while he went behind the stand. The duo briefly rant about Nicepool's fate, with Deadpool taking the opportunity to retrieve Nicepool’s golden guns. When asked if he was ready to fight, Wolverine responded that he was totally ready to kill hundreds of Deadpool Variants. Facing the Deadpool Corps, Wolverine put on his mask. The duo rushed at the variants and massacred most of them, but the they regenerated. When Peter joined the scene, the Deadpool Corps recognized him since they also had Peters in their universes. With their attention on him, Wolverine and Deadpool entered the subway. The duo met Paradox, Wolverine forcing him to tell them how to shut the Time Ripper down. Paradox explained that the Time Ripper was fed by matter and anti-matter, and Nova was redirecting the Time Ripper's power to exterminate every timeline except the Void. The only way to destroy the Time Ripper was to create a circuit between the two feeds, although whoever created the circuit would be atomized, despite the duo's regenerative healing factors. Approaching the feeds' chamber below, Wolverine halted Deadpool to repeat Paradox's words on the inevitability of a sacrifice. Deadpool decided that he would be the circuit because he brought Wolverine into the mess and lied. Wolverine echoed Deadpool's mention of an "educated wish," stating that it must be him since Deadpool had a world to get back to while he didn’t. Wolverine opened the chamber's door but was pushed outside by Deadpool, who sacrificed himself instead. With one feed in hand, Deadpool reached for the other as Wolverine tried to barge through the door. With time running out and Deadpool not being able to reach the second feed, Wolverine managed to break through the door and grab the second feed in his claws, grabbing Deadpool's hand with his and effectively creating the circuit. The energy from the feeds caused the part of his suit that covered his upper body to explode, exposing his abs before the Time Ripper exploded. When Paradox’s boss, Hunter B-15, appeared, he tried to make it seem like he did nothing wrong and that Wolverine and Deadpool had sacrificed themselves, but his lie was revealed when the duo exited the chamber unharmed. Logan handed his mask to Ralph, who stared blindingly at his pecs, which Deadpool covered up with a TVA jacket. Despite the reckless actions of Deadpool, B-15 showed Logan and Deadpool that the Earth-10005 timeline was growing back. After asking for the Resistance to be returned to their home universes, Deadpool requested for Logan's actions in his world to be undone. B-15 declined the latter request, as Logan became a better man due to his experiences. While eating with Deadpool, Dogpool came up to them, Deadpool adopting her as his pet. As Logan was leaving, Deadpool stopped him and invited him to his apartment. He was introduced to Blind Al and hung out with Wilson's friends, taking Dogpool so that Wilson could talk to his girlfriend Vanessa Carlysle while he spoke with Laura.
