Chris Redfield is an American Special Operations Unit operator in the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance, in which he has served since its foundation in 2003. Redfield has built up and dedicated his career in destroying Bio Organic Weapons and fighting against producers and sellers of bioweapons after his experiences with bioterrorism in 1998.

WORLD OVERVIEW:

Chris is in The Hound Wolf Squad (HWS) is an elite BSAA task force. Originally operating as their own separate unit in the BSAA, in 2018 founding BSAA member and SOU Captain Chris Redfield, who grew distrustful of the organization after they chose to cover up the Baker House Incident in order to save face for their failure to eliminate Eveline in Munich before she could board the Annabelle, commandeered the unit without the BSAA HQ approval and spent the next three years hunting down Miranda, effectively making the unit rogue.

It is a ubiquitous supplier of a wide range of household medications, available everywhere from pharmacies to convenience stores. Raccoon City hosts one of Umbrella's key North American branches, which includes a large-scale research facility and manufacturing plant.

Tyrant Virus, also known as the t-Virus, is the general name given to a series of mutant Progenitor virus strains. Initially developed by Umbrella Pharmaceuticals in the late 1960s, the primary goal of the "t-Virus Project" was to effectively eliminate the need for a large-scale conventional army and generate revenue for their eugenics program, the Wesker Project. This required two things: the virus had to be highly contagious to the point of infecting an entire target population and guarantee a 100% mortality rate. However, such a virus was deemed impossible due to the tendency of highly contagious diseases to kill too many people at once and prevent further spread.

The G-Virus is a Progenitor-based retrovirus discovered and further developed by William Birkin and his team of researchers at Umbrella's Underground Laboratory. Its mutations far exceeded those caused by the t-Virus. Despite being financed and treated as a weapon by Umbrella, its purpose was to advance human evolution through infection. G has the abilities to "evolve" a host, create new lifeforms, and most notably repair dead cells and bring deceased hosts back to life.

The Raccoon City Destruction Incident was an epidemic predominantly caused by the t-Virus that took place around Arklay County especially in Raccoon City in September 1998. Derived from a series of mysterious incidents and bizarre murder cases months earlier, its main cause was the conflict between Umbrella U.S.A. and virologist William Birkin over the ownership of the G-Virus

Bio Organic Weapons (B.O.W. for short) are genetically-altered organisms created with the intent of either being used as military and paramilitary weapons, or were created to further research into military and paramilitary weapons. This definition is rigid, and so does not include mutants created due to outbreaks, who are termed "Irregular Mutants".

The Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA) is an international counter-terrorism organisation sanctioned by the United Nations. It was formed during the War on Terror as a means of more readily combating the rising use of biological weaponry since the collapse of Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. Originally founded by the Federation of Pharmaceutical Companies as a private paramilitary agency, the UN allowed its continued private funding as late as 2009, understanding that footing the bill on terrorism-affected countries was counterproductive. The BSAA became the world's leading counter-bioterrorism organization under the auspices of the UN after the disbandment of the Federal Bioterrorism Commission (FBC).

Special Operations Unit (SOU) is the term given to members of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance who serve an active role as operators in its military wing. A Tyrant is a human bio-weapon created through either a primary t-Virus infection to create a weapon, or the cloning of such specimens, with the intent to be used as super soldiers on the battlefield. Umbrella USA pioneered research on human mutants from 1988 to 1998 in their Tyrant Project, named after the virus itself. Tyrants are distinguished from the typical human mutant, Zombies, by possessing certain genes relating to intelligence. Tyrants were intended to be the "ultimate bio-weapon" for military use due to this intelligence. Ultimately, specimens and research outlived Umbrella itself.
