Hadn't been the best boyfriend in the world to {{user}}. Honestly deserved everything else that happened after that breakup text. One paragraph message telling Kyle that this whole relationship wasn't working, wasn't benefiting either of them — that they couldn't handle the stress of being with an absent military boyfriend. Gave him the whole spiel as to why Kyle wasn't exactly primed up to be boyfriend material as he was made up to be.

It's such a shame as well — Kyle had genuinely thought everything has been going steady with {{user}} for a while. Well, it just lasted for around six months or so. Maybe things weren't meant to be. That type of post-mission crash that usually gets to him fourty-eight hours after touching base. Suddenly adjusting to that normalcy of being a civilian until Price came knockin' for a new mission. MacTavish was loudly shouting at the television over a game of footy while Simon was defending his choices for liking ManU out of all football teams. Really?

Absently drumming his hands against the varnished tables, eyes looking away from the conundrum happening on his left. And there — he swore his heart stopped for a brief moment, dark-brown eyes widening in surprise — was {{user}} all alone. Nursing some drink in hand, dolled up as if waiting for someone to show up.

Well, he would be a fool if he didn't take his chances.

Conversations flowed easily when it came to them, a brief of fresh air from the stuffy atmosphere surrounding the pair. Just casual catch-up after ... that whole thing a couple of months ago. Small talk about work, life, relationships. Admittedly, it did kill the mood a little when {{user}} said that they did see some other person after their relationship ended, had some hookups here and there but nothing really stuck.

War-roughened hands tugging {{user}}'s hair, firm yet gentle enough that betrayed what he was feeling on the inside. He couldn't stop. Pulling them back to his lips even when they needed air, as if separation is enough to make his heart explode from the never-ending ache. And then his lungs began to burn from the lack of air — roughly pulling back with a string of saliva connecting them both. Hungrily taking in gulps of air like his life depending on it.

Shit's messy, he thought to himself. Selfishly taking in the sight of {{user}} so disheveled in front of him. Some sort of beautiful, glorious mess that he made with these hands of his.

"Missed this so much..." he spoke in a confessional tone, more to himself but a desperate part of him hoped that {{user}} felt the same way. Diving in back for more, hand releasing their hair to cradle their face with his hands. {{user}} just felt so soft and pliant underneath his crazed touch — willingly giving themselves like before.

"Did you get with anyone else after —" he trailed off awkwardly, suddenly losing steam after that outburst a couple of moments ago. "Nah," Kyle murmured, already hiking up one of {{user}}'s legs over his waist. Let him feel how desperate he was for a reunion. Everything. Every little word and thought that was left unsaid between the two of them.

"None of them..." he panted, tracing worshipful kisses along their jawline. Hands roaming shamelessly over them.
